The Countdown has begun

Seriously, there's a clock on the website now. Right there, to your left. Nope, look up. See it there? In two days The Covington Witches, part 1 will be released and I am tickled pinkish. Advance readers have been very pleased with the story and can't wait for part 2, and I think you will be also. That is, if you like your horror with a lot less gore and more atmosphere, you'll like this book. Also, if you can relate or enjoy reading about families and the drama they bring along for the ride, you'll like this book. And if you like being creeped out by the mundane, you will probably like this book.

I was reading an article a while ago by an actress who played on the old time series, Dark Shadows (I love that show!). Anyway, she likened Dark Shadows to terror rather than horror and I think that applies to The Covington Witches also. When some people think of horror now, they immediately think of slasher movies, which is not what I think of when I think of horror. The Gothic mysteries are what come to mind when I think horror. You know there is something coming, but you don't know what. But, I can guarantee it's not wearing a hockey mask and wielding a huge chef's knife.

Also, what is more frightening than a swamp at night? Yep, part of the story takes place in a swamp, at night. And did I mention there are witches? Stay tuned! The best way to do that is by signing up for my mailing list. That is the best way to get free stuff, stay up to date on upcoming release dates and any events that are happening around the book.

Check back here on Friday, January 10th. Purchase links for The Covington Witches will be live on the website after midnight on Friday.

Thank You and Release date for Part 2

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has read, reviewed, purchased, commented, downloaded samples, requested samples and emailed me about The Covington Witches, 'Thank You'! It's been quiet on the blog this week because I've been busy with the first installment, and revising part 2.

Oh, yeah, Part 2 is coming. Mark your calendars, my dearies, Friday, February 7th, Part 2 will be released!

In addition to revising Part 2, I've had my nose stuck in some very interesting books researching later parts of the serial.

So, someone asked me if agrimony will really put someone to sleep like it does (sort of) to Imara and the answer is, yes. According to my research, agrimony is an ingredient in sleeping spells. What's interesting is that it's traditionally been used by women who wanted to 'step out' on their husbands, so, they needed for them to be sound asleep through the night! You learn something new everyday, huh?

Question: What happened with that sleeping spell? Email me your thoughts so we don't spoil too much for those who haven't caught up to that part. And, if you haven't gotten that far --buy the book, it's a great Friday read!

Coming of Age

The writing is going well. Whether the story is completed during NaNoWriMo this year or not remains to be seen… This story is really a coming of age story for the main character, Imara Covington, and how she comes into her own and begins to get a glimpse into the incredible power that she wields in the course of the story. I've enjoyed taking the journey with her so far and meeting her, uh, shall we say colorful family members. There really is a whole world simmering beneath the surface here and I’m just glad I can come along for the ride.

Family Ties

Do you have family members that drive you insane? How do you handle them? What if your family was peopled with witches? That’s what the main character of my new book The Covington Witches has to deal with; learning that she comes from a family of witches, that apparently everyone else knows this and finding out that she is a witch herself! How will Imara handle the shocking revelations?

If the family can keep this secret, what other secrets are they keeping?
