Finished Vampirates

I enjoyed Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean. I will definitely read the next book in the series. After the death of their father, twins Connor and Grace take off on their own to avoid living in an orphanage or with objectionable adoptive parents. They leave in a boat which is capsized in a storm. Connor is rescued by pirates and Grace is rescued by Vampirates. The vampirates, of course, were my favorite part of the book – the author came up with some great ideas for vampires who live at sea. The book is aimed at the younger end of the YA audience so it’s a light read; quick and entertaining.

Vampirates

I work in a library where hundreds of books pass through my hands in a day. Obviously I don’t have the time to examine each book, so my attention is generally drawn to either a cover or a title. I just began reading Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean by Justin Somper – a book that has piqued my curiosity every time I’ve come into contact with it. I mean, vampire pirates? How cool is that? I’m about to find out….
