Strange Bedfellows

Sisyphus Shrugged by Robert Peate As I continue reading Robert Peate's "Sisyphus Shrugged" - a sequel to Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged," I am engrossed in the 99%'s struggle against the Left's eternal adversary - big capital. But as I follow current events and am subjected to the usual barrage of TV commercials - something really odd appears. While it is busily working to enslave us economically, big capital is working just as hard on our behalf on the cultural front. From Walmart and other corporations standing up to governors about gay discrimination laws to TV commercials about biracial families eating Cheerios, big capital is turning out to be a huge weapon against the Right. Now I have no illusions that capital has any genuine concern for the oppressed minorities among us, but as the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Capital tends to side with winners - which ever side has the most potential customers. So while it worked against us on social issues in the past, now that we've garnered at least half the population to our side, capital supports us. So for now, big capital has gone from the status of "enemy" to the status of "frenemy." Strange bedfellows indeed.
