Nelly Net, pt 2

Well, I asked my editor what she thought about the problem . . . and her thinking is that everything is fine the way it is.

Over 35,000 of you are reading Kris in a paperback.  There, the all small caps is working fine.  According to my latest royalty statement, only some 300 of you are reading Kris on some flavor of hand held.  From my editor's point of view, the needs of the 35,000 outweigh the 300.

Which isn't to say that we are ignoring the 300.  (They could well be Spartans and we know...

Nelly Net

A gal and her computer talking to each other in the privacy of her own skull is not something you run into in every book.  Probably, the average reader doesn't run into it in many books.

As readers of Kris Longknife's adventures can tell you, it's been happening for a while and is going to happen a whole lot more now that Nelly's kids are running around.

Using "all small caps" to separate it from narrative and normal dialogue has worked fine for paperback readers.  Not so good for e-book...

Kris Longknife — Redoubtable is delivered.

About 11:00 pm on New Years I delivered Redoubtable to Ace.

Nikki, the granddaughter who is the motivating power behind this story line watched me . . . and said something about Grampa being crazy to be working this late and on her holiday.

She's right.  Next year I will deliver Daring way ahead of the holidays.  I will.  I will.  I will.

The Trouble with E-books

Kris has been getting comments about how her books are showing up in e-books.

Several people have noticed that the there's a certain something lost in translation.

I got a good question on that from one of you.

"the Kindle version of Undaunted has some odd formatting issues in it.  Sometime in the middle – I just opened to chapter 20 and can see the problem occurring on the first page of it – words suddenly start getting random capitalization.  And while its when Nelly is definitely going a bit ...

Hello  All,

Welcome to Kris Longknife's wardroom on the Wasp.  This is a place for her and her fans to chew the fat, share thoughts on her latest misadventures and comment on just about anything they want to about what is not going right in Kris's life.
