Walt Disney Jim Henson
As a kid, when it came to entertainment, there were different layers, but at the top were two men, Walt Disney and Jim Henson. I can’t think of many that I put in the same category as those two men. Chalk it up to what you will, but those two men did something that, to me at least, was rarely duplicated.
They didn’t just imagine worlds. They imagined places loved by millions of children. Generations of children. I didn’t understand a lot, but I trusted Uncle Walt, and Jim. I don’t know when I realized Walt had passed, but I remember watching the videos of him talking directly to everyone on the Wonderful World Of Disney.
To this day, I watch Muppet Family Christmas every year, and my favorite scene is at the end when Jim Henson washed dishes. In my own stories, I try to do something they did. I try to share something that is entertaining, but also engages the imagination. Something that, might just be a little unforgettable, I don’t know if I succeed, but I sure love trying.
They didn’t always succeed by the way. They had their failures, or their lessons. They learned from what didn’t work, and they applied that to their next success. It took Walt Disney years to make Mary Poppins, but I think he, and generations of fans would say it was worth it.
Kermit looked different the first time Jim brought him out. Yet, few remember that, all they remember, is the little green frog, and a couple of songs that people from all walks of life can complete the lines too. What failed project are you regretting that may not be a failure at all?
What you view as a failure, may simply be a jigsaw puzzle. I encourage you to take that project, mentally take it a part, and put it back together in a different way. You may find a Kermit in that puzzle. It may be more felt than failure if you look at it right. Who knows, maybe you just need a spoonful of, well you know.

That, That Is Art
Psalms 111:4-5 (KJV)
4 He hath made His wonderful works to be remembered: The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He hath given meat unto them that fear Him: He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
Psalms 113:5-6 (KJV)
5 Who is like unto the LORD our God, Who dwelleth on high,
6 Who humbleth Himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
I love art, I love artists, I don’t love the egotism associated with art. That’s simply because I don’t care for arrogance. I’ve been guilty of it myself, but I’m working on that. The reason I love art, is not only for art, but for what it represents.
Consider a moment, if you combine yellow, red, and blue paint, you get a gray. Combine yellow and red, and you get orange. Yellow and blue make green. You say a child knows that, yes, but Who decided that? Who decided what blue would look like?
Oh, blue is the color of water, but Who decided both water and blue would be that color? God is so amazing that, He not only made the worlds, He made them beautiful. He not only made the colors of the world, He blessed us with the colors of life, and decreed how they would mix together.
Like us all, colors were made to interact. Man was made to interact, both with God, our primary, and each other, the tertiary. If you are an artist, you know that a primary color is something that is a stand alone color. A tertiary color is made up of primary colors, just as orange is a tertiary, but red and yellow are primary colors.
None of us, would be here without God. Without Him, there would not be a here. Without Him, there would not be anything. Yet, He loved us enough to create worlds, universes, and laws, even down to something as simple as color.
Who would have thought that a child’s crayon box, reflected The Love Of God? The blue of Heaven, the Red, His blood, shed for you and I. The orange, the sunrise that His Spirit and Flesh brought to us through the combining of both, and His sacrifice. He didn’t have to explain things to us on such an elementary level, He is God Almighty, but He wanted too.
The four verses I shared, reflect this. Psalm 111 says He is ever mindful of His covenant. Psalm 113 says He humbles Himself to behold the things of Heaven and Earth. God Almighty, The Great and Matchless One, of His Own accord, continuously lowers Himself to watch over us! He loves us enough to humble, or abases His self to watch over us day in and day out.
Oh what love! That God Who is high, loves us enough, not only to make worlds for us, but stoops Himself to shelter, and protect us! That, that is art. That is majesty! That is Love! Before He modeled in the visible Love, by wrapping Himself in flesh, and walking Earth to die for you and I, in the invisible He lowered Himself to watch over us.
So when you look at blue, red, green, or yellow. When you see a sunrise, a crayon box, or the colors of the trees, remember, God painted all of that, just to let us know He loves us. What a masterpiece!

A Little Joy
This time of day is my favorite. My wife, Nicholas, and Patches are safely in bed, just a few feet away. I’m setting in my chair, with my wolf blanket, on my iPad, with the tv in the background. This is one of my favorite times, not because they are asleep, but because they are near, and I’m spending a little down time.
Down time is wonderful, as long as it doesn’t take away from the needs of the family. Everyone needs a few minutes, but I feel better knowing they are taken care of first. When you love others, you seek, as much as possible, for we all slip at this, to put those you love first. It’s the way things should be.
Are you having trouble with someone in your life? Maybe it’s a loved one, maybe it’s an acquaintance, maybe it’s a coworker. Can I make a suggestion to you? You’ve tried things, and they haven’t worked. Why not try something counterintuitive?
Seek to do something for them, without any benefit to yourself. Plan something they would like, not for your gain, but for their pleasure. You will be surprised at the results, even if they’re not exactly what you expect.
This doesn’t mean that the two of you will become the best of friends. It does mean that you will be carrying out an unselfish act. Doing something for others, always blesses you, because it changes your mindset. It causes you to open your eyes to the needs of others.
When it’s someone you have had issues with, it can also open your eyes to their pain. If you see their pain, you may see why they react to you the way they have. It may have nothing to do with you, and everything to do with their sorrow. If so, at the very least, you’ve brought a little joy to a pain filled life.
It may remind them, someone cares for them. Someone is out for more than what’s in it for them. It can restore their faith, encourage their hearts, and give them hope for a better day. I believe it is our duty to share joy in this world, wherever we can.
It may, or may not benefit you in the end. It may restore a relationship, it may make a friend. I don’t know. I don’t know the pain, the problem, or the people involved. I do know, a kind and selfless act brings some light into every life, and everyone of us needs that. At the end of the day, if nothing else, you can look back, and smile, that you made someone else smile, lifting at least the wait of a frown off their shoulders for a moment or two.

Sustain
Sustain
Psalms 55:22 (ESV)
22 Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Sustain, did you know the same Hebrew word, kul, is translated as provide, provided, nourished, food, provisions, held, contain, hold, endure, and enclosed? On this Monday, which word do you need?
Do you need provide? God will provide for your situation. No, I don’t know what the situation is, but I know Him. I know He has created planets, oceans, solar systems, and humanity. He knows how to create what you need today.
Do you need provided? No they are not the same. One is a reassurance He will, and the other is a reminder He has. Don’t look at your present problem through the lens of today. Look at it through the lens of what God has done for you. If He did it once, He will do it again!
Do you need nourished, food, provisions? He will feed the hungry soul, the empty stomach, and the sorrowful spirit. Maybe you need something today, He will provide, but maybe, He is asking you to be the one to speak into a hungry soul today? Maybe there is an empty stomach your resources can fill. Is there someone hurting that you can try their tears? He does through His people!
Do you need held today? His shoulders are strong enough to carry our burdens. To comfort our pain. To silence our fears. He held you before the sun rose, and He will hold you in the moon’s glow!
Do you need Him to contain something today? Bring your sin, your problem, your hurt, your fears, and your questions to Him today. You will find peace for your soul.
Lastly, do you need to endure, and to be enclosed today? Trust Him, and you will endure! Call on Him, and He will see that you are enclosed today like a plant in a greenhouse. Flourishing regardless of the outside circumstances. Pastor Denny Livingston has said many times, we are part of God’s economy, not this world’s!.
Today, let Him sustain you. Whatever form you need. He has a Word for you today, and that Word is Hope, Life, and Peace for your souls!
