Third Book

Some of you, those that follow me on either facebook or twitter, know that I've completed the first draft of my third book entitled '31 Sleeps'.

Writing this one seemed so much harder than the first two, though I'm not sure if that was because I was writing from a male point of view, or if my time has been preoccupied elsewhere.

I am though, very pleased with the story I've produced and I'm hoping the two people I've entrusted as beta readers believe it to be too. That should mean less editing and only minor fixes before putting out to the public.

If this book reaches the same level of acclaim as my first two, then I shall be one very happy writer.

Encouragement

Having allowed the first two chapters of my current work in progress be presented to a writers group, of which I am a member, I was pleasantly rewarded today with some feedback.

1
I found this story to be really well written, interesting and amusing at times. Perhaps could add a little more about the main characters past, has he got skeletons rattling in the closet? Why has he got no family to turn to?
Want to read more!

2
Love his way of describing things, I.e. the puddle - a watery mirror - very poetic. Easy read, I got in to the story and can picture the whole scenario. I am very intrigued and want to read more!
A great job so far.
Great humour in there as well - belly laughed for real..

3.
Intrigued as to what happens next...
With Sam being a good friend, why would she ask him to pay for breakfast knowing that her friend is struggling? But in a way, I do like how she does it...
Is Sam receiving a percentage of the money he earns? If so how much?
Loving it so far, can't wait to read more!

4.
Maybe too many long words in descriptions.
Very "hooky" - makes me want to read on
Some descriptions are over-worded - throw in a few short sentences for effect to show his detachment from what he has to do..
Really like the dynamic between him and Sam, love how she is ballsy and bosses him about
Love story developing
Please keep writing this, I want to read more.

5.
Love how it flows.
Love the idea of 31 different characters. Want to know if he will continue after he is finished with the 31 different characters or continue.
Want to read more!

For me I have struggled to see myself as anything but someone who dabbles in putting the occassional story together, taking at face value the plaudits that have come from those that have read my work. Until now,

Today I have decided to take seriously what it is I enjoy doing, telling stories and have people read them. I aim to push myself and the boundaries of my writing so that I can give back to all those that have encouraged me and pushed me onward, the best of me in terms of being a writer.
