"Tanzer brilliantly birthed each persona." I Am gets TNBBC's The Next Best Book Blog'd. And likes it. A lot.

And big thanks to the Lori Hettler for that. Well, that and for including I Am in such fine company. Drinks, yes, excerpt, cool?
"Tanzer brilliantly birthed each persona, forced their words up off the page, and made each one come alive much like a puppeteer brings life to his marionettes. A quick, enticing collection, clocking in at just under 100 pages, that demonstrates a brand new side of Ben."

Mania. Hydrate. The Lion King. Orphans. And The Writer's Handful.

If your writing were an animal, what animal would it be? Because…I Googled the words “animal sparse quick punchy,” thinking that might help me determine said animal, and I came up with the novel We the Animals by Justin Torres, which apparently takes place in upstate New York where I grew up. So color me intrigued as far as that goes. Not that this answers your question. I am not really into animals, but thinking quick and punchy, if not sparse, how about a hyena, they seem to make quick work of things, and they’re sort of rough, yet still funny and seem to enjoy themselves. Plus, they play a key supporting role in The Lion King, which I name-drop in Orphans, so now I’m marketing, and cross-pollinating, and there we go. Thank you.

"Tanzer is a post-modern mixmaster." Orphans gets Rumpus'd. And likes it. A lot.

"Like Beck, Tanzer is a post-modern mixmaster, chopping up bits of this book and that movie—most especially, I think, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner and Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report—to create a new work that transcends its influences even as it would fall apart without them. Tanzer ecstatically embraces these influences, acknowledging some of them at book’s end."
