No money for marketing? Try this
When I first started with this business, I invested A LOT into marketing; ads, promos, graphics, you name it. Because I was still learning what the best ways to promote MY business were, most of the money invested was not returned. In other words, I spent more money on experimenting than I did actually getting results. Let’s face it, when it comes to promoting your businessit’s gonna be hit or miss until you get it, and the fact is that not every business owner has a huge marketing budget to...

Life Detour
This month has been in full swing with the life lessons. I started off strong, knowing exactly what I wanted to do. Things got a bit rocky in the middle of the month, and then BOOM! Now I’m off course…or so I thought.
I previously shared with you all that I’m packing up my stuff and traveling this summer. I gave up my room, and am currently in the middle of sorting through all my stuff; what to take, what not to take? I told you that I’d share with you where I’d be going…I was debating betwe...

The WORST thing you can do to your business
You can’t even imagine how many people I’ve worked with who do this to their business and blog; they leave out a key ingredient.
You have a great product, an even better message…great, I wanna get in touch with you…how do I do that? I CAN’T GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU! I can’t send you a message because you have NO contact info on your site. Your profile is private…and the list goes on.
I’m appalled. I can’t believe you would purposely make yourself inaccessible to your customers; to your subscr...

How to go from Failure to Success
I’m no stranger to failure. I can clearly describe every single time I’ve failed, and have written about my past failures many times over. Recently, one of my friends asked me how my business was going. I told her that I was at the best point in my life; the best business scenario I had ever been in. I had finally found my calling. She’s known about my struggles to build a business which makes me glow with pride and joy. She’s seen me down in the dumps. This time around she asked me, what cha...

Life is an Experiment
I enjoy changing my mind, making new plans, setting new goals; some of you may see this as wishy-washy. Last year I chose to try so many new things, including building this business. I’ve been able to FINALLY find my own way because I treat my life like an experiment.
If one thing doesn’t work, I ask myself why and move on to something which does work. When I was broke and unemployed in New York, and could not find a job at all whatsoever, I asked myself why. And when I couldn’t find the answ...

I can’t afford it
September 2012 I had just started working at a temp job, after almost a year of unemployment. I was so broke, I barely had enough money to gather the $2.25 fare for the train. There were some days I didn’t know if I would have enough to eat. My temp job only paid every two weeks, and being that I had just started I would have to wait a while before seeing my first check.
When the first check came, I used it to pay all of the bills which I wasn’t able to pay before; my cell phone, student loan...

Aim for the Big Fish
As a business owner, everything we put out to the world (as far as marketing) is done in the hopes that we’ll be visible to the people who need us; who need our products and our services. We hope that our visibility will be enough to place us in front of our ideal customers; those who know without a shadow of a doubt they want to work with us. They want what we have to offer. These are the folks we desire most to work with. To me, marketing is similar to fishing.
Having people buy from you, o...

Truth is
The truth is I quit my job back in October. My last day of work was October 31st, 2014.
The truth is I’ve been self-employed since 11/1/14; working right here. The truth is I created a purpose for myself, not another job.
The truth is, I will never again go back to a job. The truth is, I will never accept anything less than what I desire.
The truth is only a few people knew I quit my job; I quit the steady paycheck and benefits for the unknown. I quit my mind to follow my heart.
Truth is, I...
