Let the pain teach you!

Pain - It leaves when it's done teaching you.

When was the last time you were hit by a tragic episode? In short, with pain?

In the latest episode of my podcast, i have touched on how my life is currently a rollercoaster ride and how much painful it is for me. The motive of this episode was to touch the spiritual side of this phase - learning from pain.

You can listen to the episode HERE but for the benefit of the reader inside you, let me write it down too.

The kind of pain i am going through is unprecedented. And that is why, the wisdom bites it has to offer are unique too! So, here are the few lessons i have learned so far -

Pain makes you strong. No matter how stabbing it is, you only come out stronger.Pain makes you wiser. Once you have gone through it, you do not remain the same. You become closer to life.Pain equals love. Greater you feel the pain, more your heart has the ability to feel love. No wonder a stone cannot feel anything.Pain teaches you to let go. Letting go of unnecessary worries helps you build a new but stronger tomorrow.Pain teaches you to hope. Where there is pain, there is love and hence, there blooms hope. Hope itself means - Hold On Pain Ends.Pain makes heart connections deeper and stronger. Physical distance do not matter when hearts are one.Above are my take on pain. What does your experience say?

First there were books. Then came e-books. And now is the era of Audio Books! 🎧📚
In the recent episode of my podcast - Priyanka Baranwal - i have given away 5 Incredibly Powerful Tips for Reading. On my blog, i am going to share one of them - 4 Benefits of Audio books!

This particular section on my podcast is termed as - Listen to the book - Audio books!1. You can listen to them wherever you go!i believe this is the biggest benefit of audio books. You may be helpless in carrying a thick book wherever you go but you are always carrying your smartphone. Your phone becomes the carrier of books.
On YouTube and other platforms, there are hundreds of audio books available. All you need is a good quality earphones/headphones and internet connection.
2. You decide your own pace!Audio books are pretty similar to physical books. Just as you can decide how many pages you want to read a day, the same is for audio books. You can decide how much long you want to listen for.
My first audio book was - Think Like A Monk by Jay Shetty . The book is 10 hours plus long. How did i finish it? i listened 30 minutes everyday to the book and in a span of two weeks or so, this massive book was done!
It is important to know that not all audio books are lengthy. They vary in size. Many audio books are as short as 60 minutes or can go up to 5 hours. Such as 80/20 Principle by Richard Koch .

3. You get to stay with your beloved smartphone!"What are you doing with your phone? Get off right away!"
"i am listening to a book!"
"Alright. Go on."
And there! You and your smartphone have your Happily Ever After.
4. You do something meaningful even when you are lazy!Let's admit it. Physical books can be thick and you do not always want to pick up that 400+ pages long book in hand. All you want to do is to lie down on the sofa, close the eyes and get lost in thoughts. In other words, you want to be lazy.
Audio books help you turn your lazy days into meaningful days. Plug in to an audio book, lie on the sofa, close your eyes and get lost in the author's amazing thoughts.
NOW WHERE TO FIND AUDIO BOOKS? Audiobooks  gives you first 3 books for free.
You can listen to  IKIGAI  too!
Get  AUDIBLE OpenCulture gives you 1000 FREE audio books to download.
Basically, tap into the power of internet and your wish will be answered in abundance. You can ask your friends/family/colleagues/enemies too. Every suggestion is worth trying out.
How is your experience with audio books?

The Pen - My latest book on Amazon Kindle!

Hi 🙋 i am Priyanka Baranwal. Welcome to my blog! By the way, i am an author, and a blogger, poet, guitarist and podcaster. Know more About Me. Let's talk about the post idea now, shall we? 😊

Read this post in Hindi: The Pen - अमेज़न किंडल पर मेरी नयी किताब !

She asked, "Why do we forget the obvious?"

Her self answered, "Because, it is obvious. Duh!"

She, "True."

This is what i asked myself today while making the trailer of my latest book - The Pen. The book has come out this month on 20th and not a single post about it here? Why? Read the answer above.

So, let's break the spell and do it. Here is the trailer for The Pen. The text in the video is the blurb:

But let me paste it for you here:

Receiving his grandfather’s most beloved asset, The Pen, Pawan lands into a volley of thrills and secrets. It catapults him onto the quest of revealing mysteries only Kunj Prakash held for years. What looked a simple task slowly morphs into the steps to understand his old man’s big heart and profound thinking.

'The Pen' brings you the journey of a writer who is obsessed to secure the precious but moreover, passionate to fix things right till the end. And who could be a better help in this seemingly-impossible mission than his beloved grandson!

Let love be the key to unlock a heart of mysteries, 'The Pen' is the fifth story in the series 'One-cup stories, please'.

This is the fifth story in the series - One-cup stories, please! It has 29 pages and you can finish it in less than 30 minutes with, of course, your cup of tea or coffee.

i personally love this story of young Pawan and old Kunj Prakash. The way Kunj Prakash is obsessed about his black pen, it is relatable. After all, we all have something to keep close, too close to share it with anyone.

That obsession, or, in other words, the illusion of the possession keeps us up on the edge leading to create an aura that we ourselves fail to shake and recreate. Some obsessions are a blessing as well as a curse and you continue with the sweetness and bitterness this mix has to offer.
You can get The Pen on Amazon Kindle. You can download the Kindle app in your phone or tablet. Or, may be buy the device. Kindle has thousands of books n your fingertips.
When you finish reading my book/s, don't forget to share your views.

(Part 2) Made a Bucket List yet? Everything you need to know about making one + How to play F7 chord

Hi 🙋 i am Priyanka Baranwal. Welcome to my blog! By the way, i am an author, and a blogger, poet, guitarist and podcaster. Know more About Me. Let's talk about the post idea now, shall we? 😊

READ THE PART 1

In its first part, we learned 5 aspects of Bucket List:

What, How and Who of Bucket List6 most common themes for peoples' Bucket list, andsome Bucket List ideas

In Part 2, we are going to learn 5 tips to make YOUR bucket list. At the end, i will share some of the items/dreams from mine. Ready? Here we go...

5 Tips to Start with YOUR Bucket List1. Start with a small list.

DO NOT go overboard with the list. Some people add tons of things in their bucket list which later begins to feel burdensome. Result? They give up on their dreams/goals.

If you are new at making such a list, i highly recommend to start with a small one. Such as, adding 3 or 5, maybe 10 goals/dreams at the maximum. Keeping the list small helps you breathe through achieving your goals. And when you achieve them, they motivate further in achieving more!

2. Keep convenient as well as daring things.Failing to plan is planning to fail.
There are two basic purposes of a bucket list - a. It gets you know all about your goals and aspirations, b. It pushes you to come out of your comfort zone.
It is wise to keep your list a mix of both -  comfort as well as courage. Add in a few things doing which you are comfortable such as singing a new song or taking a trip to the neighborhood city. And then, throw in something daring such as getting a book published or travelling to a far away place. The latter helps you grow.
Watch THIS video to learn 7 steps to achieve your goals.
3. Break your goals/dreams in small steps Last year, in December, i did a short course on French language. Learning this language entirely isn't exactly my goal but i would sure love to gain a considerable amount of knowledge. French is, after all, one of the most loved languages.
So i learned a few words and their meaning. Then i learned how to make sentences out of it. For example, Bon means Good. C'est means It is. A simple sentence out of these will be - C'est bon means It is good. (See, what fun it is to learn French!)
Now, if i wish to learn further. i will again have to learn few more words and then how to make sentences out of them, right?
This is how you achieve a big goal - by breaking it into small steps. Plan your big goal strategically. Break them into smaller goals. If you wish to gain weight by 10 kilos, begin with 2 kilos and so on.
The final face of that big goal may scare you but dividing it in small chunks can actually give you a clarity over how to proceed. It also boosts your confidence.
4. Share your list with friends and familyWalk in a pack when it comes to winning the bucket list. By having people by your side, who share your vision and dreams, gives you more leverage and motivation to your journey.
Once you make your list, share it with your friends and family. Ask their help. You have no idea one of your aunts may come out as an expert editor or that less-known uncle as an enthusiastic fitness coach.
Just share. 5. Update the list time to time In the bucket list research by Stanford Letter Project , its founder, Dr. VJ Periyakoli, recommends that it is important to update your bucket list over time.
Since you are working towards those goals and dreams, there will come a point when you achieve them. Once you do, all you need is to put a tick next to them.
But by that time, there are chances that you may have come across new goals or may consider some of the old ones on the list as unnecessary or too-outgoing. It is alright to delete a few goals or add a bunch more! Time anyway keeps changing us.
My Bucket List- As an author, i want to be a billionaire. So, i want to write amazing stories that touch billion hearts.
- As a guitarist, i'd like to grow more as a musician and get the opportunities to play at musical events. Performing at GuitCon, at least for once, is another of my musical goals.
- As a podcaster, i want Jay Shetty and Anita Nair on my podcast. i'd also like to get invited on Jay Shetty's podcast.
- As a blogger, i'd like to keep up with my Hindi blog. (i so love writing in Hindi!)
- On a personal note, i'd like to be more at peace, kinder, grateful and quiet.
Above are a few from my bucket list. Would you like to share some from yours? It's fun...the sharing thing.
And yes! Before you leave, watch how to play F7 chord on guitar:

Happy Republic Day!

Some live for their country. Some die for their country. And some spy for their country. Sehmat Khan lived, spied and died for her country, India.

In the latest episode of my podcast, i have talked about Sehmat Khan. If you want to get a quick idea of who Sehmat Khan was and what she did for India, watch the movie Raazi.

Real Sehmat (Left) | Alia Bhatt (Right)

Raazi is based on Harinder Sikka's novel - Calling Sehmat. For safety measures, the real name is exchanged with Sehmat. To protect her identity. Nevertheless, she continues to inspire!

Here is my dedication to her. i am playing 'Ae Watan' from the movie:

Sikka says that the movie is merely 25% of the book and that a sequel is being made - Remembering Sehmat - which will showcase more about her life. Fingers crossed!

For my podcast, i did some research on Sehmat. Her thoughts and actions shook me deeply as i was left teary eyed. i am stunned to see a woman's bravery and guts to do the unthinkable!

If you listen to the episode, you will get to know more about her. i am deeply inspired by Sehmat and her choices in life. i hope that i too, one day, make India proud.

People like Sehmat Khan are born a few but continue to live in hearts and history forever.

Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!

On How can you jump out of your comfort zone.

Hi 🙋 i am Priyanka Baranwal. Welcome to my blog! By the way, i am an author, and a blogger, poet, guitarist and podcaster. Know more About Me. Let's talk about the post idea now, shall we? 😊

---------------------------------------

Read this post in Hindi: कैसे छोड़ें अपने सुविधा क्षेत्र यानी Comfort Zone को।

So the big question is, Why should you jump out of your comfort zone?

Because precisely out of it lies Growth.

Researchers say that by the end of February, 60% of us give up on the New Year resolutions. By the time March is signing off, the number turns 80%. Which, in other words, means that only 20% of us keep up with the resolutions/promises we make to ourselves.

Let's focus on the least number here to reap the maximum motivation - 20%
One of the reasons that people give up is because those resolutions push them to come out of their comfort zone. It asks them to leave the normal and try something new. This - turning the new into a normal - becomes a huge challenge and before people give their best, they give up instead.
Here are 3 simple ways you can try to leap out of the comfort zone and promise yourself growth this year. If it makes you feel better, doing it will help you end this year On. Your. Own. Terms.

1. Find ways to stick to the new
The reason i have picked up this topic is related to my latest experience in music. i am a guitarist and i love to play songs on chords. Chords are my thing. But for some reasons, by the time 2020 was ending, i began losing motivation for playing chords. It felt bad! i tried keeping up but somehow, it wasn't happening.
What should i do now then? i asked myself quite often. Should i give up? Put my guitar away until i find the motivation again?
If i know one thing then it is, that waiting for the right moment or motivation to arrive is like waiting for a train at the airport. It will never happen.
So, i jumped the lane and chose something i was not comfortable before - Tabs/Leads. i began playing songs on leads. Here is the first video posted on Nov 10th 2020:

Slowly, i began growing fascination for tabs. Where my fingers were not able to move on particular strings earlier, with regular practice, they began falling in place. Choosing something else made me stick with my guitar. It still makes me feel AWESOME!
Find ways to keep abreast with the promises of this year. You will receive the rewards for the efforts.

2. Keep up with the regular practice So, why exactly i am comfortable playing chords? Because i have played them so much and for so many times that they are my thing now. In relevant terms, they are my comfort zone.
Playing tabs gets your fingers moving - one at a time. Unlike chords. In chords, you play with a set of fingers each time. Doing the opposite was tricky! It still is but i like to keep my promises. i keep my regular practice on so that the new becomes normal.
Check out this one:

Comfort zone feels cozy because you don't have to put efforts anymore. But if you ditch it and push yourself, you can promise yourself growth and learning.

3. Schedule the new until it becomes normal
If you are truly serious about the resolution, schedule a slot for the new learning until it becomes normal. Decide a fix number of hour each day to do it.
This video is the real example for that:

i now play verses too which was a challenge given that tabs aren't my thing and it's outside my comfort zone. Still, i schedule it everyday and give it my best.
Have faith in yourself. Whatever happens, keep up with the promises you have made to yourself. i keep finding ways to stick to tabs, am committed to the regular practice and schedule a slot every day. In short, i make sure i stay with my guitar and it stays with me.
Every time you lose motivation, remind yourself of WHY did you start it at the first place. This should get you going from the normal to the new until the latter becomes the new normal.
