Adrift Coming December 19th

Taylor McKay’s life is exploding and she’s the one that lit the match.

Losing her father a week before her thirtieth birthday shifted her world. Breaking up with her boyfriend, quitting her job and subletting her apartment to go work on a yacht for the summer struck the match. The yacht catching fire and sinking incinerated any semblance of a normal life.

She was only existing when she promised her father she’d start living. Now Taylor has to use every ounce of will to survive. Being lost at sea with billionaire Easton VanHouten is definitely a surprise, but better stranded with him than going full-on Cast Away by herself.

After all, it can't get any worse. Right?

Publishing Day

Moving On: A Twenty-Something Novella

This time is bittersweet for me and I think it's evident in the title of this book....Moving On. In every sense of the word I am moving on: from the characters, this series, my "freshman" status as a writer (I hope, goodness), I've moved (again)...it's been a year of shedding who I once was to become who I am today just like Scott and Co.

These characters grew with me and held the mirror up when I didn't want to face my own ugly. I've cried, laughed, gotten so angry at/with them it's weird that I'm saying goodbye. But it's time, I have new characters I've been neglecting for too long. Stories begging to be told. Stories I'm so excited to share with you!

Moving On is more than Blake's story. In fact, I guess you could say it's unfair to call it his story. Believe me, I set out to give him one. I fought to get a cohesive story from his stubborn ass, but when have any of these guys been easy? Instead I got a slideshow of these special moments, his favorite moments with his family and the stories behind them. He gave me plenty about his relationship with Erica (spoiler, eek!), but like all of my books involving these guys, it's more about the collective.

So yes, there is a Happily Ever After...maybe not the one you were expecting, but it's the one we need. Everyone will be ok because this is Fictionland and they've all been through enough. There's also a shout out to my next book and main character Bellamy Strong! Which means this might not be the last time you see the gang (or two of them anyway), but they will no longer play a major role.

Thank you all for coming along with me on this ride. Thank you for taking a chance on a series that focuses on all relationships, not just romantic. If you want to show your support or would like to let me know what you think, I'd love it if you left a review! Your thoughts and opinions matter a lot and whether you think you can write a review well or not, it doesn't matter because it's what you feel that's important.

Happy Reading!

Oh, won't you...

description

Guys..look at Sam. Try and say no.

Since I'm chin deep in edits, formatting for paperbacks and book covers (whaaaa? oh yes, my loves), writing the new story (wait double whaaaa? hmm mmm, the muse is strong with this one), working full time (boo! who cares?!) and moving to my new place (someone breathe deep for me because HELP), I thought I'd give you all a teaser which does contain a major spoiler. Although...it shouldn't come as too big of a surprise. It's my thank you for being so patient as I move at an actual snails pace. I love you, I'm so sorry, stay with me! WE CAN DO THIS!

And it's from Blake's POV! Woot!

*Teaser begins* (still in editing, subject to change, yadda yadda yadda)

“Can you, uh… feel her out for me?” I ask completely unashamed.
“You are a grown ass man so no I will not. Ask her yourself.”
“This wedding is turning you into such a bitch,” I say without any heat.
“Yeah, well, we match then because post break-up Blake is a whiney little bitch.”
“To a couple of bitches.” I tilt my Italian towards her Turkey and Swiss.
“Bitches before snitches,” she says, tapping her sandwich to mine.
I snort and continue eating, my mind whirling with ideas of shit I could possibly send Erica. “What are some of her favorite things?”
“Are you asking for my help with the woo, Blake?”
“For the record, I never need help getting a girl. I mean, look at me. But on a realer note, yeah I’m asking for help.”
Emily stands up, rests her hands on her hips, puts shoulders back and looks down at me, all super-heroine like. “I shall do this thing. We will get you the girl!”
I try not to sink into my chair as people turn towards us and stare at the little idiot, but I was used to the Scott showboating by now. “Can you sit down, please?”
“But if you’re just trying to pump and dump, I will gut you with your own knife!” She growls, picking up my white, plastic knife off my tray and waving it in front of me.
“You really need to cut back on Game of Thrones.”
“Never!” she crows before dropping back into her chair and resuming her meal.

*End teaser*

I hope you liked it!

Music and Ly-uh-Writing!

So I had a lovely comment on my Facebook today about not only discovering my books, but discovering the music I set my books to. It's not the first time I've heard this, but let me tell you there isn't a higher compliment I could be paid.

Me...for the last half hour.

description

I LOVE music. If you couldn't tell ;)

It's a fundamental part of my writing. I have a playlist for each novel before I ever sit down to write and I cultivate that playlist throughout the entire process until publication day. I will often hear a song or an instrumental and a character or a sentence will pop into my head. I'll listen to that song over and over, sitting with the feelings it invokes. Soon I'll have a general idea of what the story is about and I'll build the playlist. I spend HOURS doing this. Listening to songs over and over, watching music videos. It's a lot of fun because I've discovered so much music.

For instance, I was watching another author's book promo video and Rihanna's song "What Now" was playing and BOOM...Marisol's voice popped in my head.

Or...

I was devouring Beyonce's self-titled album like the rest of the world and heard the song "Heaven" and immediately the scene where Emily is lying in bed imagining the light from the sun is her mother's hand comes into my head.

These moments, sparked by music, are everything to me.

So thank you, lovely reader. I'm ecstatic that you discovered new music, I'm overjoyed that you liked my books and I'm so proud that you felt the emotion in the songs with the words that I wrote. Because I did too and I feel like it only connects the characters, author and reader more.

GAH! Ok, enough rambling. Too many feels.

What I have done...long overdue...is added a Music tab under my "Book" header on my website. Now you can see all the playlists in one place, easy access. I wish I was more tech savvy to get a Spotify playlist going or whatever. If anyone does that, let me know and I'll link it all over the damn place.

Blake Teaser

I've been MIA. Yes, yes. I know. BELIEVE ME.

my conscience
description

Problem is my day job has been running my life. WHO RUNS THE WORLD???? My bills. WAH.

Blake's novella is coming along. We're almost there people! Mostly because I'm so ready to start on this new project I keep dreaming scenes about. I need to write it.

The scene below includes almost the entire crew on their way to help Emily search for a wedding dress...I'm sure you can imagine the chaos that ensues. Remember, this is wholly unedited and subject to change :)

Hope you're having a great weekend and remember! If you love my gang, spread the word!

TEASER:

Peanut sits to left, smashed between Jase and I, looking like she’d rather be anywhere else.
I poke her ribs, “Hey, what’s up with you? Why aren’t you glowing with pre-marital bliss?”
The side of her mouth tilts up and she leans closer to me while keeping a wary eye on her maid of honor, “I am, just hoping to fine the right one. I don’t want a huge gown, you know? Nothing fancy. Simple. But I’m thinking my Fairy Godmother wants me to look like…well to borrow a phrase from Pretty Woman-“
“A whore?” I guess.
Her head whips around and glares, “Are you serious? No. 'Cinda-fucking-rella'. You know what? Never mind.”
“It’s your day, girl. Remember that. You have to own your day.” Jase pipes up loudly, glaring at the back of his girlfriend’s head.
“Oh yeah, let’s not forget this one. He’s been watching marathons of Say Yes to the Dress. Research he calls it.” Em rolls her eyes.
“Bro, I love that show. Trent got me hooked. My eyes accidentally watched it and now I live for the marathons. Why didn’t you tell me you were binging?” I slap the back of his dumbass head.
“I don’t keep up with the million shows you watch, how the hell was I supposed to know. Besides, it was research. I can’t stand you near constant chatter through shows.”
“Oh, please!” Emily groans. “Jase, you do not shut up while the television is on. You could literally be quiet for an hour and the minute someone switches it on, you decide to talk.”
Oh, God, not this argument again.
“Excuse me, if I want to comment on something I find interesting or see if you’re are enjoying yourself. I’m considerate. Sue me.” Jase flicks her off before turning back to glare out his window.
“Guys, let’s all take a minute-“ Trent says from the driver seat.
“So then I was think we could go to lunch at that new place downtown? Y’all will be hungry by then, for sure. I’ll text Declan and let him know when we’re getting ready to head out so he and Mikey can meet us. Mark is meeting us there. Ugh, he better not be late. I better text him.” Mari thinks aloud before whipping her phone out.
They all continue talking over each other, Trent intermittently trying to calm someone down if it looks like it’s getting heated and I settle back to soak up the chaos.
