How To Live Like A Snake

snake

Nice eyes (for a snake).

Snakes aren’t found atop the “favorite animal” list of many people any person, but we can learn from their slithery ways.

About a dozentimes per year, snakes shed their skin and leave their old skin on the ground for someone else to clean up (I’m looking at you, park ranger). One way to live like a snake is to be messy and make other people clean up after you. Call me an optimist, butI thinkwe can find a nicer way to live like this hissing reptile.

Why Do Snakes Shed The...

I’m on the same island as this thing! (photoby satosphere)

Feb 3, 10:47 PM (Hawaii-Aleutian Time Zone (UTC-10:00))

I think life is too short not to be spontaneous, so I jumped on two planes to get my bodyto The Big Island, Hawaii. I have no plans other than to:

Sleep in hostel
See volcano
Beach myself
Write

Other than that, it’s all up in the air. It’s funny to me how some people script out their entire trip like a play, only because I’m completely opposite in my approach. If you think about it, tra...

thinker

Why does that happen?

I’ve already talked about the reason why we procrastinate, and within that reason is a small, but critical detail that many of us—myself included—fail to internalize and implement with regularity. Failure to do it means you’ll fail to take action every time. It may in fact be the crux of inaction for most procrastinators.

In order to take action, you must first terminate deliberation.

When w...

How Watching Less TV Can Change Your Life

Even our cats are hooked. Photo by

Even our cats are hooked.

Television. The average American watches more thanfivehours of it every day.

Five hours isa stunning number on its own, but wait until you see what we’re missing!

Opportunity cost asks,“What is the cost of doing thisinstead ofall the other options?” Ithighlights what could be rather than what is.

“What is” is a lot of people sitting on a couch for five hoursevery day passively absorbing data from a screen. Now let’s look at what could be.Since TV isn’t all bad, we’re goi...

15 Posts For 6 Common Life Problems

I wasn't sure what picture to use for this post, and then I saw these camels. You can't go wrong with a couple of camels.

I wasn’t sure what picture to use for this post, and then I saw these camels. Camels are good.

The typical format of a blog is to write short thoughts on single topics. Over time, posts accumulate and you end up with a sea of fragmented ideas. This is one reason why books are great—they’re thorough and focused dissections of a single topic.

Given this issue with blogging, I want to organize some of the best recent Deep Existenceposts by which type of life problem they address. That way, if you’...

Patience Is Vital: Don’t Be In A Rush To Change

stephen

My fitness significantly improved in 2014 because I patiently built a foundation for it in 2013.

2014 was the best year of my life in terms of personal growth and success:

I sold more than 35,000 copies of my first book, Mini Habits.
In 5 months, Ihave more than 1,700 studentsin my video course,Mini Habit Mastery.
I took my fitness to the next level with consistent exercise; I’m even developing somewhat of a six pack now. I’m not magazine-ready or anything, but hey, when I flex my abs, there are...
