Art Unboxed Art And Social Media

Sharing your art on social media is fun, and I think that’s a huge part of it. I’m sure many artists have social media strategies, ways it enhances their art or career, and various other valid goals. At its core, I think it should be fun. I love seeing what other artists are posting about their work for three main reasons.
First I enjoy art. It’s why I became an artist, I liked looking at drawings and paintings before I ever tried to draw or paint myself. It gives me another positive to add to my day and that helps my mindset. My guess is most of us are trying to replace our negative intake with positives in this day and age, and viewing art on Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook helps me to do this.
Second, it inspires me. When I see an interesting portrait or landscape, it gives me an idea to try a variation of it myself. While I don’t have a kiln or ceramic shop, many statues have inspired me to draw an animal or portrait. Interesting landscapes in oil have inspired me to try a version of that location in digital or watercolor.
Third, it allows me my own chance to share a little of positivity with the world. If a drawing, painting, or watercolor I’ve drawn makes someone smile, it’s a plus. If one of my inspirational works helps to encourage a soul that may be facing challenges, that is an even greater reward. If we can, even in a small way, better someone else by a post on social media why not? It’s my goal to share a smile, an encouragement, and a hope everyday.
How do you post your art on social media? Do you see the return that you want to see? Perhaps you may not monetarily, but if you made someone else have a pleasant moment, you’ve experienced a far greater profit.
