Quickie
Oops, I never managed to update in January. Well, I was a bit preoccupied. First with the holidays, then with attempting to write three short stories in the span of... about six weeks? Maybe seven.
It was hectic up until February 1st, my last deadline, and I've been trying to give my head a break for the past ten days. It hasn't worked, and I think I need to give in and keep writing to battle this restlessness. I notice it was a lot easier to ignore vapid work drama when I've got writing goals to meet.
Some good news--great news, actually--my second submission to Dreamspinner was picked up! It's for the upcoming Juicy Bits anthology and we're just starting the editing process now. It's a lot less daunting the second time around, though the fact this story's only about 1/3 the length of the last one helps too.
Anyway, it's silly but what I'm most excited about is that apparently this anthology WILL BE AVAILABLE IN PRINT!! Ah, it's still my dream to be able to hold my own story in my own hands. I really do need an e-reader.

Reintroducing...
This is officially my first post as a published Goodreads author! AHHH!! Will this ever stop being so exciting? Do I want it to?
No.
Change of Fortune dropped on the first, and I nearly forgot about it. Why? Well, because I am a giant nerd and was too excited to go to the Dickens fair that same day. Costume-creating, penny-pinching, map-memorizingly excited. AND IT WAS AMAZING, SO.
We're definitely going again next year, and hopefully by then I'll have had the chance to get better at this book launching thing.
Until then, I have many plans for this space, and a few too many story ideas due in way too small a time frame. My life has changed so much this year, more so I think than any year in the past decade. Change and I never used to get along--why would we, when Routine and I got on so well together? Not every change was good at the time, but if they all together brought me here I don't regret any of them.
I understand that a lot of writers don't intend to put all those underlying themes and mindblowing allegories or meaningful symbols into their work. I also understand a lot of writers simply write what they want to read (myself included). So maybe it's no coincidence that my first story is about a year full of changes. It certainly helped bring about mine.

AAAAAHHHH!!
Discovering that the Advent Calendar was already up for sale sent me into a tailspin of crazy. I still don't know how I finally managed to settle down enough to give my story a final read-through, but my brain fought it for a long time.
This really shouldn't be freaking me out as much as it is--or was, I should say. It took some time to digest the fact my writing would be seen by someone other than myself or a handful of friends, even by friends and family who never knew I wrote at all, let alone what I like to write. I'm not crowing it from the rooftops, but I'm not hiding it anymore. It's kind of freeing. :]
Anywho. I CAME TO POST MY OFFICIAL COVER ART FOR MY NOVELLA!!!!! RAHHHH!
Ugh why is it all messy when it's shrunken down? Oh well... the full size is beautiful. To me. >.> Because it's exactly how I described my dream cover to the cover design team over at DSP. If only it were a printed story!
I need an e-reader ASAP.

Baby steps
This is my writing journal, isn't it? Why the hell have I been posting updates on facebook?!
It's been super exciting for me getting to work with the editors over at Dreamspinner Press. It gets crazier with every step. Now I've got a bio on the author page (OMG THEY HAVE THE ANTHOLOGY UP FOR SALE THERE!!) and I've just gotten a proof of the whole thing to finalize! AHHHH!
I can't wait to see my story sold on its own as a novella. I am in love with my cover, they really made it everything I could have wanted. Ahh what I wouldn't do to see it in hard copy form so I could touch it! Someday that will happen for me, hopefully.
In other news, I finally got out of my soul-killing job and will be working much closer to home now. I'm hoping this gives me a better work-life balance, so maybe it won't be a horribly stupid idea to attempt to write two new short stories for DSP (that are due a month apart) at once. We'll see how that goes. Maybe I'll even finish setting this place up one day!

Drabble A Day vol.42
Drabblesssss so late. Sorry. I had two days off in a row! It threw me off!
Okay so there will likely be another drabble break (did the last one ever really end?) since my goal is to write two new short stories for DS. Aaaand considering how much of my life he last one ate up, I am going to need all the time I can get. I am also currently trying to overhaul much of my life right now though, so who knows if both will even get written.

Drabble A Day vol.41
Ahh I almost forgot to do this today! And it turns out the reason I hadn't heard from the editors in so long was because my email ate their messages. -___- Yay another surprise deadline!
There's some preeeetty random stuff in here. Some far-reaching references, too. >.>
( And now I'm off to work, BYE. )

Drabble A Day vol.40
So much for being back in the swing of things. Sorry for the dedness, my life's been depressing lately. Had a minor emergency that came with an astronomical ER bill that maybe I will have the balls to try and contest, plus I'm trying to get out of my crummy job. :/ Wish me luck!
Also, apologies, this is a shorter volume than usual, and much more boring as well. I do have more I've been working on, which I'll try and post either tomorrow or Friday.

Drabble A Day vol.39
I'm back, DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNN. That only took two months. But I did get my story finished!
Trying to get back into the swing of things now. I did a couple random drabbles in July, so there's some extra ones in this volume. Hopefully that makes up for the utter lack of updates.
( Random pairings, a crazy AU, and NEW CHARACTER ALERT! )

Drabble A Day vol.38
Welp, no post last week. I had a bad plague and fell behind about four days, then decided to just take a break. So this volume's got some extra drabbles!
I've decided to prioritize my short story, though. I might be drabbling intermittently rather than regularly, so the next post will likely be delayed as well. I just realized how much story I have left to write and kind of panicked at the deadline since I don't know how long editing will take, and I have limited writing time.
( Enjoy for now~ )

Drabble A Day vol.37
Wooooo I did it before midnight finally! Ugh I am so sick this week. Blehhhh.
Lately my drabbles have been serving as writing warm-ups for a new short story I'm doing, so... if they suck, that's my excuse. Though that was kind of their intended purpose in the first place, so meh.
( Gonna Nyquil myself to sleep tonight )
