The Mask
The mask she wears
it keeps her safe
never letting them
see her real face.
It’s not made of china
or plastic or clay
just a smile she wears
every day.
A smile that hides
the truth inside
that keeps them safe
from the feelings she hides.
Doubtful words
fill her head
leaving her helpless
and filled with dread.
Not said by anyone
just the voices inside
which is why the mask
helps her to hide.
They will just see
the bright smile she shows
hearing her laughter
as about business they go.
But do not presume
they know who she is
for the woman within
is carefully hid.

Coming Soon
It’s nearly that time of year again, you know the C word, *whispers* Christmas is sneaking up on us rather quickly so I’ve been doing a bit of planning.
Last year I hosted the erotic advent event and wanted to do something similar again this year but instead of limiting it to erotic poets and authors I have opened this years event up to all genres.
So what’s the catch? Well, this year I have asked the participating authors and poets to include the words Cinnamon and Treats in their entries, hence the Cinnamon Treats Advent.
I have to say I have some truly wonderful authors and poets that have already agreed to take part, these cover many genres including romance, erotica and even horror! Personally I can not wait to start receiving the entries and even more sharing them with you all. This will all be kicking off December 1st at 10am GMT, I’m just giving you all a very early heads up ;)
If there is anyone reading this that is interested in taking part in this advent then please feel free to contact me (info on my contact page) for more details, the more the merrier in my opinion.

John Quinlan, Benito and Me
Many of you will know that I found inspiration for my bad guy Benito in pictures of John Quinlan and since I’m back to working on the follow up to Aphrodite’s Fire I thought I would tell you all a little bit about how that came about and share some of the pictures that inspired bad boy Benito as well as a picture that I happen to know is one of John’s personal favourites.
Back in May 2014 I saw pictures on Facebook of John at a convention with one of my favourite authors, Debra Anastasia and me being me I sent a cheeky friend request never expecting him to accept. However, much to my delight the request was excepted and that was that, or so I thought ;)
After requesting a spot at Second City Signing I had a bit of a panic when I realised I was going to have to stop messing about and actually get a book written and published. So after sending a short story, which became chapter one, to my good friend AF was born and I found myself trawling the interweb looking for inspiration. On that day a picture of John appeared on my Facebook timeline and that was it.
At the time Benito did not exist at all but the second I saw the picture I knew his name and everything about him, little did I realise he was going to become such a strong and powerful voice in my head. Now I feel I need to add that at the time I hadn’t spoken to John at all, yes I’d liked a few posts and commented on a couple but I didn’t know much about him apart from he was super massively hot *blushes*. That was until I got challenged to do the five day, hottie a day challenge. I tagged John in my challenge explaining that he was the inspiration for Benito, again not expecting a response but that was the day I made a real friend and the day I began to know John a bit better.
John is one of the nicest, most inspirational guys I have had the pleasure of interacting with, so much so that sometimes I feel a bit bad about connecting him to Benito as if I’m honest Benito is the absolute polar opposite of John.
John has supported me from that day, not only with my book but also with normal day to day stuff. I’ve never actually told John but he inspires me to push myself not only with work but also with pushing myself to become healthier and fitter, he is one of the hardest working guys I know yet he was willing to take time out to help a nobody (me).
Recently he shared this pic with me as it is one of his personal favourites and let’s face it, it’s a stunning picture…
I told him I would share it but not long after I said that I began to struggle with some crap in my life which left me in a bad place, a place where I couldn’t seem to write a bloody thing and I was just about functioning as a person. Typically for me I found myself spiralling downward quickly, not only because of how I was feeling but also because I felt I was letting John down, but when I explained what was happening he was totally compassionate and understanding, for he is a true gentleman and a real good friend.
Anyhow this post is my way of thanking John for his friendship, support and inspiration. Who would have thought that pressing the friend request button would lead to me finding a true friend with a huge heart of gold.

Softest touch

subtle remains
Slow and seductive
kisses and licks

Eye contact broken

Nails sink in flesh

taking him deep

Chaos Of Mine
Shadows slowly
Cover the ground
Cloud blocks out
The life giving sun
Day turns to night
Night into day
But nothing can chase
Those shadows away
You’ll see her
Walking around
Lost in her thoughts
Silence wrapped around
No one can see
The darkness inside
So tightly hidden
From eyes that pry
The bright smile
Upon her face
Hides the screams
That want to escape
You’ll never see
The battle she fight
The demons she hides from
Or the voices inside
A battle of old
A war she must win
Not against foes
But the enemy within
Still if you see her
You will never know
For she is well practised
At hiding her woe
It’s only at quiet times
Moments alone
When the silence is broken
As conflict explodes
If you could see her
As battles outwardly rage
You’d see how she crumbles
As her light fades
Slowly you’d see as
Her well placed mask slips
As slow, painful tears
From her face drip.

Future Signings and Book Stuff!
Hello everyone.
This is just a quick post to bring you all up to date with future events I will be attending and also a bit of book news.
This year has been a whirlwind of activity for me which unfortunately has left very little time for writing but that will soon be changing. As soon as my kids are back in school I will be sitting down to work on a couple of major projects that I have been planning, but more about those at a later date as I have to tell you about all the fabulous future signings I will be attending, the attending authors and the ticket links.
