My acting debut
That's right. I wasn't able to shuffle up to Buffalo for Greg Lamberson's "Slime City Massacre" movie shoot, but today I got to play a zombie in Christophe's new music video. It was hot, it was humid, but it sure was fun. We got kicked out of a cemetery, so we finished the shoot at Little River Park in Moore, a place I think would be nice for a werewolf flick. The video will debut at TrickConTreat. Sadly, I won't be there because I'll be in Tulsa for this. I'm sure it'll be online eventually ...

A better day
It's been all dark, depressing and stressful for me lately. Yesterday was a better day, though. It was the best day of school so far. There were a few reasons for that. The first is just the students. Kids I haven't even had in class -- sometimes kids I don't even know names for -- come by to talk to me, tell me they wish they were in my class, etc. One sophomore's even going so far as to claim to be my daughter (not sure I'm thrilled about that, but she means well), and yesterday she gave me a

Lighting the torches and sharpening the pitchforks
So, it's been a week since I updated this blog. I haven't had much to say ... not that I could say in a public forum, anyway. I've been stressed out to the point of having trouble sleeping and have virtually no ability to focus on something like, say ... writing.
School started for us last week. I transferred my three youngest kids to the grade school close to the high school where I teach. Our superintendent pushed through a measure last year that changed us from the block schedule to a seven-pe

A last-day-of-summer vampire rant
Yes, there is a rant, but it isn't here. I posted it at The Werewolf Saga Online site. Here's the thesis: I offer for your consideration the theory that today’s readers are the most self-absorbed and ignorant since the invention of movable type. I give my reasons and offer a poll to see if you agree. I'd really like to know what you think.
In other news, this is my last day off work before officially reporting back to school tomorrow. However, I've been at the school so much this summer it hardly

RIP John Hughes
If I had to check out suddenly at the young age of 59 but had left behind something as nearly perfect as The Breakfast Club, I'd be okay with that. Rest in peace, John Hughes.

A trio of reviews
A couple of weeks ago another teacher told me I'd been written up in The Current, an alternative newspaper published in Tahlequah, Okla. Roxann Rumor Perkins's piece isn't really a review, but it is all about Murdered by Human Wolves. She never says if she liked the book, but it did inspire her to go visit Katherine Cross's grave, so I take that as a postive.
Michele Lee gave Ulrik a four-star review. Her review is up in several places, but I found it here at Visual Bookshelf. It's also here at G

A challenge, and some random stuff
I made an offhand comment on Facebook the other day about something that happens in the new Werewolf Saga book and Rick Hipson accused me of starting with teasers. That wasn't really my plan, but ... it suddenly sounded like a good idea. So, I've created a new Twitter account and I'll be posting teasers from Nadia's Children there. When? you ask. Well, not until I get 100 followers. So, you want the teasers, start following me, and tell your friends. There's your challenge: Get me 100 minions o

Twitter and Movie Reviews
So, a while back I let the popular tide swallow me and drag me into the sea that is Twitter. I don't know why. Do I really need to be part of another social networking site? I already have a MySpace, FaceBook and LiveJournal, plus the real Web site (and its satellites). I signed up for Bebo once, but never went back. I have a Blogger account somewhere, too. Did I need this Twitter account? Probably not. But there it is. Follow me if you want. If I know you, or you seem interesting, I'll follow y

Lycanthropes Win First Vampire vs Werewolf Author Battle
A tanned, sexy vampire sweat under the Texas sun while waving at passing cars, many of which sounded appreciative honks, but in the end it was the clown suit-clad representative of the werewolves that came out on top in the first Vampire vs Werewolf event organized by authors Gabrielle S. Faust and Steven E. Wedel.
On July 18, Faust and Wedel visited Eerie Books of Wylie, Texas, to read, autograph books, and raise money for bat and wolf charities.
“I feel like it was a pretty good event,” Wedel,

Eerie Books & Vampire vs Werewolf signing
I'm going to steal a phrase from
carriejones to describe somebody, even if it does sound as girly as, I dunno, glittering vampires. Randy Ray of Eerie Books is "made of awesome." There. I said it. Yesterday's signing down in Wylie, Texas, was so much fun! Gabrielle Faust and I both read for a bit, then signed books for a while. Yes, that means people actually came! It was great. Then we all -- including my wife, Christopher Fulbright, Angeline Hawkes, Ethan Nahte, some other customers and employ
