DAY 98 - To Be Liked
Welcome my wonderful readers!
Back in the good ol' days to be liked meant someone had to know you, to have spent time around you to come to the conclusion that you had a good heart, a kind character, an honest nature. In other words, you had to earn it with your genuine self. Gone are these days of authenticity that helped build strong positive reputations that would ultimately become one's legacy. For now, in this cyberage, we cast our judgments, oftentimes in haste, through a variety of 'social media', are ballot boxes being that of 'smart devices'.
That good heart, kind character, honest nature means nothing, for for the only thing that matters now is how many online 'friends/followers/fans' you have, how many LIKES, retweets, favorites you have accumulated.
Viral is the new platinum.
So yeah, as an author who approaches radio stations for interviews, literary agents to represent my work, celebrities to endorse aka blurb these literary works, I am fully aware that my competition changes on a daily basis. Today it could be a cute little cat performing a cute little trick, while tomorrow could have Bieber finding another way to kiss his career goodbye. "I think that I was detrimental to my own career." (Talk about prophetic!)

(5 minute, 15 second mark)
The sad truth is, it's all about the LIKES. Actual literary talent will take a back seat to cyber-pop. I could write one of the greatest stories ever told, but if my LIKES are in low digits, my queries to the powers-that-be will just be ignored as junk mail. But if those numbers happen to have a nice big M placed beside them, rest assured those Millions of LIKES would have the biggest publsiers in the game filling my inbox with offers to be my 'friend'.
So whatdya' say? How 'bout arming me with a few dozen LIKES and SHARES over on my facebook author page to help better my chances of winning this battle with these big-wigs? Thanks for your support!

DAY 106 - DREAMS
Welcome my wonderful readers!
Funny how things that you are not familiar with can pose problems for you in the dream world, while things you are fluent in can center around those dreams.
Given the fact that I had a few solid years of martial art training back in the 1990's, I often dream of being in physical confrontations. But sometimes there's a gun involved, so although I'm pretty comfortable with disarming, whenever it comes to actually using the gun, I always seem to have a hard time. I'm sure this is because other than only having a couple of experiences shooting, it's not part of my background.
I once had a teacher who said that the subconscious is powerful, but stupid. To some extent, on the surface, this appears to be true. But I think that there's a lot more to it that will be revealed later on down the road. I mean as far as human evolution goes. It is a fact that there's a lot more to be learned from dreams than what we already know. And in my opinion, it's a huge part of the mystery to who we really are. I guess this is why I explore dreams a bit in some of my writings, including my upcoming novella, Destined.
For now, I'd just be happy if I could figure out how NOT to wake up in a sweaty mess when having those subconscious battles!
See you tomorrow:)
