Mind the digital gender gap: Empowering women online
Women face a variety of barriers to full and equal access, including cost, lack of digital literacy, lack of awareness of the Internet’s potential, and entrenched cultural and gender norms that limit them from forming independent connections outside their home or community. These obstacles are worth overcoming. In one international survey, 85 percent of women with Internet access said it provides “more freedom.”

Words have meanings, and labels have consequences. However, when we create a hierarchy of values, and attach a greater emotional significance to terms like “fascism” – this often leads to an automatic reflex, selective outrage and muddies the waters – rather than an honest look.

Today’s Crimea underwent a brainwashing when Russia censored all sources of news and information except Russian state TV and radio. The absurdity of their anti-fascist’ claims can be seen in a typical quote from a Simferapol resident (march 17) : ”I mean, I am all for the superiority of the white race, and all that stuff, but I don’t like fascists.”
