Behind The Book With Bethany-Kris
A big welcome back to Bethany-Kris here on Behind The Book! Today, she stopped in to share the inspiration behind her newest release A Love Unfinished!
A huge thank you to Donina for sharing her blog with me today and allowing me to give you a little insight behind my newest release, A Love Unfinished.
One of my most favorite places in the world is Jasper, Alberta. This Canadian town is situated pretty much in the middle of the Rockies. Everywhere you look it can take your breath away with the nature, the beauty, and the serenity. A few years ago, not long after I graduated high school, I spent a great deal of my time in Alberta, and some of it, luckily, was spent in or near Jasper. I am so happy that I am able to share a bit of my memories of the beauty this place inspires with just its scenery alone.
When I sat down to write A Love Unfinished, I knew these dragons and their massive clans couldn’t simply live out in the open. Sure, some do, but they’re very small and practically obsolete in the real world. My main characters’ clan is far too large and instinct drives them into secrecy because of their past. A past where once living in the open was the one thing that nearly caused their entire demise.
They would need a place where it was big enough, and secluded enough, for them to hunt, fly, live, raise their children in peace, and feel safe in the midst of it all without drawing attention to their odd customs and familial-like unit.
The first place I thought of when I went in search of just that right locale able to hide a clan of forty to fifty people while still giving them the ability to be a part of society? Jasper. Or at least centered on it.
While the story begins in New York, a place I have to visit someday, it ends in one that I already have. And I’m pretty happy to get to put my memories of the mountains to paper in A Love Unfinished.
Now, the book that this lovely locale was given a home in:

Over two decades ago, an attack on The Clan of Cobalt left families of dragons in ruins; now, with the clans able to start rebuilding their lives, history is beginning to rewrite, one dragon and one mate at a time…
Dani Heartview spent a year running from the past she can’t forget and it’s about to catch up in the form of Holden Levy. When he suddenly disappeared, she was devastated, but now he’s back. Even if she can’t deny their connection, the man who returned is vastly different from the one who left.
With Holden’s secrets uncovered, the Alpha dragon inside the man is demanding for its mate to be claimed, but there’s danger lurking close by. Still, his abandonment is a monster she can’t shake. Can she forgive to restart their life, and if she does, can Dani handle exactly what it means to be a dragon’s mate?

Excerpt:
“Get away from me,” I hissed. “You have no right to be here.”
Emotion broke through on his handsome features, marring it with sadness as my eyes blurred with unshed tears. “Please, Dani…”
“Stop saying my name.” My voice was rising to an unhealthy octave. My heart was pounding at a too fast pace. Why would he be here? He had to have known I wouldn’t want him here. “Stop sharing my fucking air. For God sakes, get out of my space, Holden.”
“Ouch, man.”
Holden didn’t even glance back at his friend. “Shut up, Duran.” There was a timber in his tone, something else I didn’t recognize from the man standing before me. I felt wetness drip down my cheeks. “Oh, Dani, please don’t cry…I didn’t come here to make you cry, baby.”
Baby? “Who in the hel—”
“Dani!” Jade was out of the kitchen and rushing over to my side. She barely noted the men or my heartbroken expression. That, or she mistook it for the pain of the coffee spill. “Did you get burned?”
“I’m fine.” Those words were the biggest lie I’d ever spoken.
“She’s not,” Holden replied quietly. “Could you get a cool cloth and the first aid kit, if you have one?”
“I’m fine,” I repeated. “Jade, could you handle these guys, please?”
“Dani, wait.”
“Holden, I swear to God if you don’t walk out of this place right now and never look back, I will…” I couldn’t finish my sentence because there wasn’t anything I didn’t already feel for him. Hate. Love. Desire. Disgust. I felt all of that. With him being so close, it only served to make me more confused. Defeated, air rushed from my lungs, in a harsh exhale. “Leave, right now.”
Jade appeared lost. “Um…okay, I’m going to grab the first aid. You’re going to stay here and sit down.”
Duran smiled at Jade when no one responded. “Thanks, sweetheart.”
Holden hadn’t taken his eyes off me. When he moved forward, I backed up. “Don’t come any closer. I don’t want you near me.”
Agony pulled Holden’s full lips into a frown. “Let me explain.”
“I told you this wouldn’t be the best place to approach her,” Duran said. “We should have waited.”
“We don’t have that kind of time.”
“Why haven’t you left?” I asked, feeling a seething rage beginning to take over my initial shock and pain. “Have I not made it clear enough yet that you’re not welcomed?”
“You made it clear.” Holden’s gaze flickered up to the ceiling, a tick showing in his strong jaw. “But it’s not that simple. One minute, Dani. That’s all I’m asking for. After all we were, don’t you owe me that?”
“Owe you?” My hands trembled. The sudden burst of fury and courage that swept over me was all consuming. I stepped up to him and slammed my fist into his chest. Holden barely flinched and the action hurt me a great deal more than it must have him, but emotional pain registered in his eyes. “I owe you. Are you fucking insane? You left me, Holden. Left me in Tennessee with nothing. Not a goddamned explanation, not a goodbye…nothing!”
I hit him in the chest again, disbelief coursing through me. “How could you ever say that I owe you after everything you did to me? I waited for months. I called your phone every day. I texted, emailed, and left messages until your inbox was full. You could have been dead if not for that stupid note. I defended you when it was clear you didn’t want me anymore … Once, Holden. All you had to do was answer me back just once! You up and walked away from me, from our home, and our life without a single care in the world. And you have the audacity to say that I owe you anything?”
“Do not…” he growled, face suddenly mere inches from mine, “…say that I just walked away from you, Dani. I never would have walked away from you like that had I been given the choice. Ever.”
His response only served to fuel my rage. “Well, excuse me for living. What would you call me waking up to an empty house, with a note on the counter, and no you to be seen again, exactly?”
Anger clouded his face. “What did that note say, Dani?”
“Holden, calm down.” Duran was up off the bench, a hand on his friend’s shuddering arm. Rippling tension flowed between the men, but my former lover and fiancé didn’t register the one person attempting to help the situation. No, his focus was solely on me. “Come on, we’ll do this another time.”
“You won’t do it ever again,” I spat hatefully.
“Yes, I will. I have to. I can’t be me without you.” That confession struck me like a knife in the chest, the blade twisting painfully. Holden breathed deeply, the fight suddenly gone from his body as quickly as it came. “I will always come back for you. I lo—”
“No, you don’t. You never did. If you had, this…” I said with a wave at us, “…wouldn’t have happened.”

Runaway Groom

The groom is back in town.
Abigail lost her best friend years ago when he ditched her at the altar like a loaf of stale bread. Now he’s back and determined to do whatever he has to—even lie, apparently—to get under her skin. Although he makes her hormones rev to life in a way that no one has since he left, she is equally determined not to fall for his boy-next-door charm.
His bride-to-be is somewhat reluctant.
Braxton Dean was too young and stupid to know better when he walked away. Years of trying to fill the Abby-shaped hole in his heart have left him empty, and now he’s going to win back his girl—or get over her. But first he needs answers. Particularly why she never responded to any of his letters.
It might take a whole town to make this wedding happen.
With the help of their friends, the two battle it out. The army? An entire town of busybodies. The prize? Happily ever after.
Warning: Contains indignant old ladies, steamy sex (but not with indignant old ladies), seduction cake, and condom bouquets. Yes, we went there.

July 7, 2005
Abby,
I’m sitting in a diner in the desert. The sun peeking over the mountain lights up everything in these reds so bright they almost hurt the eyes. You’ve never felt a hot like this, all dry, nothing like the days that we went swimming over at Watkin’s pond…
I don’t really know why I’m writing you. I don’t have answers and right now you probably want them. I just know I couldn’t do it.
I miss you though.
Love, B
Knuckles white, Abigail put her beat-up Ford Focus in Park, and glanced at her best friend. “I can’t do this.”
“Pussy.” Applying a coat of lipstick to her lush red lips in the mirror, Carnie shot her a glance. “You can do this. It isn’t like you’re about to face a firing squad. It’s just a bonfire.”
Shoving her hand through her short, pixie-cut brown hair, Abigail blew out a frustrated breath. “I would rather face a firing squad. If you ditch me to go running off with the new boyfriend…”
Carnie gave her a dirty look, tucking her red hair behind her shoulder. “I would never do that. I know how bent out of shape you get every time we go anywhere that Braxton might be. Really, though, it will be fine. The crap happened a thousand years ago. You’re adults now.”
Abigail didn’t feel like an adult. She felt like the rejected teenager even thinking of Braxton Dean.
It didn’t help that he’d become sexier with age. Heartbreakingly handsome, Braxton made her thighs clench with just a glance. She needed to remember the pain and humiliation rather than how it felt to be pushed into a bed by him. Better to remember the chest-constricting, blinding terror when he’d ditched her and vanished rather than remember his face a mask of unleashed passion and his green eyes wild with need. The former would keep her knees together.
The terror of that time—it wasn’t something she shared with anyone, not even Carnie.
Remembering gave her the strength she needed to peel her fingers from the wheel. “You’re right, of course. I can do this. No big deal. We’re both more mature now. He probably won’t even say a word to me.” The last came out a bit hopeful, even to her own ears.
“Yeah, at his birthday bonfire, he isn’t going to say a word to the woman he dated for years and ditched at the altar like a loaf of stale bread. Really, Abs, you need to get pissed off rather than feeling pissed on. You’re totally the injured party here.”
“He had his reasons. I’m sure he did.” Why was she defending his dumb ass?
“What reason could be good enough for that grand act of douchebaggery?” Carnie raised one well-plucked brow at her. “Besides, these are our friends. You need to remember why we’re here. He took off. He stayed gone. This is our town. You’re going to walk in there and show him what he is missing. Rub in his face what he can’t have.”
“I don’t know. He really wasn’t a jerk…not most of the time.”
“Let’s just go find Mike and the crew, and have a good time. All of our friends from high school are here and it’ll be good to catch up with them.”
Nodding, stomach still a bit of a knot, Abigail opened her door and stepped out into the muggy Ohio night. Stars hung like tiny lanterns above the recently mowed field and the sound of laughter carried on the breeze. The bonfire, a huge conflagration, was surrounded by what looked like hundreds of folding chairs, coolers and other party miscellany that beckoned Abigail onwards. Who knew? Maybe she would meet someone new and end up being really happy she wasted the extra five minutes to make sure everything was shaved and neat?
Carnie strode with her usual impulsive bravery into the melee. Abigail stuffed her hands in her jeans and resisted casting her head down to avoid any stares that might be coming her way. Instead she held her head high, but refused to meet anyone’s eyes. In small-town Ohio, everyone knew she hadn’t seen Braxton since that fateful day when he left her standing, flowers in hand, waiting for a runaway groom. Everyone knew that instead of marrying her, Braxton—golden boy and football hero—ran off to parts unknown, and she’d neither heard from him nor caught a glimpse of him when he’d come to town until a few weeks ago. He only returned home now to help his father with his tool store after his father’s stroke made it hard for the old man to get around like he used to.
Everyone watched to see how she’d handle it.
She wouldn’t give them a show to chew over for the next decade. She’d act like it was ancient history, like she hadn’t spent years wondering how a man could go from saying he loves her to leaving her to stand alone against a whole swarm of gossips with nothing better to do than tear her to shreds for being moronic enough to think he would stay.
She concentrated so hard on what she wouldn’t do, she slammed to an abrupt halt against a firm chest. His firm chest. Braxton. He smelled the same, damn him.
Even over the scent of wood burning, the ripeness of summer and the bitter tang of someone’s spilled beer, she inhaled his soap, familiar cologne and under it all, simply Braxton.
Her stomach clenched. Part of her wanted to smack him and demand answers. Part of her wanted to run away. Part of her wanted to pull his face down and kiss him because she’d missed him so much.
Instead she hid behind an armor of polite civility and gave a short, sharp nod. “Braxton.”
“Abby.” The word came out almost a plea. His eyes held a sad look she quickly identified. He pitied her.
Double damn him. “Happy birthday.”
And even though she promised herself she wasn’t going to give everyone a show, promised herself she wouldn’t feed the rumor mills...
The sound of her slap rang out across the field. Even in the flickering light from the bonfire, her handprint marked his strong jaw and she couldn’t ignore the pleasure it gave her. Silence seemed to spread across the night as he touched his cheek. Her mouth hung open, shock rippling through her as his gaze locked on hers.
“I deserved that.” The timbre of his voice seemed to stroke across her skin, stirring up a potent cocktail of emotions—lust, love, fury and pain. The worst part was disgust at herself for feeling anything.
“You deserve worse.”
Instead of arguing with her, which almost would have made her feel better, like it meant something to him, he simply nodded. “Wanna go somewhere to talk?”
About the Author
Virginia Nelson believed them when they said, “Write what you know.” Small town girl writing small town romance, her characters are as full of flaws, misunderstandings, and flat out mistakes as Virginia herself. When she’s is not writing or plotting to take over the world, she likes to hang out with the greatest kids in history, play in the mud, drive far too fast, and scream at inanimate objects. Virginia likes knights in rusted and dinged up armor, heroes that snarl instead of croon, and heroines who can’t remember to say the right thing even with an author writing their dialogue. Her books are full of snark, sex, and random acts of ineptitude—not always in that order.

Virginia likes knights in rusted and dinged up armor, heroes that snarl instead of croon, and heroines who can’t remember to say the right thing even with an author writing their dialogue. Her books are full of snark, sex, and random acts of ineptitude—not always in that order.

Behind The Book with Doris O'Connor
Happy Monday everyone! I want to give a big welcome to Doris O'Connor. She stopped in today to share with us the inspiration behind her newest release The Bear Project!
Thanks so much for having me here today.
Inspiration is a funny thing, don't you think? At least it is when you have a muse as unpredictable as mine seems to be.
A while back I wrote a flash, involving a wolf cub sat in a mountain of clothes. The story went that this cub was the result of a one night stand the heroine had had. At the time she had no idea that the sexy guy she slept with was a shifter, until her adorable little girl shifted into a wolf.
*grins*
When I wrote that, I had it in the back of mind that this premise would make for a good story.
Then came a submission call for an Alpha Shifter anthology, and that idea reared its head again.
Only this time round the shifter was a bear. Cole Jackson is the original bad boy, who picks Emmi up in a bar one night on the full moon and….
Bang, my muse goes off on a tangent. I quickly realized that there was far too much story to tell and The Bear Project was born. The more Cole and Emmi told me, the more involved this story became and it morphed into a sequel to The Orgasm Project.
Those of you who've read it, will find those characters make a re-appearance as I delve deeper into their world and the mysteries surrounding their blood lines and what it means to be a shifter, hidden from the human world.
I have another story planned, which will be The Mating Project.
And as for Cole and Emmi… well, you'll have to read the book to find out, but these two are hot, when they get together. Sparks fly, rules get broken, and those bloodlines may never be the same again.
Blurb:
When Animal conservationist Emmi Layne meets bad boy Cole Jackson there is no denying the instant lust between them. She has a thing for bears, after all. However, you cannot build a relationship on awesome sex alone, especially when you live on different continents, and have nothing in common.
Everything changes, when Emmi discovers that their night of passion has left her with more than erotic memories. She has no means of contacting him, even if she wanted to, but she hasn't counted on this bear shifter's determination.
Cole is not what he seems, and he will stop at nothing to claim what's his—even if that means breaking all the rules.
Can he trust the mating bond to deliver, or will it spell the end of an ancient blood line?
With the odds stacked against them, can this unlikely duo find happiness together?

A moan slipped out from Emmi, and his balls drew tight in anticipation, as she, too, lost what cover his old shirt afforded her. She licked her lips, her gaze riveted on his erection, and he grinned. A primitive sense of ownership grabbed him, and he bent down, and grabbing her ankles, pulled her down the bed until her ass was half hanging off it and he could step right between her legs.
This position opened her cunt for his inspection, and her scent grew in potency as her juices coated her pussy lips. Cole stroked himself harder in response to that sight, and she whimpered. That tiny sound pitched his need to claim her to new heights, but he wanted her begging for his cock and so wet and ready that she couldn't stand it anymore.
A vision of keeping her like this, naked and at his mercy, filled his vision. Her curves would look so beautiful bound by Shibari rope, as she begged him for her orgasm.
His dick jumped at the thought, and he used the natural lubrication of his pre-cum to aid the ever faster up and downward glide of his hand.
"Cole, let me…"
Emmi looked up at him, her eyes so dark with her own need it took his breath away.
"No, I want to watch you come for me." A fierce blush spread all over her skin at his husky words, and she bit her lips hard enough to draw blood. The metallic smell filled his nostrils, and his bear roared. "Use your fingers to spread yourself wider, so that I can see what you're doing. Tell me what it feels like, and how much you want my cock, sugar."
Emmi shivered and closed her eyes, but her hands did slowly slide down to the apex of her thighs.
"Use your words, baby. I want to hear you."
"Oh God." Her groan matched his when she spread her labia wide and circled her clit with one finger. The little nubbin swelled under her ministrations as all the blood rushed to the surface.
"That's my girl. Fill your hole with your fingers, and imagine it's my cock, sugar."
Emmi complied, and the little needy sounds she made at the back of her throat were pure music to his ears.
"Words, Emmi, use them."
"I … I can't. I just … I want to come so badly. My fingers are not enough. I'm gripping them imagining they're your cock filling me, thrusting in. I want you so badly."
He growled, and she pumped her fingers faster until the wet sounds of her greedy pussy filled the room. The trembles started as her orgasm took hold, and Cole grabbed her thighs and took over.
Emmi screamed when his tongue replaced her fingers, and her essence flowed freely into his waiting mouth. His bear grunted his approval, and Cole blew against her slit and then bit down on her clit. The action sent Emmi over the edge, and he pushed two of his fingers into her clenching pussy hole. She rode those fingers as her whole body bowed off the bed and tightened before she slumped back down, moaning and writhing under his fingers and tongue.
Cole kept up his assault until the last tremors stopped and then crawled up her limp and sweat slicked body to kiss her.
"You're not playing fair." She mumbled the words and ran her hands over his chest, up to his shoulders and then down his back until she could reach his ass. With his body cocooned between her thighs, his cock slid up and down her wet slit and he indulged himself by thrusting into her just once.
Her cunt closed around him like a velvet fist, and Emmi pushed her feet into his calves and lifted up to meet his thrust. Their gazes locked when he pulled out and then pushed into her wet heat again.
"Oh, God, Cole, you're driving me insane."
His little human bucked against him, and her vaginal muscles clenched and released around his dick in an effort to hurry him along. It took all of Cole's willpower and self-control to not simply give her what she wanted, but he withdrew again until just the tip of his dick remained inside her entrance.
Emmi shook and groaned and pleaded, and he ground his teeth to stop himself form coming.
"No, we'll do this my way. Stop trying to hurry me, sugar, or I'll tie you to this bed and leave you hanging."
Her sharp intake of breath made him smile, and he paused half in half out of her sweet cunt, until he could nudge her sweet spot with short, shallow thrusts that had her luscious body climbing again. He could see it in the way her eyes clouded over, and her breathing quickened. Her fingernails scored his skin hard enough to draw blood, and Cole welcomed the slight pain, as he pushed her over that edge again.
"That's my girl. Come for me again. Beautiful."
He withdrew and flipped her over, so that she was bent over the side off the bed. With her knees on the floor, and her legs spread wide, her ass was there for him to play with, and Cole smacked one cheek and then pushed his fingers back into her vagina.
A rush of air escaped Emmi's lungs, and she groaned into the bed covers and lifted her ass up to give him better access.
Cole rubbed his stubble along her shoulder blades and kissed her spine. A shudder went through her body, and she sighed his name when he withdrew.
"What, baby? Do you want me to spank you again?"
He delivered another open handed swat to her other cheek with enough force to leave a bright mark on her pale flesh as the blood rushed to the surface. His possessive bear urged him to do it again, to mark her body with his hands and claws and teeth, but the man needed to be sure she was on board with this.
"Yes, God, yes, please, Cole, anything. That feels so fucking good."

Author Bio:
Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris... at least that's what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.
There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Her characters tend to be pretty insistent to get their stories told, and you will find Doris burning the midnight oil on a regular basis. Only time to get any peace and quiet and besides, sleep is for wimps.
She likes to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

Behind The Book with Eileen Griffin
Wow! I can't believe it's the Monday before Christmas! Only two more days before the holiday. If you're like most everyone out there, the closer it gets the more hectic and stressful your days become. Need a little down time and something to do to take you away from the holiday madness? Try picking up a book. It always works for me!! :-) If you need a suggestion on what to read, I have a great one for you to check out. Eileen Griffin is here today to share her inspiration behind her newest ROTG release Dinner For Two. A big thank you to Donina for hosting me on her blog today J
One of my favorite things to do is travel. Especially to Europe. Many people envision traveling in luxurious style while they visit a foreign place. For me? I love to backpack from place to place, hopping on and off trains whenever a place looks interesting or inviting. One of my favorite places to backpack across is Italy. The people there have always been friendly; the sites are beyond breath-taking; and the food is out-of-this-world delicious. My favorite city in Italy is Florence. The old-world feel; the breath-taking architecture; the ease of getting around… I’ve been several times and I’d still go back tomorrow if offered the chance. I think my love of all things Italian had a major influence on my decision to make Tony, the male MC and head chef Italian and make the setting an Italian restaurant when I first began writing Dinner For Two. Good food can make an evening enjoyable, and Tony and Sonia are brought together through their combined efforts to make the dish they create extra special. I hope to go back to Italy again someday, but until then writing Dinner For Two allowed me to wander back through my memories of many wonderful hours spent sight-seeing and enjoying the fabulous food there J

Dinner For Two
by: Eileen Griffin
Genre: Erotic Romance
Length: Romance On The Go – Short Story
Published: December 17, 2013
Publisher: Evernight Publishing
BLURB:
Sonia Davenport has dreams of coordinating and planning special events. When she’s given the opportunity to plan a dinner for her boss and his shareholders, she jumps at the chance to make everything perfect. Helping her plan the special night is the head chef of the restaurant, Tony Mancinni, who is not only charming but goes out of his way to make Sonia feel special during the entire planning process.
The dinner party almost turns disastrous when an employee mixes up the orders and sets out the wrong food. In a mad rush to save the dinner, Sonia and Tony realize their attraction to each other when things heat up in the kitchen. However, Tony has to convince Sonia that he wants more than just an extra set of hands in his restaurant – he wants her to stay the night so he can convince her to stay for good.
EXCERPT:
Tony gently rubbed his finger along her bottom lip. "I had hoped everything would be perfect tonight because I wanted to impress you. When you came in for brunch that first Sunday and laid out your plans, not only were you beautiful, but you had a detailed description of what you wanted. On the catering side of things, you have no idea how attractive that is. Then, when you came in for your tasting, I didn't think I was going to make it through the afternoon without asking you out. But I have a strict rule: Don't date the clients until after the function is over. So I waited. Do you have any idea how hard it was to wait?"
Sonia shook her head slightly, then let her lips part. Instead of replying to him, she slid her tongue out to meet his finger, gently caressing the tip. He hissed in a breath, his eyes fixated on her tongue and lips. Feeling emboldened by his words, she leaned closer and drew his finger deeper inside her mouth, wrapping her lips around it as she laved it with her tongue.
"Sonia," he whispered. "You're so beautiful. But I didn't ask you up here for this."
She leaned back, his finger sliding out of her mouth. All the nerves and doubts she'd felt earlier were replaced by a heat that was coursing through her. She'd felt it all night in the kitchen with him and it was stronger now that she knew he wanted her as badly as she wanted him.
"I'm glad you asked me up here, Tony. But if we're being honest with each other, I think dinner can wait. You see, I've lost my appetite. For food, that is."

Behind The Book with S.J. Maylee
It's Monday and that means it's time for another installment of Behind The Book! Woot! Today, S.J. Maylee stops in to share the inspiration behind her newest ROTG release Untangle Me! Plus, she's giving away a $15 Amazon gift card. Check out the Rafflecopter at the end of the post!
Welcome S.J.!! Thank you for having me today, Donina. My second release is a Romance on the Go which means it’s a short story, just 43 pages actually. It’s a good length for this busy time of year. You can’t go wrong with any of Evernight Publishing’s ROTGs. They make great presents for your busy reader friends too. J
The inspiration for this short story came to me eons ago. I’m a project manager and one year I had to plan a large luncheon for the opening of an imaging center. I know, snoozeville. While planning the event, my imagination had fun making it more interesting. Of course, the event planner had to fall in love, but with who? It took me some time to answer that question and the rest fell into place.
The event allowed my characters to get enough of a taste that they knew they wanted more, but not enough to give them their happy ending. You’ll need to read UNTANGLE ME to see how I spin their story together. In the excerpt below, you’ll see a bit of what happens when Ivy finally finds Seth at the club and their first date can begin.
Untangle Me
by: S.J. Maylee
Genre: Erotic Romance with D/s
Length: Novelette
Published: December 5, 2013
Publisher: Evernight Publishing
UNTANGLE ME BLURB:
Ivy’s revenge on the people behind her family’s downward spiral is simple and it’s working. There’s no need to long for help from the wealthy business owners who turned their backs on her father. Ivy may be worn out, but she’s finding herself again after joining the local BDSM club.
Seth has it all. He has homes around the world and the little red speedster he dreamed of as a little boy, but none of the things he can buy satisfy him, not the socialites hanging on his arm or the submissives falling at his feet. Then, he hires Ivy to plan his next event.
Seth and Ivy enjoy each other’s company in and out of the planning stages for Seth’s charity event. Their playful bets lead them to a first date. When their secret kinks are revealed, the pair fall deep, but it’s not meant to last. Past hurts come back to haunt Ivy. Now, it’s time for Seth to use all he’s learned, regardless if he can win back the girl.

UNTANGLE ME EXCERPT:
Where was Seth?
Once in the center of the dance floor she turned in a circle, looking every direction.
There.
From the center seat at the bar, Seth’s direct stare held her captive. A new song excited the crowd and cheers surrounded them, but neither of them paid it any attention.
His jacket and tie were gone, giving her a closer look at his all-male body. The top button on his white shirt was undone. She wanted to undo the rest and get a glimpse at what lay underneath. Round shoulders tapered to his waist. She bit her lip as she imagined his length.
He made no move to come to her, his elbow still rested on the bar. He was a man waiting for the world to come to him.
Not the world. Her.
The comfortable confidence and the heat shining in his eyes turned her on. She swayed her hips to the hypnotic beat. Her hands felt their way up her thighs, around her hips, and an inch past her waist, he got up and walked towards her.
In no time, his feet stepped in between hers and together they rocked to the music. The drums and base from the band pushed a rhythm into her body, driving her desire. Their fingers interlaced. She snuggled closer and breathed in his clean musky scent.
She wanted to touch him, but he kept a hold on her hands. He pushed them both behind her, causing her back to arch and her breasts to press deliciously into his hard body. Heat rolled through her. She let her head fall back, exposing her neck.
His lips brushed across her collarbone. They continued to rock back and forth, their hips swaying and rubbing together. He took her wrists in one hand and his other stroked down her neck, over her shoulder, caressed the side of her breast, and around her waist to land on her butt. He squeezed her ass and pressed her into the hard ridge of his cock. She lowered her chin and moaned as she took in his expression filled with raw desire. A slow devilish smile lit his features and sent a tremble through her.
The song ended and another began while they continued their dance. He let go of her hands and she wrapped them around his neck. Both of his hands molded her ass. She nuzzled his neck, taking a nibble and a few kisses as she breathed him in. She wanted more.
Lots more.
She made her way closer to his mouth. Before she stole a kiss, she looked into his eyes. His brown eyes had darkened to the color of night, matching his hair. She sucked on her lower lip.
“You know what you’re doing, right?” he asked.
“I know I want you.”
“The Masters work the back rooms on club nights. But we can stay on the dance floor all night, if you want.”
“You’re talking about the one on one rooms?” She sucked in a breath.
“I don’t think this crowd is prepared to see what I want to do to you.”
“Can we go back there? I want to go back there.” She looked directly into his eyes.

In the excerpt below, you’ll see a bit of what happens when Ivy finally finds Seth at the club and their first date can begin.

by: S.J.

Behind The Book with Carlene Love Flores
A big Behind The Book Welcome to Carlene Love Flores! Today, she stops in to share with us the motivation behind writing her newest release Sin's Haven.
Hello there, nice hanging with you today. Benny says “Wassup?” I’m pretty stoked to be sharing this latest story and I think it’s all due to Benny. He’d tell you he’s the glorified errand boy for the band Sin Pointe for which the series is named. But I’ll tell you the truth—he’s their genius and adorable webmaster, a gentle giant, and downright hilarious when he gets going. I’ve gotten so many really cool comments from the first two books about Benny and so I’m really happy the boys in the band stepped aside so that the computer whiz behind the scenes could have his moment to shine. For any of you out there who love stalking visiting your favorite bands’ websites (like me!), you know how important the webmaster is in that experience. Personally, I think they’re Rock Stars! Enjoy Benny’s story!
~Editor’s Pick!
Sin’s Haven (A Sin Pointe Novella, Book 3) Blurb:
When Sin Pointe webmaster, Benjamin Wright, is publicly humiliated on his birthday, he knows he’s never gonna be able to show his face around the guys again. But an angelic hostess who lets him sleep it off at the club seems surprisingly eager to help him out. Is his luck changing or does she just feel sorry for him?
Hazel Temple, bagel mistress by day and club hostess by night, feels horrible for inadvertently playing a part in Ben’s embarrassment and vows to make it up to him—by telling him they had a sizzling hot one night stand. Still recovering from losing her fiancé to suicide, she worries about Ben when he discovers her lie. Is she bound to hurt the men she cares about?
A Sin Pointe camping trip provides Hazel her chance to get Ben’s groove back.
Will her webmaster be the one to rock her world?
Sin’s Haven Excerpt:
Finally, after finding out he seemed to be the only person there, he tossed the last paper towel he’d used to clean up his mess and plopped down on the toilet seat where he sat now. What he wasn’t prepared for was the note he found tucked into his shirt pocket. He patted it and pulled it out carefully.
“Holy crap. No way.”
He read it again.
Apparently he’d had relations with her, pretty good ones at that, but had no recollection of it. What was her name? He couldn’t remember but it started with an H according to the note. Crap. He’d had hot, amazing sex last night with her? With Haven?
He closed his eyes, and tried to remember more, considering dropping his pants and inspecting his stuff. He didn’t go that far but adjusted himself in his briefs, now conscious that he’d been inside a beautiful woman who he’d somehow brought some pretty decent pleasure to. More amazing than that, she hadn’t been turned off when she’d seen him. God, this was the weirdest feeling in the world.
But straining to remember more was no use. It only gave him a worse headache, not a name of the woman he’d slept with so carelessly. Or any remembrance of touching her. No way would he have not touched her. Ah, he did remember feeling something. He was an idiot. She’d sung him happy birthday, which would have been cool if he hadn’t just been crowned king of the losers by Erby. Wait, before that. The chorus of his favorite song as he’d sat there in silent chaos had touched him, even if he hadn’t let it show.
Somehow, after all that, he’d gotten close enough to kiss this other woman. Back on that well-meant futon. But how in the world did a guy like him end up hooking up with a woman like Haven?
She probably felt bad for him.
Story of my life, he thought.
Where was she now? Was she okay? They’d been in the office together. Which meant she could have seen him tossing his nachos. Surely she’d written the note and left in time to spare them both that lovely experience. And apparently, she was well. Better than well.
He shook his head, trying to understand last night. The problem was, his pride might be swelling on one hand but on the other, he felt like a huge ass wipe. He’d slept with a woman whose name he couldn’t remember and oh yeah, he didn’t do that kind of thing. It wasn’t anywhere in his nature. Jaxon and Stefan made women melt at the mere thought of the things those guys could do to them. Unless a chick was super into a personalized website or slick Facebook banner, Ben didn’t have much woo factor to offer. And a one-night-stand-to-blow-your-mind was definitely not on his menu. He wouldn’t have slept with Erby on their first date and he’d known her for six years! Okay, maybe he would have last night...
“I suck and ow,” he said, holding his head in one hand while his elbow dug into his knee. Closing his eyes, he tried to remember Haven’s hands on his legs, maybe playing with his knees. It was a hot fantasy, but he got nothing. “Great, just great,” he muttered and then stood up and flushed, even though he hadn’t even dropped his trousers.
It was time to make his way out.
But what if she was out there, waiting?
An apology. That’s what he owed her. A big ole I’m sorry. This woman might have been pleased with her experience but she should know he wasn’t that kind of guy.
As he dragged his reluctant feet from the stall, her kiss popped onto his lips. He remembered. She’d tasted like sweet cherries. He was so screwed. He knew he’d messed up and had no idea how to deal with this which meant avoidance until he figured it out. What would Jaxon do?
“You’re not Jaxon, dip wad. You’re Saint Benjamin,” he told himself as he swallowed, and followed the narrow hallway from the back office up to the café.
Coffee.
He needed some and if she was up there, he could invite her to have a cup with him. And maybe talk. Nerves brewed heavy in his stomach as he pushed open the curtains that divided the club from the café. Why in the world he chose that very moment to start worrying about condoms was beyond him. But he fumbled for his wallet and found the one he kept still tucked into his bill fold.
“Oh shit.”

Behind The Book with Elodie Parkes
A big Behind The Book welcome to Elodie Parkes! Today, she stops in to share with us the inspiration behind her newest release A Little Mysterious. Hi Donina,
Thank you for inviting me to the blog with my new Evernight Publishing release, ‘A Little Mysterious’.
The book is Romance on the Go, it’s an erotic paranormal romance, set in England and very sexy.
I’m talking about the inspiration behind the book today, and especially Dhruv the main male character.
I’ve had Dhruv in my mind for a couple of years, his name and his personality, but his looks and the complete story only gelled for me after a guy came into the place I work, and he was ‘just Dhruv’. Right way I knew I’d met Dhruv. (Laughs)
I got the name from some work I did when I was on a traveling holiday in Australia. I had to book appointments for a company, and there was a client named Dhruv Mystery. (Really) I loved the name and stored it in my memory for future use, though my Dhruv doesn’t have a surname. Also, the sight of an entire flock of black swans swimming in a river estuary near where I rented a holiday home stayed with me until the story poured out onto my laptop after, as I said, actually ‘meeting Dhruv’.
The man, who was just passing through the antique emporium where I currently work, was just gorgeous. His looks are described exactly in the book. (Smiles)
Blurb:
He’d been sent off course…he thought he was lost…until he found Daisy.
His vampire abilities were special. He belonged to an elite group. Moving home, they are set off course by a storm that lands Dhruv alone, hungry, and desperate in a strange town. That’s where he meets Daisy
Read an excerpt: 18+
He entered behind a group of other people and headed straight to the counter. There were no free stools, but bizarrely, as he stood in the gap between one row of four and another, two people stood up from their seats and their newly served drinks, and left. Dhruv sat down and waited until she approached him. He declined service from her colleague, and it made Daisy smile.
“Hi, Dhruv. What can I get you?” She gave him a special look. It said he could ask for anything he wanted.
Dhruv waited for a few seconds before he answered. He leaned on the counter top with his elbows and returned her look. “I think you know, Daisy.” There was more said in his tone of voice than the words.
They gazed at each other, and Daisy was mesmerized by his beauty. She gave an involuntary sigh as she looked at him. She wanted him so badly it made her dizzy. Each night she thought about him as she lay in bed waiting for sleep to overtake her. He would kiss her, not waiting long to put his hand inside her panties and feel her. Feel the throb between her legs, as she got wet wanting his fingers in her, wanting his cock in her. It made her needy and she sometimes had to reach her fingers down and stroke her clit for relief.
“Black coffee, please.”
Daisy broke into a grin. “One day, Dhruv, you’ll surprise me.” She left him watching her with his cool stare as she went to get his coffee.

Behind The Book with Molly Ann Wishlade
A big Behind The Book welcome to Molly Ann Wishlade! Today, she stops in to share the inspiration behind her newest release Wanton in the Wildwest.
My inspiration for the story came about because I just love writing erotic historical westerns. When I had the idea for this one I thought, what if she had two cowboys instead of one? How much fun would that be! So Amber, Gideon and Harry were born and believe me, they really have a lot of fun together! ;)
The characters were great fun to create! Amber is totally wanton! She’s fun, feisty and incredibly sensual. I wanted her to be reluctant to fall in love, so that she could be totally swept off her feet by Gideon and Harry. I really enjoyed creating her and making her naughty but nice. The two cowboys are gorgeous, masculine and tender. Everything a hero should be. Gideon is the dominant male in their relationship but Harry also makes Amber feel safe, aroused and protected.
BLURB
Sometimes a train journey can take you in an unexpected direction.
It is 1890, and the Chicago and North-Western Railroad now runs into Deadwood. After a year in Chicago, Amber Carpenter is homeward bound via steam train, escorted by two gorgeous cowboys. Amber swore a long time ago that she would never let a man hurt her, but that doesn’t mean that she’s not open to the idea of some fun.
Harry Delaney and Gideon Swain have their sights set on a bright future … if only their tragic past wasn’t holding them back. But from the moment they laid eyes on Amber Carpenter, they knew that there was something different about her.
Can the three of them turn their lives around within the space of a train journey?

Amber stirred and opened her eyes. She blinked rapidly trying to clear the disorientation she felt.
She was naked. Outside. Wrapped around a naked man.
Harry!
She lifted her head and looked into his hazel eyes.
“Hey there, beautiful!” he whispered, then leant towards her and kissed her softly.
She enjoyed the warmth of his lips on hers, the feel of his strong, hard body and the growing erection, which pressed into her belly.
“Hello, Harry.” She smiled then realized that the day was cooler. The sun was lower in the sky. “Shouldn’t we be getting back? Before we’re missed?”
Doubt flooded into his gaze, and she wished that she could withdraw her words.
“If that’s what you want. We’ve not been gone all that long though, and they’ll call. Or Gideon will come looking once they’re ready to go.”
Amber placed her forefinger over his lips.
“Okay. Then what do we do while we’re waiting?”
Harry kissed her finger, and then his lips curved into a broad smile. “I can think of a few things.”
He rolled her onto her back and started to kiss her. Amber stretched out, savoring the exquisite sensations shooting through her limbs and flooding her body. She was amazed at the effect that this man had upon her. Just a touch or a kiss could set her skin on fire and her heart racing.
Was this just a physical reaction? Like the engine of the train, which was powered by coal or wood, were her feelings for Harry just powered by lust and desire? Or was there something else unfolding here? Something out of her control that could threaten her very resolve to remain single and independent.
His insistent mouth worked away her fears and her confusion, and she surrendered to him. His mouth on her breasts, his skilled fingers working her clitoris, and his erect cock as it pressed into her leg all took her further away from rational thought.
Then he moved his hand lower. Amber gasped as he tenderly probed between her folds and found the tight hole that led into her body.
He looked up from her breasts for a moment, seeking her approval, and she nodded at him. She wanted this. He returned to suckle her breasts, a feeling so delightful that she felt as if something inside her moved in time with his mouth. She gasped when she felt him inside her, touching her secret place tentatively with a finger. As he moved it in and out, Amber sighed and entwined her hands in his hair. She moved her hips in time with him, enjoying yet wanting more.
When he slid in another finger, she felt her opening stretching. A slight burning. Then nothing but incredible intense ecstasy. So many new and wonderful feelings! He plunged into her then withdrew before plunging again.
She moaned as he covered her clitoris with his mouth, cradling her bottom in his left hand whilst working inside her body with his right one. And she began to ascend again, her excitement winding up inside her like a coiled spring until suddenly it burst from her with a hot gush, and she throbbed into his mouth, time after time after time, riding wave after glorious wave of delight.
Harry continued to kiss her pussy for a while, running his tongue over her silken folds and sucking at the place where he had entered her, and she shivered with delightful little aftershocks. Then he climbed up her body and lay over her, resting on his elbows. His face was shiny with her juices, and his eyes shone with lust and something else, something so intense that it made her heart flip.
“Harry,” she whispered as she cupped his bristly chin between her palms. “Thank you.”
“My pleasure.” He grinned.
“No.” A deep voice emerging from the trees startled them both. “My pleasure!”
Harry pushed himself up to his knees, and Amber rolled onto her belly, trying to hide her nudity.
“Gideon.” Harry smiled. He jumped to his feet and hurried towards the other cowboy.

Bridget Guthrie and Zander Hudson have worked at Club Splendor together for years, sharing smoldering glances, flirting, and building a friendship. Thanks to the club’s strict policy of no staff fraternization, they’ve resisted how much they truly want each another.
With Bridget leaving to explore her dreams, they no longer have to hide their passions. After hours, in one of the pleasure rooms at Club Splendor, they finally give in to the burning desire they’ve held at bay for too long. She’s taken care of other people’s love lives for so long while at the club, can she find the courage to take care of her own needs and fantasies?

Bridget gasped and inched away from him. Turning, her eyes locked with his. Her bottom came up against the table behind, her heart racing, realizing there was little room to move. She was trapped between Zander and the wooden object. Nerves skated down her spine. The hunger and need in the darkness of his eyes emboldened her, filled her with a confidence she never experienced before.
No time to think about that. Not when desperate need coursed through her. His first kiss against her skin changed things. There was no way she’d accept just friendship with him now.
Anxious, wanting to hold onto this moment with him, and share her innermost desires, she grabbed the remote from the table and hit a button. The curtains behind her opened. She watched Zander’s eyes shift upward and go wide. They returned to hers and he grinned.
Bridget hit another button and the room filled with moans and sounds of flesh slapping against flesh. She trembled hearing the couple’s rough but no-doubt-exhilarating sex behind the glass. Always hard on each other while at the same time as gentle as their love, both enjoyed vigorous and no-holds barred sex and gave no apologies.
Zander stepped toward her, and skimmed his palms across her stomach, creating heat and butterflies circling inside her. So hot, his skin warmed her.
But when he lowered his head to hers, his lips gliding against hers, all thoughts fled and she pulled him closer, need and anticipation filling her.
Empowered, she slipped her tongue inside of his mouth. He moaned and opened wider for her, allowing her to discover the delicious taste of him. Cupping his ass cheeks, she held him close as they explored, and his palms drifted over the globes of her bottom.
Her heart thrummed as he fisted the soft cotton of her skirt then tugged her even closer. She didn’t think it was possible to be so absorbed in this man. She craved crawling all over him for endless hours.
Zander pressed his forehead against hers. “Bridget,” he muttered, “I want you. So much.”
“I want you too.” She brushed her lips against his.
Lifting his hands, he made quick work of the buttons of her blouse. He pulled open the sides, and groaned. “This is what you wear to work?”
He smoothed his fingers along the valley between her breasts and skimmed over the sheer see-through material of her bra. She loved lingerie and spent as much money as possible at Victoria’s Secret. Her one indulgence, she treated to herself whenever she socked her school money away from her allotted bi-weekly checks or any extra income from working more hours at the club.
His wide and hungry eyes made her feel sexy and she smirked at him. “You don’t like it?”
“If I liked it any better I’d have a heart attack right now. Jesus, gorgeous…your tits are so hot behind that lacy stuff.”

River Reckoning -- New Release By Jenny Lyn
Congratulations to Jenny Lyn on her new release River Reckoning. Nothing is better than a sizzling romantic suspense novel! :-)
~ RIVER RECKONING (TROUBLE IN TRESPASS):
Bond Mason’s roots run deep in the backwoods hamlet of Trespass, Florida. Nestled against the banks of the Suwannee River, the only home she’s ever known holds bittersweet memories of a family long gone. Except one of her ghosts isn’t dead and possessive ex-lover James Kyle wants her back.
U.S. Deputy Marshal Nathan Gates sights are set on capturing fugitive Robert Kyle. Wanted for the cold-blooded murder of a DEA agent, Robert is suspected of being hidden away with his moonshine-brewing, marijuana-growing family of fellow lawbreakers, one of which is his brother, James.
Nathan expected high temperatures when he arrived in Trespass. What he hadn’t counted on is his searing attraction to southern beauty Bond Mason. She winds him around her finger like a tendril of Spanish moss, but his lawman’s intuition tells him she’s hiding secrets too. When he finally convinces her to talk, he’s not prepared for the dark truths she reveals about her hometown.
The Suwannee is deep, but Trespass’s sins run much deeper. For once, Nathan might be in over his head.
Excerpt (Rated R):
Bond rolled to her knees, still smiling, as she untied the sash to her robe. She let it fall open but didn’t shrug it off her shoulders. It parted in slow motion a few inches then stopped, revealing a swath of golden skin down the center of her body, the inviting valley between her breasts and the small patch of dark trimmed curls at the apex of her toned thighs. Nathan stood motionless, taking her in as he tried to decide what he wanted to set his mouth to first.
“Nathan.” Her fingers nervously toyed with the robe’s sash. He gradually raised his gaze to hers, tearing it away from the temptation of her body. “I have a small confession to make.”
His interest was piqued. “I’m listening.”
Color flooded her cheeks. He put one knee on the mattress and kissed her jaw reassuringly. She braced her hands on his biceps, the heat of a sigh warming his ear. “Last night when you were kind of … bossy … I liked it … a lot.”
He grinned. That was some admission. His single-minded cock wholeheartedly approved. It was so hard it threatened to bust through the teeth of his zipper. “You like me telling you what to do, huh?”
She nodded. Her fingers caught the hem of his t-shirt, stripping it over his head. “I like it when you talk.”
“Last night you said I talked too much.”
“I can’t be held accountable for the things I say during incredible sex. I want you to talk.”
Incredible sex. No argument there, it had been. Tonight was going to top that.
The robe slipped off one shoulder exposing her right breast, an enticement impossible to resist. Nathan ducked his head and made a lazy circle around her nipple with the tip of his tongue. It tightened to a stiff peak. He felt her fingers slide through his hair, heard the tiny moan she made in her throat. “Dirty?” he asked against her skin.
“Anything. I want to listen, not think. I like your voice, but if you were saying naughty things it would be even better.”
He chuckled as he eased off the bed. Bond sat back on her heels, resting her hands on her thighs expectantly. “Take your hair down.”
She released the clip, allowing the dark mass to tumble free. When she shook her head, damp curls slid over her shoulders. Nathan reached out and wound a long lock around his fingers, tugging gently. “You’re stunning.” More color flooded her cheeks and neck. Her bottom lip slipped between her teeth. “Come closer.”
Rising to her knees, she scooted to the edge of the bed, pressing her chest to his. Nathan caught the lapels of her robe in his fists and pulled it down her arms, trapping them at her sides. He buried his face in her neck, trailing kisses across the tender, fragrant skin. Her scent made him drunk with desire, crazy with need. Never had he been so affected by a woman as he was by Bond. She was like some illicit drug, and he’d become a hopeless addict with one sample.
Author Bio:
I started reading when I was four, thanks to a babysitter who found out the only way to get me to sit still was to put a book in my hand. By the time I entered kindergarten, I’d blown through just about every Little Golden Book ever printed. Ten years later, much to my mother’s dismay, I found her stash of paperback romance novels. She tried to divert me back to something more chaste by buying me Harlequins, but I still snuck copies of her Kathleen Woodiwiss’s and Johanna Lindsey’s when she wasn’t looking. Shanna, The Flame and the Flower, and Fires of Winter will always hold special places in my heart because they introduced me to roguish heroes, headstrong heroines, and the trouble they could get into together.
I live in a swampy little corner of north-central Florida with my family, both the two-legged and four-legged variety. I love to read, run hot and cold in regards to cooking, and I never miss an episode of Justified, Longmire, or Dexter. I guess I like justice in all its various forms.
