The Solemn Sea
Relief: A Journal of Art and Faith accepted my poem "The Solemn Sea" for the 2019 issue. The poem is actually a sequence of seven poems, and explores the reality of disenchantment (see Charles Taylor) in our postmodern world. The Solemn Sea draws inspiration from Melville, Homer, Shelley, the Apostle Paul, Twitter, and the Lewis Chessmen. Copies of the journal can be purchased here:

My sincere thanks to John Ballenger and the editorial staff at Relief for supporting my work.

The Solemn Sea
I've partnered with Daniel Poon, a local Seattle artist, for my next major work: "The Solemn Sea." The poem has seven "movements," and is a meditation on (dis)enchantment that takes cues from Homer, Melville, Plath, and others. Daniel has begun work on icons / plates to accompany each section. I admire Daniel's keen eye, and deft aesthetic sensibility. We hope to publish this collaboration as a limited edition chapbook. Please send word if you know a publisher who might be interested in this project.
In other news, ASMF: Second Edition is still slated for a September release. If my sources are accurate, a review in The Christian Century will arrive concurrently. Happy news indeed.

Anchor and Plume + ASMF News
Dear Friends,
I received word that Anchor and Plume, the publisher of After So Many Fires, is closing its doors. It's a tough season for small presses everywhere, and my heart goes out to Amanda Mays (Editor) and the entire staff at A&P. If you'd still like a copy of ASMF, you can purchase one directly from me. I'm currently in talks with Wiseblood Books about a possible "second edition" (with additional poems). Stay tuned.

ASMF
Peter Hartwig offers a sterling review of After So Many Fires . You can read his appraisal over at The Imaginative Conservative or by following the link below. I'm grateful for Peter's erudite analysis and generous reading of my work. From the review ...
"In the poetry of Jeremiah Webster’s After So Many Fires, we have found Flannery O’Connor’s Protestant counterpart. Though an Anglican, Dr. Webster weaves his words on the same theological loom as O’Connor, seeing in the world’s maddening duality a divine coherence…"
