Allegory: Calamity (Comics)

In a village, there was a pond. It was a big pond with many fish, and was the main source of food for the villagers.
One morning, someone spotted a huge crocodile in the middle of the pond. Scared, the villagers rushed to their chief, and asked for a way to rid the pond of the calamity that was going to eat their fish. After much discussion, village chief said, "Let us empty the pond. The crocodile will have to run away, or die of dehydration."

“While trying to solve a problem, make sure you are not creating a bigger problem.”

Lair Of The Monster- Chapter : When the Time Comes

Mudita always hated the term "when the time comes."

She had first heard this term when she was around five.

"Stop giving her good food and good clothes," her grandmother had instructed her parents. "In fact, stop indulging her in any way."

Her mother tried to protest, but was silenced with a glare.

"The girl should not get used to such things," the grandmother continued. "The time has come to send her to the monastery, as it is destined for her."

"What is a monastery?" Mudita asked her elder sister....

Kakistocracy (Poem)

When hoards of people without a job,

become a bigoted lynching mob.

When talking wisely makes you a ghoul,
while being ignorant is so cool.

When influencers and entertainers are the new gods,
and a handful of money buys cheerleading squads.

When every leader sounds the same,
as gaining power becomes their only aim.

When you see the above things,
it will tell you which tune the time sings.

That is how you know it is not a democracy,
and is instead a supine kakistocracy.

Lair Of The Monster- Chapter : Rise of The Slave

"Yetaal! Yetaal! Yetaal!" the Lasati soldiers cheered.

When the Lasati troops were forced to retreat from the Bassban shore, they were disheartened. It seemed that they had lost. So, when Lord Yetaal announced that they had taken more than a hundred prisoners, and lost none of their own, their despair had turned into celebration and admiration for their leader.

Yetaal hated all this attention. For him the win was nothing more than an expression of his gratitude towards Nahuja Duja, the man who ha...

Lair Of The Monster- Chapter : Chief Father

As the warm afternoon breeze blew in, it brought the fragrance of wildflowers with it. Nahuja Duja took a deep breath, and smiled. "Smells just like Lasati," he told himself.

He stared at his image in the mirror, trying to remember how looked in his young age. He was not a bad-looking man in his youth, but too much of indulgence had made him lose whatever beauty he had. His fair skin was now filled with dark spots, his head was balding in patches, and his flat stomach had given way to a paunch. ...

Lair Of The Monster- Chapter : Journey

When Lokya woke up, it was past midnight. He was at the back of a horsecart, dumped over the luggage. Beside him, the priest was sleeping on his seat. A lantern hung in the front of the cart, and its dim light gave the priest a demonish appearance.

Lokya realized that he had been abducted.

"Stop the cart!" Lokya screamed. "Help, I want to go back."

The priest woke up with a start. He looked at Lokya, and slapped him hard on his head.

"Shut up," he shouted. "Shut up now, not a word!"

"Where are you t...

Lair Of The Monster- Chapter One: It’s Time

War is a smell – a smell of filth, a smell of sweat, a smell of flesh, a smell of blood, a smell of death; war is a stench that never goes away.

Prince Abhik stepped out of the water after a brief swim, and sat on one of the stones surrounding the lake. He could still smell the sweat and the blood and now that he was clean, he craved for more.

He dived back into the dark green water. Deep under, he closed his eyes and held his breath, savouring the stark silence and trying to remember the rush he...

The Uncharted Mind: Old Photograph

At some juncture in our life, we become an entirely different person than what we started as. Different dreams, different thoughts, different style, different life. When we look at our old photographs, it feels like we are looking at a stranger. Then, it makes us wonder when we stopped being that person in the photograph.
