A Gift for You!
Zalnic the Underlord
(To the tune of Frosty the Snowman)
Zalnic, the underlord, was an evil greedy soul,
with his eyes of flame,
and a throne of bones,
and a heart as black as coal.
Jack is a Shifter, who can enter other worlds.
He plays in a band,
has his future planned,
and his sights set on a girl.
There must have been a portal in that ancient burial mound,
Zalnic’s lackey broke into our world and pulled poor Emma down.
Back at the high school, Natalie tells what took her friend.
When Jack overhears,
he believes her fears,
and decides to make amends.
Down to the underworld, wearing brimstone round their necks,
dodging ghastly things,
even some with wings,
to reach the goal of their quest.
To save a soul, Jack has to go to Zalnic with a deal,
As he tries to make the best bargain,
his own fate he will seal.
Now Zalnic, the underlord, must release the stolen souls.
But he says to Jack,
“I know you’ll be back,”
to see what your future holds.

Soulshifter Release Party
To celebrate Soulshifter’s release, I’m throwing a party at the Southfield Public Library. It’s going to be a fun afternoon with face painting, giveaways, cupcakes, and of course copies of Soulshifter available for purchase and signing. Come out and join the celebration!

Join me at a NaNoWriMo information event at the Farmington Library
You may or may not know that Soulshifter was written during NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in the 30 days of the month of November. The Farmington Community Library sponsors write-ins during November for “NaNos” to get together and write. This year they are expanding their program to include sessions to let people know what NaNoWriMo is all about and they’ve invited me to share my NaNo experience!
I’ll be there on Tuesday, October 6th. The session runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you write or have ever considered writing, this is great motivator! Go here for more information.

Thunderstone Pseudo-cast
It’s fun to think of who you’d like to play the characters in your novels. These are my picks.
A blonder Molly C. Quinn would be great to play sweet and adventurous Jeni.
The first time I saw Tyler Blackburn on Pretty Little Liars, I knew he was my Ice. (With a little help from blue contacts for his full Ojibwe name, Shattered Ice.)
Graham Greene is perfect to play Nik – the medicine man and Ice’s mentor.
Chace Crawford could definitely pull-off Tyler, Jeni’s cocky cousin.
