The website for Generation One: The Search for Black Wealth offers the following synopsis of the film: With the 2007 recession, the housing crisis and soaring unemployment rates leaving Black America’s wallet trapped in the crosshairs of the United States’ financial crisis, the lack of generational wealth in the African-American community has never been in sharper focus. Generation One takes a hard look at the numbers, giving historical context to early wealth creation in the Black community and tapping the expertise of the nation’s top financial experts to weigh in Read the Full Story

Stronger – A SavvyReview and Giveaway

Interestingly, the authors of Stronger: Develop the Resilience You Need to Succeed bring together three diverse backgrounds. George Everly Jr., Ph.D., is a founding father of modern stress management and a pioneer in the field of human resilience; Douglas Strouse, Ph.D., is the Managing Partner of an international management consulting firm and a recognized expert on business resilience; and Dennis McCormack, Ph.D., is one of the original Navy SEALS and pioneered SEAL combat doctrine and tactics in Vietnam. Immediately after receiving the book I read the Forward by George Worthington, Read the Full Story

A Challenge for Men and Women

All of us know that women tend to outlive men. A compilation of life expectancy lists – from the World Health Organization, the United Nations, the Global Burden of Disease Study and the CIA – on Wikipedia show the age breakdowns for what I assume is every, or nearly every, country. While there may be one or two countries where men outlive women on average, I do not recall seeing one on my scroll through all four lists. What does this mean in the context of personal finance? It means Read the Full Story

Living Frugally: Use Coupons and Save

I will be the first to acknowledge that I rarely use coupons. That is because I rarely go shopping, grocery or otherwise. Love that Amazon Prime with the two-day shipping … ahh, but I digress. This Living Frugally post was written in collaboration with Mrs. SavvyJames … she provided all the input and I simply typed and prepared Read the Full Story

A quick search led me to Read the Full Story
