Irma Singer (1898–1989) was a German-Jewish author born in Tochovice, Bohemia, then part of Austria-Hungary and now in the Czech Republic.
She later became known as Miriam Singer after emigrating to Palestine in 1920. Singer was a multifaceted literary figure who worked as a writer, poet, journalist, translator, pioneer (chaluza), and kibbutz kindergarten teacher.
Her literary journey began in Prague, where she was inspired by encounters with Jewish refugee children from Galicia whom she met at the Makkabi Jewish athletic club. Encouraged by renowned writer Max Brod, she began writing her fairy tales in 1914.
