Pippa DaCosta's Blog - Posts Tagged "pippa-dacosta"

Hello & Welcome

So, here I am. I've been browsing Goodreads as a reader for a while; what a great place this is for book lovers.

I simply adore books. Everything from fantasy, to romance with a bit of sci-fi in between. I'll devour it quickly, flicking through the pages, caught up in the drama.

My kindle app helps me feed my book addiction whilst I'm out and about and I can often be seen in the coffee shop, head down, eyes scanning my iPhone whilst my mind is off with the fairies.

As for my work. I've been writing books since my early teens. It's a need, an insatiable desire to get the idea out there, commit it to the real and tactile world so that others might enjoy it too.

I'm currently working on a post-apocalyptic vampire series following Devon Hurst's journey in a world ravaged by vampires.

The short-story prequel 'Hunted' is scheduled for release in October. 'Hunted' is a teaser of what's to come, a little slice of the pie to whet your appetite.

The full-length novel 'Within' is due for release in January 2014 - sooner if all goes well.

I look forward to sharing Devon's journey with you. Best buckle up, it's going to be a rollercoaster ride.

Pippa.

New Year - New Challenges

I'm one of those frustrating people that loves January. While others bemoan the fact Christmas is over and the bills are piling up, I see January as the diving board suspended over a whole new year of opportunities and challenges. There will be ups and downs, there will be success and failure, but that's life and it's part of the journey.
I'm neck deep in editing three future books, I'm also a mother of two pre-schoolers, a wife and business owner. The days are never dull, that's for sure.
Time is an issue and distractions can be a killer but I've never been one to give in.
So, 2014, do your worst, I'm ready for you.

Beyond The Veil (The Veil Series, #1) by Pippa DaCosta

When your ex is the Prince of Greed, you’d better be ready to raise hell…

Charlie Henderson is living a lie. Her given name is Muse and her attempt at a normal life is about to go up in smoke.

When a half-demon assassin walks into her life, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake, Muse must return to the one man she hoped never to see again and ask for help. Akil, The Prince of Greed, isn’t known for his charity. The price is high and the cost could tear her apart.

All signs point to her immortal brother as the source of the assassin’s contract, but when the assassin twice saves her from surprise demon attacks, and claims Akil hired him to kill her, Muse must choose which lies to believe. Should she trust the assassin? Or her guardian, Akil? The assassin insists he has proof of Akil’s lies, but Muse fears the truth. She thinks she is a worthless half-blood, believes Akil cares for her, assumes the assassin is her enemy: she’s wrong, and is about to discover the truth really can set her free.

Trapped between the malevolent intentions of a Prince of Hell, an assassin with ulterior motives, and her bloodthirsty demon-kin, Muse must embrace the lure of chaos at her core; the demon inside her, if she has any hope of surviving.

Interview With Akil

When I conjured up Akil (The Veil Series), I knew he had potential, but I didn't realise the depth of emotion he would inspire in readers. He's the bad guy everyone loves to hate.

As the series progresses, we'll be seeing more of Akil. You can't kill an immortal, right? So he'll be back, and he has a few surprises hidden up the sleeves of his sharp suit, and a glint of infinite knowledge in his eyes.

With that in mind, I've just posted an interview with Akil on my website. Here's a snippet:

~~

His smile twitches. “You don’t know me at all. I don’t pine over the past. Immortals who lose themselves in the past are hollow wraiths. I stare ahead, I see what is to come, and I plan accordingly. The devil is in the details.”

“What are your plans exactly?”

I sit very still and watch him with the same intensity he affords me. Beneath that sharp suit and the overbearing masculinity of him, an ageless demon waits. He is a trap. What you see, is not what you get. The truth is there, behind his eyes. People, our lives, our loves, mean little to him; we’re just dust in the wind.

“I am the Prince of Greed,” he says. “The clue is in the name.”

~~

You can read the full interview here: http://pippadacosta.wix.com/beyond-th...

And if you haven't met Akil; why not take a peek?

Please do leave a comment on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/theveilseries

Do you think Akil is as bad as he makes out? What do you think might happen in book 2? What do you want to happen? ;)

Devil May Care #2 The Veil Series ~ OUT NOW

Devil May Care, the second book in The Veil Series, is out now. If you're familiar with the first book, you know we left Muse in a prison cell, without her demon, vowing to take revenge on those who've hurt her.

The second book is darker - no doubt about it - and so is Muse, but not all is lost. She has hope.

Take a look. Devil May Care (The Veil Series, #2) by Pippa DaCosta

**COVER REVEAL**

**COVER REVEAL** With huge thanks to the extremely talented artist Celairen, I have the pleasure of revealing the full cover for #4 The Veil Series, 'Drowning In The Dark' - due out early next year.

As you may or may not know, the book covers for The Veil Series represent actual events in the books (most book covers don't do this) so do take a long, hard look, and let me know your thoughts.

Wings Of Hope Available for Preorder at .99c

The much anticipated prequel to The Veil Series is now available for preorder at just .99c (The release date has been moved forward to Oct 11th 2014).

"I am his muse. But not for long..."

When Mammon, the Prince of Greed, 'acquires' a half-blood slave known as 'Muse' for three nights, and bespells her with tales of a world where people live like kings and queens among towers of steel and glass, the seed of hope takes root in Muse's soul. But hope, for a half-human half-demon creature like her, is a dangerous thing. Especially when that tentative hope springs from the honeyed words of a Prince of Hell. What is Mammon's price for freedom?

Meanwhile Da'mean, her ruthless owner, would rather see her dead, than free. She belongs to him. She is his muse. And no beast will take her from him.

The netherworld is harsh and violent. Muse's demon kin are merciless, blood-hungry beasts, but little do they know, Muse has something far more dangerous coiled inside her, desperate for a taste of freedom.

Her humanity.

This novella can be read as a stand-alone book, or at any time before/during/after the other books in The Veil Series.

'Darkest Before Dawn' Out 20th Oct 2014

“It’s too late to save myself, but I’ll save her, even if it kills me.”

When Akil leaves a nine year old half-blood girl on Muse’s doorstep, it’s not long before the demons come hunting, but this time Muse isn’t the target. The Institute, Muse’s immortal brother, and the Princes of Hell, all want a piece of the little half-blood. What’s so special about Dawn, and why has Akil conveniently disappeared just as Muse needs answers?

To save the half-blood girl, Muse must first save herself, but is it already too late? Muse’s humanity is failing. Her demon hungers. The darkness coiled around her heart lures her toward madness. And all that stands between Muse and her demon’s lust for destruction, is the hope that some half-bloods do get happy endings.

The veil weakens. Titles will fall. A new Prince rises. And if Muse can’t stop them, the demons will have their day.
