"Crickwing" and "Hosni the Dreamer"

Self confidence is so important. It is fragile and will crack under attack from others. But determination can hold it together.

Crickwing is a cockroach. Before you cringe and flee, there are almost 4,000 species of cockroaches as an information page at the end will explain. This cockroach is a forest floor resident.
A toad attacks and leaves this cockroach with a dislocated wing giving it the name. Being bullied, it looks for someone smaller to bully and finds the leaf cutter ants.
These inoffensive farmer ants are not happy being bullied. They retaliate. But they are not mean and don't feed him to the army ants.
Now the army ants are planning total destruction of the leaf cutter ants.
Crickwing to the rescue.
The illustrations are bold, colorful, and bring the forest area to life. There are also small line drawings of actions leading to the large images.

Hosni the Dreamer

Author: Ehud Ben-Ezer

This is an Arabian tale. The illustrations made me think of the "Arabian Nights", the desert. The camels are superb.
Hosni is a shepherd for a sheikh. He is allowed to go to the city with the sheikh and others to sell camels. He has long dreamed of going to the city.
While there, with the money he is paid, he buys a verse, some advice, for which the others laugh at him. On the return trip, this advice is ignored by all, but Hosni.
