We’ve all had that moment. The moment when we’ve found our tribe. C.S. Lewis put it best when he said, “Friendship is born at that moment when one [person] says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .’” For many of us, that last sentence would be “I thought that no one but myself is this crazy about books!” And we find ourselves here, within the cozy couch-folds of The Nerdy Book Club.
Also for many of us, those friendships thus formed become something even more amazing, something more awesome: they up the stakes with marriage. Island of Legends Tour 2014: Tempe, Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Paul, Raleigh-Durham
Tour information is trickling in, so I thought I’d update you. Most of the time I’ll be touring with the prolific and awesome Margaret Peterson Haddix, whose new book in her Missing Series is called REVEALED.
I launch the tour close to home, at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, on Sept 2nd. Check out the link for special prize pack information.
Margaret and I meet up in Milwaukee the next day and will do an event at Boswell Books that evening, Sept 3rd.
We’ll be at Anderson’s Bookshop on Thursday, Sept 4, at 7pm, and at the Skokie Public Library near Chicago on Friday, Sept 5. Then we’ll head to St. Paul, MN for an event at Addendum Books on Sunday, Sept 7.
From there, we’ll head to Raleigh, NC, to spend a few days with Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill (store event on Sept 10) and Country Bookstore in Southern Pines, NC.
I don’t have all the information yet, but when I do, I will updated it on my website first, so keep an eye on my Appearances page. There are some times listed there as well.

Great news! You have several options to choose from when it comes to getting COOL FREE STUFF to go with your copy of THE UNWANTEDS: ISLAND OF LEGENDS (on sale Sept. 2, 2014).

Option 1: Pre-order a signed copy of ISLAND OF LEGENDS from my local independent bookstore, Changing Hands, and get an exclusive prize pack…and KITTEN! The tiny white Kitten figurine is exactly the same size as Kitten from the series. If you order from Changing Hands and you’d like the book personalized to you or someone else, either write that in the comment box when you place your online order, or tell them when you call to place your order. IF YOU DON’T SPECIFY A NAME, I’LL JUST WRITE SOMETHING SPECIAL PERTAINING TO THE BOOK LIKE “BELIEVE” AND SIGN IT. Okay? Okay! :)
Option 2: There are many other US bookstores that will have the prize packs as well, so watch your local bookseller’s social media to see if they are offering it. They won’t have the Kitten figurine, though. To get Kitten, you need to order from my local bookstore mentioned in option one, or come to one of my signings–check here for my tour schedule. MORE CITIES WILL BE ADDED in the coming weeks. Does this make sense? Yes? Great!
Note: There are a limited number of prize packs and Kittens, so this is one of those “While supplies last” things.
Option 3: Barnes & Noble Booksellers have a wonderful option, too. You can get an autographed copy of ISLAND OF LEGENDS with an exclusive extra chapter–an excerpt from Mr. Today’s journal. To get the signed version of this, you must order online. You will be able to find the exclusive content version in B&N stores beginning Sept 2nd, but those won’t be signed.
In other news, THE UNWANTEDS: ISLAND OF SHIPWRECKS (book 5 in the series) will be coming to stores February 3rd, 2015, and it is already available for preorder at Indiebound.org, Barnes & Noble, BooksAMillion, and Amazon. Isn’t that great? You don’t have to wait a whole year for the next book!
