Creative Process
I was recently asked what my creative process is when it comes to writing. I laughed at first because when I thought about the answer it seemed a little silly to me, the answer is I watch the episode of Everybody Loves Raymond where Deborah writes a children's book. I don't know what it is about that episode but when I watch it even if I'm not in the mood to write; it triggers something and I just have to write.
Watching that episode definitely inspires me I can't explain why, but I cannot credit everything to that episode. I remember reading a number of children's books, especially ones that were my favorite growing up. In the end I couldn't force it. If it wasn't there, it wasn't there. I'm ok with that I would rather wait until I am content and happy with my work then to rush or force something that I feel I'm settling for.
Once getting into that moment where everything is flowing I can't stop until I hit a block or I finish. Then let it sit, come back to it in a few days with fresh eyes and see how I feel about everything. This is something that I appreciate now more than I did before, something I wish I could go back and do over on some stuff but it's like they say sometimes "That's the way the cookie crumbles."

What makes a good book?
What is a good book? A book doesn’t have to win an award to be considered “good.” It doesn’t have to be a best seller or on a recommended booklist, either.
A good book is simply one a child enjoys reading. Sometimes the best books are hidden gems that you didn't even know were out there. Take a look and pick up a book, you never know what you might just find.

Importance of Reading
It may seem surprising but true; in today's technology-dependent world, little focus is being placed on the importance of reading to kids. When in reality it should be the exact opposite! Getting children book selections and reading to kids is important now if the children are to develop a desire for reading in the future or for the long term. Reading teaches children how to do new things, how to handle life situations, keeps their curiosity alive, the list can go on forever.
While it is true that the Internet is becoming a learning resource for children, it is equally true that a good reading ability is needed to actually harness the educational offerings on the Internet. Thus, book reading should come first, and an appreciation of the Internet and technology should come second.
If we want our little ones to have this love of reading, and a desire to read then we need to take that first step by showing them how to do so. Unplug from the world and curl up with a good book, cup of cocoa (or favorite beverage) and your little one to not develop a love of reading, but to make lasting memories.
I know for myself those are some of the fondest memories I have is when my father would read to me my Looney Tunes books before bed. Something that was so simple and easy to do really made a lasting impression on me. An impression that I know will also make a long lasting one on your children too.
Have an adventurous day!

Can you encourage reading?
Encouraging children to read for pleasure is something that is easier said than done. Living in a world where there is a plethora of other leisure activities for one to chose from, you might ask: ‘How can I really accomplish what seems to be a mammoth task?’
Don’t limit how, what (within reason of course, as a parent you have to use discernment) or where they read; all kinds of reading count! Graphic novels, magazine articles, websites, and eBooks on mobile devices, they should read what they enjoy. Explore ways to have fun with reading. For example: creating books, poems, songs, puppet shows, and computer art and stories, even acting out their favourite stories. Let your child’s interests and enthusiasm inspire and guide new activities!
Set aside a time for Family Reading. Turn off the TV. Have everyone in the family choose something to read (newspaper, book, magazine etc). Showing your kids that everyone reads for enjoyment is important to helping them build a love for reading.
Have an Adventurous day!

Bedtime Story
Did you have a favourite bedtime book or series that you loved when you were little?
When I was little my mother bought me the entire Looney Tunes series. Every night I would make her read me at least 2-4 books, and when the series was complete; again she would start. Those nights are some of my fondest memories growing up laying in bed as my mother read to me. When my father read to me he would do the voices for each character, and that really made bedtime stories come alive for me.
Many of us have fond memories of our parents telling bedtime stories. Children love stories and they usually look forward to bedtime stories every day. You can share quality time with your child if you make bedtime stories a part of your daily life.

Friendship
I want to take the time today to talk about friendship. You can find friendship in many ways, from individuals you grew up with; to new people you meet along the way in life. You never know where that friendship will take you, the doors it will open, or the possibilities it will create. Friendship is something vital to one’s life, we we’re all created with this need to be around people, to associate, to love. Sometimes you do not know always know your true potential, sometimes it’s revealed through friendship. The bonds that have been created, and sadly sometimes even bonds that have been broken. Friendship can help you to grow, experience things in a new way, new understandings. Friendship isn’t limited to people you’ve known your entire life. Nor is bound by age, race, and creed; friendship is founded upon diversity, or at least it should be.
It’s interesting; people often say “I have X-amount of friends on Twitter, FaceBook, and let’s not forget Instagram!” How many of these “friends” are ones that you would truly call “MY FRIENDS!” Chances are just a handful at best. I can honestly say I have such friends that I have met on Twitter, and have on FaceBook too. A friendship built on diversity, a friendship that has even crossed the Pond! A friendship that shares a common goal, interest and desire! A friendship that I am most grateful for! A friendship that believes in supporting, helping, and encouraging one another; we started off as individuals with one goal, promote children’s literacy. Through this shared goal we came together, united in our purpose, in one purpose. If even one child, just ONE CHILD picks a book and enjoys it, and wants to keep reading, then we’ve accomplished what it is that we set out to do.
This is a new friendship we have, but it is a friendship that I treasure and never wish it to part. I want to thank all of my new friends for everything that they have done, in the ways that they have encouraged me. I hope that I have been able to give them just a fraction of what they have given me.
Furthermore, I hope everyone reading this takes away the importance or friendship, and seeks it out in their own life. Never forsaking the importance of friendship; never allowing diversity of any kind, to interfere in friendship. Each friendship is special and unique in its own way; I know ours is, and I wouldn’t trade it in! We are small but mighty group of Kid Lit Authors made up of Peeps, a Sleuthing almost eight year old detective, a lovable wolf pup name Lobo, a few gnomes to liven up the bunch. Some adorable owls a chubby brown bear full of moxie; along with so many other kinds of magic, mystery and adventure. So thank you Karen, Jamie, Kristen, C.L, Rhonda, Geena, Jill, Sue, Mrs D and Steve, MY FRIENDS!
