Microblogging... microinterviewing?
Just a quick post to say I've been hosted by the lovely L. Blankenship over at Unicorn Bell! Quick rounds of questioning are fun. Plus there's the first exclusive look at my upcoming novella, including the amazing cover which I love love love.
Also, a pre-announcement announcement... in two weeks' time, all are invited to a fabulous birthday party. Stay tuned for details.

Robin
To die, to sleep.
To sleep, perchance to dream.
Ay, there's the rub.
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil
Must give us pause.
There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said by hundreds of thousands, no, millions of people already. But this is for me.
The world is a sadder place today with the passing of Robin Williams, who entertained, raised, guided, and moved generations of people in a long career and a life ended too soon. But it will not be sadder forever. How can it be? When the light and laughter he brought to us is given to us again and again, recorded, uploaded, replayed, replayed, replayed.
It is sad today, and the world feels the loss. But that in itself is heartening, to see how endless the condolences and remembrances are, to know none of us is feeling the loss alone.
Like everyone the world over, Robin was a constant in every stage of my life. In childhood, through Aladdin, Jumanji, and Mrs. Doubtfire. Adolescence, through Hook, Good Morning Vietnam and What Dreams May Come. And adulthood--Good Will Hunting, whatever old Robin Williams movie happened to be on TV that day, and the delightfully vulgar standup routines on Youtube, now that we're old enough to get all the jokes.
It's why he worked for everybody, and why everybody mourns today.
I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area my entire life. It was always a dream of mine to run into Robin Williams in San Francisco somewhere. It's hard knowing that not only will that dream never come true, but that it's a dream I can no longer even hold on to.
So many of his movies stick with me to this day. What Dreams May Come introduced me to an afterlife I never imagined possible, but one that I deeply, dearly hope to be real. To know that there is a place we will go after the end, where we fulfill the dreams we weren't able to in life. To be able to choose to stay there, or to take that beautiful, terrible plunge back into mortality.
Robin, wherever you are, may it be everything you couldn't find down here. Maybe we'll meet there someday.

Thoughts at 3AM
Here we go! Bit of a new look for the blog. This is the month things will get rolling around here, if I can still manage to find time to catch up. It's already August, people, the year is basically over.
You know when you're a kid and all you think about is everything you want to be when you grow up? I never cared too much what I would wind up doing, so long as I was happy doing it. Well, here I am, all grown up and praying one day I'll be able to quit my day job. :|
Am I the only one who can't get the Weird Al versions of songs out of their head? Has ANYONE else had "Tacky" stuck in their head for the last two weeks?
Crap I forgot to pay my last bill. And I forgot to email people at work. I need to start making to-do lists again.
I really need to start going to bed earlier, but for some reason it's just easier to get stuff done after midnight.
I really, really, really wish the next book I have coming out were long enough to have a printed edition, because the cover is amazing and it just needs to be touchable. Might be time to start something longer than a novella.
Oh yeah, and my free story for the M/M Romance Group's Love's Landscapes event is available as a cute ebook now! I wish that were touchable, too. They need to make like the adult version of Little Golden Books. For M/M romance? What would that be? Little Black Books?
Hm...

Belated Brunch
I forgot I only posted this to my twitter. My bad.
ZAM hosts Sunday Brunch every week, and this week I got to answer the burning question: What is the best invention ever, and why? Have a look and share your own thoughts on the matter.
In other news, it's Christmas in July at Dreamspinner Press. All holiday ebooks are on sale all month, and every day three new books are on sale for 99 cents each. Check back on the 21st if you want to snag mine. ;)
This month is still killing me. And my eyes. Sitting in front of two monitors for ten hours at a stretch is not good.

List of things
Holy crap, long time no post. My life gets away from me sometimes (a lot of times).
Some things that have been keeping me busy:
1. Story for the M/M Romance group's Love's Landscapes writing event over at Goodreads. Posting's a month in now, check it out for over 200 free reads! Though mine's not up yet, there's plenty to keep one busy.
2. Editing a new release for the fall. This is a very serious undertaking, one I'm still not sure I'm ready for. Well, too late to worry about that!
3. New WIP thaaaat I'm pretty sure will not make its deadline... oops.
4. Prepping for YaoiCon. I've never gone to a convention as anything but a regular attendee, so I'm starting small with a stop at the DSP table (hopefully).
5. As always, Real Life™. A good friend's wedding is only a month away, then I've got some vacation time in September I'm trying to wrangle whilst my boss leaves us high and dry at work.
People everywhere are acting like they've got bugs up their asses these days. Must be the heat. Don't let it get to you!

Blog Tour Complete!
My first foray into blog touring finishes with a bang over at Raine O'Tierney's Hat Party, an interview which I really hope to experience again. I might have to pick a different dachshund next time.
I hope anyone bored enough to wonder who I am has found at least some amusement through this tour. If you're bored right now, here's the tour in full.
And here are some fish you can feed:
I've got two projects in the editing queue to fret over, and two others to plan out, one to start writing. Break over!

Holiday Away
Happy Mother's Day!
Ah, the brief time in between projects is short but sweet. This weekend has been stressful for other reasons (work drama and problems with annoying neighbours), but not sweating a deadline has made things easier.
But yes, today is Mother's Day. I made my mom brunch and bought her some fancy chocolate bars.

Pictured: Mini frittatas, lemon blueberry bread, fresh navel oranges, David's tea, and chocolate.
Not pictured: Mom and me off to the side salivating.
Going to spend the rest of the day digesting and planning out my next project. It's amazing what you can do when you wake up before 10AM.

Happy Release Day!
At long last, Juicy Bits has arrived!
Actually it's been out for an entire day already, ugh. I promised myself I would be on top of my next release (minds out of the gutter please) and just like last time I missed it. Just too busy today!
Related though, my interview with one of the characters also went live today, check it out here. It's fairly short and hopefully amusing to more than just myself.
I needed to be asleep two hours ago, excuse me.

Finally it begins!
I've never done a blog tour before (why would I need to?) and I have no idea how long they usually are. This was completely unintentional, but it's just a little too easy to find fun blogs to guest on. Find out where I'll be over the next three weeks, and check back here for links!
The 'This is A. Morell' Blog Tour Spring 2014
4/20/2014 - Sunday Brunch with Z.A. Maxfield
4/28/2014 - Character Interview and Release Date with Lex Chase
5/4/2014 - Sunday Brunch with Z.A. Maxfield
5/5/2014 - My Bad Writing Habit with Brynn Stein
5/8/2014 - Weaknesses and Guilty Pleasures with Grace R. Duncan
5/15/2014 - The Hat Party with Raine O'Tierney
This is A. Morell, and this is A. Morell's cat:

She is having none of it.

Announcements!
Radio silence, always.
Real life continues to try to bog me down, and I'm fighting it tooth and nail. I can't believe we're already halfway done with April, and I've got events in my planner all the way through September. Remember when the world was supposed to end in 2012, and how it's already two years later?
Anyway, the announcements!
First, and I can't believe I didn't manage to post about it sooner, but I've signed on to release my very first standalone novella through DSP! It was meant to be part of another anthology, but I try to think outside the box for those submissions and I think this one was a little too far out there, haha. That should be out sometime this fall.
Second, in honour of the release of "Sparks" at the end of the month, I'll be doing my very first blog tour! I'm thanking all my lovely blog hosts in advance for putting up with my n00bery. I'll post the schedule soon.
And third, I've caved and made myself a Twitter. Come play #HashtagWars with me and @midnight, learn to love the San Francisco Giants, and get updated on my daily average life.
Carry on!
