I've had a variety of jobs, including waitress, library assistant, nurse, and police officer. I hold a BSc in Health Studies, and a PG certificate in Primary Education. The scenic west coast of Scotland is where I live with my family.
I didn’t set out to write Fantasy, but when I sat with my laptop to begin The Calling, It became apparent that I still believed in Bogey Men, the Monster in the cupboard and of course, the Faeries at the bottom

Thank you so much for your question. I'm afraid that I'm the sort of person who takes inspiration from just about everything around me. I can spend time wondering about the wildlife under the rocks in the garden, or speculate about what prompted an act of kindness from a miserable neighbour. I like to dream about other lands and peoples. I love the UK and Ireland, the places, the cities and the amazing people. My own country is a constant source of inspiration, and Scotland is steeped in a gorgeous, proud and rather bloody history. We have scenery that would take your breath away. I live in Ayrshire and regularly venture north to the highlands. I've visited lots of amazing countries in Europe, Africa and visited the US numerous times - There is inspiration to be found everywhere and in every possible situation!
'Get to the point', I hear you say, and I promise that I will before your eyes glaze - I hope.
I do suffer from an over active imagination and I've always written in some way shape or form during my work life. In Autumn 2011 I was on Saltcoats beach when the opening chapter of The calling just popped into my mind. I stopped right at the spot where Carolyn throws herself over the barrier and into the water beyond!
When I returned home that evening, I started writing on my old laptop and it was like a dam had burst. I couldn't seem to write fast enough to get the story out of my head and onto a word document. Now, after two books, I'm not sure if I can get everything into the proposed trilogy, but I'm definitely going to try.(less)

Louise White Oh, you need to tell me what you think of it. I would highly recommend Firestarter or maybe The Talisman's even better. I read The Talisman when I was an older teen and totally and completely loved it- One of the few that I would read several times over! Firestarter by Stephen King The Talisman (The Talisman, #1) by Stephen King

Gina's I'm currently reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King from Stephen King

(It's the first book I have ever read written by him, I'm excited :)

Jola Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out sometime!
