HUGE NEWS! Rockin’ new series from Sourcebooks incoming!

So I’ve been saying that March was a huge month for me, and I wasn’t kidding. So here’s Scoop #1. You’ve got to wait a week or so for Scoop #2! ;)

So, without further ado, here’s what’s up.

Sourcebooks has picked up ANY WAY SHE WANTS IT, the first book in the Sons of Cain series! AND, they’ve also acquired the second and third books, too! A three-book deal, IN PRINT, for publication in 2015!

Pinch me. I still think I’m dreaming. :D

This is the first print book deal for me as Regina Cole. I’ve worked with Sourcebooks as Gina Lamm on my historical time travel, but for this pen name to climb to the print-o-sphere is super exciting to me. Bigger and better things keep happening, and I couldn’t be more grateful to my agent, Nicole Resciniti, Mary Altman at Sourcebooks, and most of all to you guys, the readers.

March has been BEYOND INSANE in the Regina Cole world. Well, all of 2014 so far has been pretty awesome, but things kicked into super high gear this month! There are so many things in the works that I just can’t tell you about yet. Yeah, I know. It sucks! But I promise the news is worth waiting for. ;)

 

BUT, I do have some awesome news that I can share with you! GET ON finally has a release date! You can get your greedy little hands on this ebook April 18th from Ellora’s Cave, and from other ebook sites within the following week. Sex Toys for the “Toy Virgin”

If you can remember that far back, I started a little fun thing called “Regina’s Sunday Toybox.” I maybe got two posts out of that? And then it fell flat. Because, well, while I love toys, I honestly don’t have that many. And unless I wanted to start expanding the collection, it just wasn’t going to happen.

But in my guest post today? There are a lot of fun ideas. I may just have to dust off the Sunday Toybox and get things buzzin’ again!!

Sex toys are one of those things that people discover at different points in their life. Some may try their first toy at 18, while others may not dive in until their 50′s. It’s all about comfort, exploration and knowing your body, which can happen to people at different times.

Fortunately, we have it pretty good these days. Buying a sex toy forty years ago was pretty taboo. You couldn’t just visit Adam and Eve and order from the privacy of your own computer. Instead you had to scour Sears and Roebuck catalogs and call it in and even then, the motors were loud, the toys were ugly and were far less effective than they are today.

If you’ve been thinking about trying a toy for the first time, there are two each man and woman should consider:

For Women:

1. Vibrator:

This is the most commonly purchased sex toy and the one most people think of when they hear “sex toy.” They’re fun, effective and come in so many sizes, colors, shapes, materials and price points that you’re bound to find something that fits your needs. For starting out, consider getting a standard bullet-like vibrator. This will be shaped like an egg and typically comes with a cord and remote control to make playtime easy. These are designed for clitoral stimulation. You can also opt for something that is a little more reminscent of the Rabbit. These toys will have a long vibrating shaft as well as an added clitoral stimulator. These will give you a little more versatility than the bullet.

2. Dildo:

This toy is essentially the same as the vibrator, but it doesn’t vibrate. They are typically phallic in nature and are used for insertion purposes. You can find theses in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials as well, however, I recommend going for a glass dildo. It feels the best, is easy to clean and can be heated up or cooled down for a different type of fun.

3. Cock Ring:

This toy is easy to use and is great for solo and partner play. Cock rings come in two styles–vibrating and non-vibrating. Both of which can make your erection harder and last longer when worn. Opt for the vibrating version if you want a little added sensation or are pairing it with a partner.

4. Fleshlight or Masturbatory Sleeve:

Both of these toys are very similar. The only difference is the shape. The fleshlight is fixed in a flashlight-like shape, while the masturbatory sleeve is a little more fluid and moves with your hand. In both cases, you insert your penis into the tube/sleeve and proceed to move it back and forth. Be sure to pair it with lube and properly clean it afterwards. Both can be a lot of fun and can make solo time far more explosive.

However, when you’re shopping for a sex toy, you can’t just default to a certain type and price point. You also have to look at what it’s made of. Unfortunately, sex toys are not regulated by the FDA, which means many are made out of some unsavory materials that could potentially cause harm to your body. Take the time to learn what your body safe materials are before purchasing. These include glass, medical grade silicone and metal, hard plastic, and elastomer. Unsafe body materials include anything that has phthalates in it (a chemical used to breakdown plastic), jelly, PVC, or non-medical grade silicone or metal.

Once you know your toy and material, it’s time to take it home and use it. In order to guarantee a long life, be sure to clean and store it properly.

Cleaning your toys after each use is imperative because it prevents bacteria from building up and the spread of disease, both of which can break down your toy. Start here to learn how each material needs to be cleaned differently.

When it comes to storing, be sure to remove your batteries (if any) to ensure your batteries won’t leak or explode in your toy. You will also want to keep them wrapped separately and stored in a cool, dark place. Sun, heat and contact with other toys can cause them to break down.

So, since those reminders also told me WHAT I was supposed to blog about, I’m sort of flying blind for this post.

Switching Gears – SPELLBINDING update

Hey there everyone who manages to stumble upon this wee space of web I call my own!

 

I’m Regina, and I’m proud to say I write sexy, fun, entertaining books. But if you’ve been here for a while, you already know that.

I’m posting today to tell you a little bit about my writing journey, and what it means for you guys, the readers.

I’m a firm believer in the reader. After all, that’s who I am–a reader who’s devoted to her book friends. And as someone who’s been a tireless author-stalker in the past, wondering when the next title in a series will land, I owe it to you guys to let you in on what’s up.

You may remember that my most recent release, CAUGHT IN CRIMSON, was billed as the first in a series called “Spellbinding.” Well, it is. Technically. The bad news is, Spellbinding won’t be continuing right away.

Here’s the thing. I want to write what you guys want to read. And I also want to enjoy what I write. In fact, I’d say it’s VITALLY important for the author to enjoy what she does, otherwise, it’s meaningless. If I were to write a story I didn’t 100% believe in, I’d sooner hang up my quill pen and head to the nearest fast food joint. I’d take just as much pride in flipping burgers as I would writing something I didn’t believe in. More, actually.

BOUND IN BLUE was billed to be my next title. But I wasn’t connecting with it the way I wanted to–no, the way I NEEDED to. I was struggling hard with it. I got words down on paper, but they didn’t feel right. They don’t feel right still.

So here’s what I’m doing… I’m shelving the series for the moment. Not forever, because I do love this world and these stories. But paranormal isn’t where my heart is right now. I keep thinking about INDELIBLY INTIMATE. How much I adored writing that book. How much I loved the tattoo world, artistic personalities, the freedom to be young and make rash choices. And I wanted that again. I wanted to write another story with that aesthetic.

And since my editor and I apparently share a brain, she suggested a particular theme that I’d be good at. I wrote up a quick idea, and long story short, the next thing you read from Regina Cole will be a hot, sexy, and suspenseful contemporary romance called GET ON. Full of motorcycles, pierced and tattooed characters, and lots of heat and heart.

 

I’m truly sorry if the delay in Spellbinding is causing anyone to be sad! I promise those stories will come, eventually. But I’m figuring out what books my readers like most, and what books I like to write the most. I want to write what makes all of us happy. And for now, GET ON is where my heart is.
