What Makes a Monster – Free Virtual Visit!
Hey there!
Thank you so much for reading What Makes a Monster! I love connecting with readers, but it can be hard to meet with everyone in person! To make up for it, I created this free virtual visit to go along with the book! I hope you enjoy it!

Let Your Art Out
For as long as I can remember… I’ve been writing with Hans Zimmer. As a ten year old, I would listen to the score of the Lion King on repeat, while diligently crafting Nala-taking-over-the-pride fanfiction and eating way too many Twizzlers. As a kid in high school, themes from Gladiator and Pearl Harbor were typical backgrounds as I studied Biology and English. And I don’t think I would have passed my Philosophy of Science class in university without the Batman and Pirates of the Caribbean s...

What Makes a Monster Book Trailer!
Hey, readers!
I’m thrilled to show off the What Makes a Monster trailer today! The lovely Mr. Schu Reads was kind enough to debut this for me, along with a really fun word association game. Check it out to get even more of a peek at the book!
I was really amazed to see the response to Pink is for Blobfish, so I knew I had to really bring it for this follow-up book. It is jam-packed with awesome science and animals, and I bet it will even make you reconsider those animals you are so terrifying...

The Curious Creative – Classroom Magazine
Hello!
If you follow me here or on Twitter, you know how much a fan I am of connecting with readers and educators. You all do so much, and it’s important to me to create things that are meaningful to you as readers, but also helpful in an educator setting. I love getting kids excited about science, writing, and creativity.
To that end, I decided to do something a little different. I’m always looking for ways to combine the topics I cover online in a way that is beautiful, easy to share, and m...

One of my favorite parts about being an author is getting to meet my readers. I wish I could travel to every school, but since I can’t, I wanted to make a little something special. Below you’ll find...

A Very Blobby Thank You
We are almost one year out from the first publication of PINK IS FOR BLOBFISH! When I was first brainstorming this book, I knew I wanted it to be a little different. It’s definitely a book full of weird creatures, but at its heart (to me, that is), it’s a book that celebrates the diversity of something that we often see as one-note. It’s a book that shows by example just how wrong we can be about something we think we knew.
We create so many limitations for people—”pink is for girls, science...
