Predictions for SummerSlam 2014
Is it time for SummerSlam already? It feels like just yesterday, Daniel Bryan launched a Busaiku Knee Kick into John Cena’s face for the title. The subsequent screwjob led to one of the best written storylines in the Reality Era: The Yes Movement.
The Yes Movement was brilliant because it encouraged the Internet Wrestling Community to come together and “force” The Authority to give Bryan a shot. As if HHH wasn’t head over boots for Bryan in the first place. The IWC didn’t have any true impact...

The Mask: Comics and Secret Identities Part 1
Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” –Oscar Wilde
It’s a long-standing tradition in comic books for the heroes and villains to wear masks. Everyone from lone rangers (but not Tonto, for some reason) to secret squirrels (But not Morocco Mole) don the mask. The mask is the symbol of the genre. But why?

Different Secret Squirrel
The logical reason is that they need to protect their true identities from the public. They give rationa...

Blog Reboot Part One
I just spent the day organizing my posts into categories. I also changed the color scheme, and posted a new writing lesson.
I would like to add an option for people to contact me, but I’m not exactly sure how. Will this do it?
[contact-form]
If it works, I can put that on my home page too. Now I’m gonna try to add a poll.
What do you think of the new layout?

Return from road trip, and website plans
I got back from my road trip sunday evening. I am overwhelmed with things I want to talk about. I don’t know where to start. I think it’ll take several posts to get it all out.
I also want to redo this website. I plan on adding categories, maybe a new color scheme, and a way to contact me personally. I might even start a mailing list and offer free stuff to the subscribers. I just have to learn how to do all of that. I wish I was better with computers.
I love you all very much and must express...

Road Trip
On Monday I am leaving to drive up the Northeast coast. From NYC, I’ll be stopping in Mystic, and then driving all the way up US-1 to Mid-coast Maine. No, I’m not worried about this post letting people know that no one’s home. I literally have nothing of value besides this computer, which is coming with me. I’m a writer, and that means that I will be poor for my entire life.
I keep telling myself that this is a work-related trip. The current Watchmage novel deals with smuggling and piracy in a...

Gonna Need an Ocean/ of Calamine Lotion
I hate poison ivy.
I have it on and around both my knees. It sucks so hard it could rip the head off of a lollypop. Every step I take, raw skin rubs against raw skin.
I’m going on a road trip next week to Maine, and I hope by then it’s cleared up. I doubt it though. I heard that it takes two weeks to clear up.
On the bright side…um…something positive.
I’ll leave you with this.

Doesn’t Marketing and Promotion Suck?
The answer: It does.
I’ve been trying to improve SEO (search engine optimization) for the site. I added a few links to other writers, and they did the same for me. It’s made a huge difference so far in search engine clicks.
I hate promotions and marketing. I just want to write and let everything else take care of itself. That’s the main reason why I submitted to publishing houses instead of self published. I don’t have the inclination (or the money) to do all the little things a self-published...

Philosophy Explained Through Art…and The Matrix
I enjoy reading about philosophy. I think it’s a writerly thing, especially speculative fiction writers like me. After all, it’s our job to ask “what if?” “What if a great power is awoken, and the only way to stop it is by throwing his ring into a volcano?” “What if there’s a secret wizard society, and children go to a special school to study magic?” “What if there’s a world where the seasons can last for decades?” You get the idea.
I found this page very interesting. It’s almost a crib sheet...

Daniel Bryan: Crimestopper
Daniel Bryan runs down and chokes out a burglar. TKO by rear naked choke. Not bad for someone that just had major neck surgery.
Originally posted on The Jobbers Wrestling Review:
In some of the most bad ass news I’ve heard all day, Daniel Bryan captured a burglar in his house and choked him out until the police came.
This is not a joke. It might be kayfabe, but I don’t think so.
Apparently, he came home with Brie to find burglars in his home. They dropped the loot and scattered, bu...

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and What DC Doesn’t Understand
Comic-Con season is the geekiest time of the year. Every day there’s a new thing to go nuts over. This time it’s Wonder Woman’s costume in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie (the worst name ever).
I like it, and Gal Gadot looks great in it (what doesn’t she look great in?). I picture Wonder Woman as more muscular, but it’s not my movie, I’m not the casting director. Gadot brings star power, if a lack of acting chops (the awful Fast and the Furious Series doesn’t count). Gal Gadot is a m...
