Bertelsmann Releases Study on AI in the Media World - Publishers Weekly

V. V. Ganeshananthan Wins the $150,000 Carol Shields Prize - Publishing Perspectives

Panzer says, I wonder how many were on the long list. I wonder how many were on the long list.
Panzer was taking his afternoon nap when he was shaken from his kitty bed by clapping and cheering coming from the Catosphere. Hopping in the Panzermobile, he followed all the noise to the Publishing Perspectives site. There he discovered the announcement of the winner of the Carol Shields Prize for Fiction. Porter Anderson's post says V. V. Ganeshananthan's novel, Brotherless Night, won the $150,000 prize. The novel was chosen from a short list of five novels by the five jurors. The novel short list and the jurors list are included in the post.
Panzer says, "MeWOW! $150,000 would buy a lot of kitty treats."

European Council: The New 'AI Act' Gets Final Approval - Publishing Perspectives

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the Publishing Perspectives site. There our traveling kitty boy found a post about the new European Council's Artificial Intelligence Act.
 Porter Anderson's post explains the EC's AI Act, when and how it goes into effect, and the fines for AI companies' non-compliance.
 Panzer says, "There are a lot of links included in the post at the end you might be interested to read."

Six Email (and Snail Mail) Web Scams to Avoid - Nate Hoffelder Blog

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere before he started home, when he decided to stop at Nate Hoffelder's blog. With no digging at all in the posts he found one about scams you need to be aware of.
In his post Nate Hoffelder lists six scams with samples. He explains the scams and how they work.

Panzer says, "This little kitty knew about most of these, but there were a couple he hadn't seen before."

According to John Maher's post, Jenny Erpenbeak's book Kairos won the International Booker Prize. The book was a translation from German.
