MELINDA M. SNODGRASS

Melinda Snodgrass was born in Los Angeles, but her family moved to New Mexico when she was five months old making her almost a native. She studied opera at the Conservatory of Vienna in Austria, graduated from U.N.M. with a degree in history, and went on to Law School. She practiced for three years, and discovered that while she loved the law she hated lawyers so she began writing.
In 1988 she accepted a job on Star Trek: TNG, and began her Hollywood career. Her novels, The High Ground, In Evil Times and The Hidden World are available from Titan Books. She is the executive producer on the upcoming Wild Cards shows being developed for Hulu. Her passion (aside from writing) is riding her Lusitano stallion Vento da Broga.

The Odyssey: I Need To See It Again

I went and saw Nolan’s Odyssey on Wednesday, and I can’t stop thinking about the film. It was visually stunning, the music by Göransson which harkened back to the music of the period and used recreated Greek instruments allowed me to slip the bonds of present day and live in a allegory.

I haven’t read The Odyssey since high school and it as I recall it read like a fantasy story for me. I didn’t see

“Sou totalmente a favor do consolo. Se eles simplesmente parassem nisso, mas nunca param. As pessoas sempre decidem ue todos os outros também precisam de consolo e é melhor que seja sua versão do consolo. E, caso não seja, geralmente provam sua tese com a ponta de uma espada ou o cano de uma arma".”

“And I realized that maybe none of us ever gets to choose our lives. Our only choice is to live the life that comes to us, or go down into darkness.”

Melinda Snodgrass I realize that Goodreads always gets the short end of the stick. Between blog, Facebook, Twitter and Google + I just don't think to come over here, and say anything. I also keep forgetting to update my books read. I'm reading, I'm just not posting.

I also tend to read books for my critgroup, and so I don't have a lot of time for pleasure reading. Between my own writing, and riding I run out of hours in the day. Right now my relaxation time is spent playing video games which is probably a terrible confession for a writer.
