2023 Beauty Gift Guide.
I love sharing my beauty gift guide every year! While you can find the beauty items I’m loving in my monthly favorites posts, the offerings during the holiday season are perfect for trying out new products or getting jumbo ones of your favorite size!
This is one of my favorite times of year because the gift sets are amazing – and you can get things to break apart and share with friends or use as stocking stuffers! If you want more ideas of things I love, you can always check out my monthly favorites posts.
2023 BEAUTY GIFT GUIDEFacial massager. I love how relaxing this is for the face. It’s great for skincare, but I love it for headaches too. And allergies/sinus pressure.
Hot pink ice roller. Same with this one! Plus, there isn’t a better looking ice roller out there.
Bader the rich cream set. I have now been using this for almost… five years? I can’t live without the rich cream.
Bader the refresh set. And this is another great option if you want to try the brand!
Hillhouse silk pillowcase. Last year I switched my silk pillowcase to this Hill House version and I LOVE it. This one has a zipper and it’s so silky smooth.
Elemis cleansing balm trio. I oil cleanse every night, and this balm is the first step in my routine.
Dyson supersonic hair dryer. This is a ridiculous splurge, but I adore it. Eddie got it for me for Christmas two years ago. If you have a lot of hair, you will LOVE this. It has changed the game when it comes to drying my hair.
Dyson airwrap. On that same note, this styler is also a game changer. If I can only take one hair styler somewhere, this would be it. It replaces hot rollers and a curling iron for me. It gives your hair so much body.
Good Girl gift set. The best scent of life. At one time I think this was the most popular perfume in the world. It’s warm and wonderful.
Killian Angels Share Perfume. You should probably know the person you gift this to: it’s a warm, spicy, ambery, almost apple cider-y scent and it’s incredible. SO good for fall and winter.
Water Resistant Toiletry Bag. Dagne Dover makes some of my favorite bags. Super high quality.
Origins body cream trio. My favorite winter body cream! The ginger is a nostalgic scent for me, warm, spicy and smells incredible.
RMS beauty glow kit. Everything RMS is about glow and highlight. I adore it.
Simple human makeup mirror. This is my everyday makeup mirror. It is a splurge but Eddie and I both use it daily.
Lighted makeup mirror. This is a brighter version of a mirror that the simple human one – if you like a lot of light, this is perfect.
Portable Makeup Mirror. Same thing, but look at the size! This is perfect for any travel or even the car.
Solawave skin care wand. Light therapy for targeted areas of the face. I really love this.
CALPAK cosmetic case. Have this in multiple sizes and love it, especially for travel.
Vanity Kit. This is another option that I have and love. It’s so easy to use and very very lightweight.
Coconut Milk Bath Soak. This is another bath soak I love. It smells like coconut milk, not tropical. No bubbles – just a soak.
Sephora Pro Brush Set. My favorite makeup brushes from Sephora – currently 30% off!
Sigma Brush Essential Kit. Sigma also makes the BEST brushes – I use many of these ones too.
Rice Sake Bath Soak. This is my favorite bath soak, I’ve put this in my favorites for years. It’s super relaxing.
Dior addict beauty set. This balm is worth the set alone!
Large Neutral Claw Clips. I love claw clips when I’m at home for keeping my hair up.
Creaseless Hair Clips. I use (and love) these every time I do my hair.
KNC beauty eye mask. This is one of my favorite under eye masks. And it’s so cute too!
T3 blow dry brush. Everything T3 is incredible and lasts forever. I just bought this brush.
Westman Atelier highlight trio. Some of my favorite highlights. Gorgeous shades and so natural looking.
Makeup Eraser Set. I use these to remove my makeup in combination with cleansing oil. Love ’em.
Fresh lip care trio. Another go-to of mine for almost a decade.
Dr Dennis Gross Faceware Pro Mask. I bought a red light mask last year and look like a lunatic but dare I say… it works?
Pro facial steamer. I bought this during quarantine and now I do regular mini facials. I love it. SO easy to use.
Lip Pro LED Device. The same as above, but just for lips!
Dyptique candle set. Love these for bathrooms. They are perfect little gifts.
Replica mini cologne set. Some of the best scents in my opinion – all very timeless, classy and delicious.
Slip scrunchie set. These are on my nightstand – I use them daily.
Value Size Bum Bum Cream. This body cream is my spring/summer favorite. I buy it at this sale every year.
Laura Mercier caviar stick set. I use these on my eyes everyday and I have for years. They are perfect.
Patchology eye masks. Excellent for waking up the eyes. These are so wonderful.
L’Occitane almond shower oil. This is a classic for the shower. Smells like heaven.
OSEA glow body set. Obsessed with the oil and balm. Both are fab!
Bobbi Brown face moisturizer duo. This is an incredible value. This cream is excellent under makeup.
Kate Somerville Radiant Skin Set. I buy a Kate set every year at Christmas. Eddie and I both love this.
Drybar Rollers and Hairclips Set. I bought this at the sephora sale and am super excited about it.

Ginger Lime Chicken and Rice Soup.
This ginger lime chicken soup is a bright and citrusy way to make dinner delicious! Served over cilantro lime rice, this is a cozy bowl that warms you right up.
Chicken soup season is in full effect.
This ginger lime chicken soup is cozy, comforting, bright and citrusy with a ginger zing. It’s served over cilantro lime rice to make a perfectly satisfying bowl. One that tastes delicious, fills you up and can work for dinner or lunch.
After all, leftovers are the best part!
I also love to make a chicken soup that feels like it can bust through any cold during this crazy fall season. Our house has been sick off and on for the last few weeks and making a citrusy soup is comforting and soul warming.
Takes some of the worst out of those colds!
Also, we have to note that this is an excellent recipe to use for leftover turkey! Replace the chicken with turkey and you have a delightful soup that can last through the weekend and keep you full.
And! Since it doesn’t have noodles in it, you don’t have to worry about them soaking up all the broth. Making this a truly ideal leftover soup.
Here’s how I make it!
This soup is incredibly easy. At the same time, it’s loaded with flavor. Thanks to the garlic and ginger powerhouse, the broth is rich and tangy and has a lovely bite to it.
The base is made with onions, garlic and fresh ginger – like, a lot of it. I like to use at least three or four tablespoons of fresh minced ginger. This can change based on your preferences. Add a little more or less.
I like to use a good quality chicken stock or even a chicken bone broth too. Something that has an excellent depth of flavor to it.
The chicken can be shredded for a rotisserie chicken or it can be leftover chicken from your dinner the night before. I use at least a cup of chicken, maybe two. Again, this just depends on your own preferences! Don’t be afraid to add a little something more or less based on what you and your family love.
While the soup is cooking, I make a batch of cilantro lime rice. I LOVE serving the soup over this. It makes it feel super hearty and the flavored rice tastes fancy and special. It gives it a little something extra than just regular old white or brown rice.
I store these separately and I serve them separately! I like to allow everyone to take a scoop of rice for their bowl. Then, ladle the chicken soup over the rice.
Finally, the toppings. Some extra cilantro. Another spritz of lime.
It’s the best! (more…)

A Week In The Life, Vol 47.
Oh this week.
Thankful for some magical sunsets this week.
Our week started out like most others and Monday morning was beautiful – the whole day we had incredible weather. But late that night, my brother suffered a major medical event during his hockey game and it’s very crazy how fast things can change. My brother is okay now, home, resting and recovering, thank God. We had just spent the entire weekend together. Emilia’s birthday, my dad’s birthday, his daughter’s baptism. It’s probably the scariest phone call I’ve ever received. I’ve relived it over and over again. All I could think about was that he has a baby! He is Max’s favorite person on earth. How is this happening!
I could write so much more. But, this has been the most incredible reminder as we go into Thanksgiving week of what we truly can be thankful for.
That morning, I was volunteering at Emilia’s kindergarten thanksgiving feast. I made the stuffing!!
Once we knew my brother was stable and okay, we resumed some of our normal week. Max had his last flag football game.
Jordy and I ran some errands, where he refused to sit down in the cart and also kept throwing off his socks and shoes. #thirdchild
This was right off our driveway. Incredible.
Wonder!
The kids also walked in light up night for their school.
We almost didn’t go, but it was 65 degrees! Last year when we went, it was 10 below zero with the windchill.
More beauty first thing in the morning.
And this little lovechunk out for a morning walk.
Speaking of lovechunks, I snuggled the heck out of my baby niece more than ever before, once my brother was home.
We have a local coffee shop that makes the best lattes.
Jordan in jordan.
This weekend we finally put up the kitchen tree. I did r! You can find many of the ornaments here.
We also put up our regular living room tree. I don’t love this tree in this space in our new house. But since we just moved in, I haven’t wanted to buy anything until we’ve lived in the space. We didn’t get any new furniture and I didn’t buy anything new for Christmas. I’m making lots of notes on what to change and get for next year as the weeks go on.
Cuties.
Max had a few games this weekend. It’s so fun to watch him play.
And then he asked me to take this photo. I love it!
Snuggles all around this week.

My 2023 Thanksgiving Timeline. How to Prep Everything One Week Leading Up To Thanksgiving!
My thanksgiving timeline is the key to a successful holiday meal! I come prepped and prepared for the holiday so I can make it fun and enjoyable for everyone. I love making a huge spread for my family and friends!
Over the years I’ve shared my Thanksgiving timeline and it’s been insanely helpful – especially to me! I look back on these posts on the actual day and follow them exactly.
I’m making a full spread and it’s always our best CLASSICS – my family only wants the traditional dishes on Thanksgiving Day. I don’t change a ton in terms of dishes I’ll be serving, and now that I have kids, it helps me SO much to be able to plan and organize in advance. It allows me to enjoy the day so much. Because I love cooking a giant spread for everyone!
I shared a post of all my Thanksgiving kitchen essentials, so be sure to check that out in case you still need to grab anything!
If you want to see a timeline for four weeks out, check out my 2020 timeline.

Sheet Pan Roasted Shrimp Tacos.
These roasted shrimp tacos are a weeknight favorite! Easy smoky shrimp roasted with corn, served with a crisp and refreshing lime slaw. Delicious!
I interrupt our Thanksgiving recipe programming for…
Regular food. Roasted shrimp tacos, to be exact. Smoky roasted shrimp tacos with corn and slaw, to be even more exact.
Whenever I have a few weeks of recipe testing, Eddie and the kids ask for “regular” food. Like, normal food. Nothing new or unusual, nothing crazy unique, just some good old regular food!
That’s what I consider these shrimp tacos to be. They are easy, simple, taste incredible and come together fast on a weeknight. They are also a crowd pleaser and relatively easy to serve when times are busy. Taco bars, forever!
I always find that we crave this kind of food during the holiday season. Something familiar and delicious, but not something heavy or wintery. After all the mashed potatoes and stuffing and gravy, I usually want a meal that tastes completely different!
And that’s exactly what we have.
To make these tacos, I throw raw shrimp, covered in spices, on a baking sheet. I toss in some corn, and while it all roasts, I make a slaw.
Our favorite slaw is simple: green cabbage, lots of lime, salt, pepper, olive oil, cilantro. Simple but crunchy and refreshing. A taco must.
Of course, other toppings are always welcome. We almost always have pickled onions and cotija cheese on hand. But any kind of salsa or pico is perfect too. (more…)

2023 Gift Guide: Under $25 & Best Stocking Stuffers.
Gift guide week is HERE! We’re kicking this off with the best stocking stuffer gifts – these gifts are all under $25!
I love making gift guides and this is crazy – it’s my 13th year making them. This is always my favorite gift guide to make. It’s easily the price range where I find myself buying the most gifts – whether it’s for a grab bag family gift (we pick names in a few instances in our family and it’s GREAT – highly suggest doing this if you haven’t yet.), a stocking stuffer, a teacher gift, a work gift, etc. And I have SO MANY IDEAS for you here.
Most of the things you’ll find in my gifts guides won’t be a huge surprise – I’ve talked about most of them throughout the years in my monthly favorites posts. There are repeats from years past, because I want to make sure I’m recommending something I have, use, gifted and/or love. However, I’ve scoured the internet and lots of my favorite places to curate a guide of things I really, truly love, and plan on gifting. This is my favorite list!
As usual, I’m sharing gift guides in addition to my regular content, so if these aren’t of interest to you, there will still be new recipes and/or Crumbs content every day!
