From Wattpad to Simon and Schuster: A Novel's Success Story

That will buy a lot of kitty treats.Panzer was out in the Catosphere today and stopped in at Publishers Weekly.

Our bad cat boy reporter (try saying that fast!) found a success story that novelists who use Wattpad, or are thinking about using it, need to read.

Anna Todd uploaded her three volume novel to Wattpad last year and has now gathered 800 million reads. Yes, you read that right. 800 million! The novel(s) were put out for auction and Simon and Schuster won with a six figure bid.

Panzer says, "You should consider uploading your work to Wattpad.  Your FREE work could make you a lot of money."

Panzer on ownership

There's only two things to remember:

1) Not yours

... and ...

Don't touch that! 2)  Mine.

Promoting Your Book With Promo Websites

It's more than I had yesterday.Panzer was out in the Catosphere today looking for adventure.

My bad cat boy found thriller author Silas Payton's blog.

And what did he find there?

Panzer found Payton's list of five promo websites for books. Payton has the list broken into two parts: sites that require your book has reader reviews and sites that don't require your book have any reviews or just a few.

Panzer says, "I know five doesn't sound like many, but that's five more promo sites you can add to your list."

If you need more promotion sites for your book, tootle over to promotion websites.

Audio Books and the Indie Reader

Just jump right on.Panzer has told you before about the audiobook market. He's told you how to do it at ACX and where to do the selling at Amazon and Audible. Now, it looks like the rest of the indie world is catching up with him and you.

Today, my bad boy stopped in at the Indie Reader.  He found JH Mae's post Audio Books and the Indie Reader has some interesting information. Even Panzer didn't know Goodreads lists if you have an audio book version available.

Panzer says, "Have you jumped on the audiobooks wagon yet? If not, why not?"

Keyword Press and YouTube Stars

Doesn't make sense to me.Bad boy Panzer took a trip over to the New York Times site today.

He found a post he couldn't believe.

Simon and Schuster's Atria Publishing division has formed an alliance with United Talent Artists. The two have started a new publishing firm called Keyword Press. Keyword will publish books from YouTube stars.

You read that right.

YouTube stars will now be offered publishing contracts. And who are these YouTube stars? So far, they've signed Shane Dawson, Justine Ezarik, Connor Franta, Joey Graceffa, and Shay Butler. These five have 20 million subscribes among them on YouTube.

Panzer says, "What do YouTube subscribers have to do with publishing? I guess Keyword Press will find out."

This is a v-e-r-y l-o-n-g post, so grab a huge cup of tea before you go read it.

An Author Bio That Sells Books

Did you know?Panzer was speeding around the Catosphere today. He was looking for someplace new to visit. He happened to find Ben Zackheim's blog.

My bad boy found a post there about writing your author bio at Amazon and the other e-retailers. The tips in the post include how to fine tune each bio to the specific e-retailer. Turns out we shouldn't use the same bio at Amazon and Barnes and Noble or any of the others. Each gets their own special bio. By tailoring the bio to each e-retailer, you are enhancing your reader appeal and by extension increasing your sales potential.

Panzer says, "I didn't know they were each supposed to be different. I need to make some changes right now!"

If you want help with your author bio, tootle over to author bio.

A New Panzerism

They're getting heavy again.Panzer says:

Mom-Mom is really mean.

She woke me up a little while ago to call me lazy.

She doesn't realize this, but a cat's eyelids are really very heavy.

I've got to close them a lot for long times

... or risk serious injury.
