Extract from the Science of Magic

I am currently editing book 2 'The Science of Magic'. Due out 6-Apr-2015.
Here is a short extract:

We had a pleasant evening at the Otter. There was no pressure to do anything but knowing Merlin had to leave at 10pm just took the edge off it for me. What should have been a sexy, flirty, amorous and downright dirty evening drifted into small talk, fragility and tact; in all, a dull anti-climax. When Merlin left, Marie-Claire and Melanie went back to the ‘Red Doe’; Fleur and Fey went to the ‘Grey Deer’. I went to the Star. I was looking for George. I needed some vigorous exercise. Where was George? Perhaps I should have gone with Merlin? I found George in the security room.
“Miss Smith. Is there something I can do for you? I get off in 30 minutes.”
“Yes George, as soon as you can.”
I saw Ghost on the loading bay by the kitchen. ‘Ghost can you hear me?’
‘Yes Samantha.’
‘I have a vacancy for a babysitter starting no later than tomorrow night.’
‘I will bring you 3 candidates in the morning. Is 10am ok?’
I was impressed with telepathy; but I had to be careful, as you never knew who might pick up the ‘first hello’. If I knew the correct frequency then a private conversation was assured. There was so much you didn’t have to ask. I knew straight away that Ghost was on RCP duty. He was the professional soldier. He was in good health and a very contented cat.

I am finding Google to be a trial. I want to make enquiries like:

circa 1810 AD, cost of building a Dutch Flujt

circa 1810 AD, 8 Escudo coin, weight, gold purity, exchange rate with Florins.

I suspect that the data is there to be found and things will get better as people become more imaginative on tagging their articles.

I would like to know what tools and methods authors have found useful.

Merlins Millennia

Working on a novelette to be called 'Merlin's Millennia'. This should be complete in Spring 2015. This will be a freebie prequel to my current novels.

Edition 3, book 3 - New Horizons

I hope you like the new cover for "New Horizons" edition 3 of book 3 of Merlin's Maidens.

The new edition has corrections for the use of the Apostrophe and other typographical errors.

I am still learning my trade as an author. All 4 books of Merlin's Maidens will be corrected during the summer period. I hope you like the new book cover for 'The Science of Magic'. The three remaining books will have new covers very soon. I don't have the financial resources to employ a book cover designer and so this is another task I have had to do myself. It took a while for me to find the appropriate tool to produce the covers; I am currently using DAZ 3D Studio 4.6 and adding the text using 'Gimp 3'. I hope you have the patience to stay with me.
