What's your take on The Fifth Element? Definintely my favorite movie, and I absolutely love the Moebius feel that permeates the whole production?

It’s super pretty. and would go into my list of movies that are more Heavy Metal the movie than the Heavy metal movie. (along with Light years, Wizards, Fire and Ice ,Time Masters and Tron)

(from Light years AKA gandahar)

If I was gonna be super critical, my most cynical view on it is that they brought together some amazing designers to have them redo the kind of stuff that they’d already done in The Incal and Valerian. It could’ve been interesting to see where they went if tasked to do something that felt unlike anything else–

Tron is a cool example of a Moebius designed movie that does things differently from his comics.

But that said, I think the characters and scenes are fantastic. I loved seeing Tricky in it (I was soooper into his Blowback album) and Chris Tucker was amazing. –also Jamaican guys burning weird creatures off of space ships. –I feel like if you cut open James Stokoe’s heart you’d find those guys inside.

I really like the

 costumes for 5th Element– (

these two are drawn by Jacques Rey.

There was also a thing at that time where it seemed like a lot of (3?) European movies were coming out with the Leeloo hair.

Run Lola Run

And comic artist/Film maker Enki Bilal’s Tycho Moon

Here’s some 5th element designs by Sylvain Despretz. (who I think of as a more technical Moebius– his film work is worth looking up)

And of course Moebius being Moebius.

Here’s a nice video I saw recently with Moebius and Jean Claude Mezieres about their work on it: It’s too sweet.

and this one is about Moebius and Despretz, that I have yet to watch but hopefully will remember that I posted it.

A more name dropping diary comic than usual– but it’s nice to have cool people to get breakfast with. –This was drawn when I was in Vegas after me, Alejandra and Lee Roy finished working on a Woodrocket dinosaur porn movie.

Stopped by the Vancouver comic con today and got to meet @royalboiler and James Stokoe and only barely managed to hold onto my spaghetti. If you’re in town today I strongly recommend going and checking it out.

A scene from the Adventure Time episode Jermaine that I boarded with Jesse Moynihan. (I boarded the opening and closing scenes and he boarded the middle scenes- inside Jermaine’s house) Animation takes so many unfinished drawings to make a finished thing.
