ONE - Nina's POV

“Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.

My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.

“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.

Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”

TWO - Jethro's POV

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”

I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.

And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted to savour it. Devour it.

My Review:

Devil’s Prey is a story that will suck you in and leave you wanting more. The story of Mags and Max was so well done. Mags is a girl who had her life chosen for her. It isn’t a life anyone would choose, she can’t get out of it but she makes the best of it until she meets Max and her world changes again. Only this time for the better. Or is it? Is Max just what Mags needs or will he lead her further into the darkness she is trying so hard to escape? Well you just have to 1click and find out. This isn’t a super dark story; to me it is more of a super suspenseful erotic novel with little hints of darkness. I haven’t mentioned yet that Max and Mags set fire to the pages of your e-reader. The sex is scorching and it will make you want to read more. Be sure and bring your b.o.b. and some extra batteries. You will need them. Highly recommend!

My Review:

Have you ever read a book so unbelievable epic that you think your review won’t even be good enough?

Well that’s how I feel right now. Hard Roads was an incredible story of life and what it truly means to be alive. It was DARK. Good lord it was one of the darkest books I’ve ever read. It kept me turning the pages in hopes of a happy ending for Holly. Does she get one? Well you need to read it to find out. Do you know the author? Maybe she will have one in a twisted way? Maybe she won’t have one at all. READ IT for yourself. It’s worth it!

All I can say is that you will constantly be on the edge of your seat while reading this intense book. You think you know what’s going to happen and then BAM! Just when you’re comfortable again she throws a wet towel over your face and it’s so hard to breathe. Everything is all intense and dark and and!!! I can’t spoil it for you but this book is fantastically dark.

My Review:
Right away I'm hooked into the story with two friends talking over coffee about something that shouldn't be discussed in a coffee shop. It made me giggle because they were talking about something so serious and sexual and yet anyone could overhear them. Lila is a overworked girl who needs some time alone so her friend gives Lila her cabin for the snowy weekend. Once at the cabin Lila meets Theo (her long time crush) and he gives her the chance to change her life forever. He offers her the chance to relax and let someone else take control.

After a bit of talking and safe word usage, Theo ties her up with her own scarves and then makes little origami cranes that he puts all around her body, in perfect places to make her squirm. This part was simply beautiful. He used a mirror to show her how she looked so she could see how he saw her. She cried when she saw it and the emotion was so raw in that chapter, it was so extremely well done that I cried myself.

He continues to adorn her with some ties and bring her closer and closer to her orgasm. I think one of my favorite lines in the book is

"You're killing me," she croaked.
"No." He shook his head. "I'm just making sure that when you fly, you remember it forever."

That gave me shivers! Theo is really going all out! He has been ignoring his own desires just to make her have the best experience ever. He uses all of her own belongings to make the experience even more personal. From her scarves to her bobby pins... he truly takes the time and effort to make it an experience she won't forget.

The characters were so well done, thought out and just perfect that I could have known them for all my life. I was able to really see into their lives instead of just "reading about it." I was able to feel Lila's emotion, her fear about trusting Theo... then the heat and passion once she finally said yes. The author did a fantastic job with the details in this story. I totally recommend this book to anyone who loves minor BDSM and romances. Five Wonderful Gold Stars!

My Review:

I was so lucky to receive an ARC from the author and OMG Torrent blew me away! I was simply stunned at the amazingness of this story. Its dark and twisted and contains things that a normal girl shouldn't go through. I'll repeat that one more time. This is a DARK book! There is no butterflies and rainbows. Just a hot-as-hell dirty talking man named Rafe.

It was brilliantly written and kept me on the edge until the very last page. I really couldn't put this book down. I read it in about five hours and I plan on reading it again. It was HOT. The sex was scorching... So much so that you will need extra batteries.

This man... Rafe is the most perfect dirty talking bad boy and holy crap... I don't want him as my book boyfriend I want him forever haha good lord this man can talk.

I give this book five wonderfully delicious stars!



10 Random Facts About Torrent

1. I began writing Torrent last summer. Back then it was a barebones beginning about a young, reckless girl and her dead brother's best friend who couldn't fight his darkness any longer. The island has been in the story all along.

2. I really have Skye Warren to thank for how Torrent turned out. Last year around Christmas time, she called for submissions for a short story anthology about criminals. Well, I had an idea…and that idea was too good to confine to a short story. I decided to combine my earlier efforts with the premise of a girl sending a man to prison for a crime he didn't commit, and him coming back for what he felt he deserved.

3. Once I had the island in mind (small, privately own, with a single cabin on it), I turned to Google to find out if I could find any real islands of a similar nature to use as a reference. There just happens to be one about three hours from where I live, situated on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. It even has a cabin on it. I've driven there twice and have seen it from the highway. I call it "my island." The setting in the novel, though based on real places, is purely fictional, with the exception of the Columbia River and Portland, Oregon.

4. I rewrote the beginning about three, maybe four times.

5. Zach and Alex were originally full-blooded siblings. I gave into censoring myself out of fear of being banned from retailers, even though I had no intention at first of writing sexual scenes between the two. Once I changed their relation to step-siblings, the brief taboo scene in the beginning formed, and in my opinion, strengthened the setup of the novel. It also opened wicked avenues for book two. ;)

6. I didn't immediately know why Alex sent Rafe to prison. She was a stubborn character who kept me in the dark for a while!

7. Torrent is the first book in which I wrote from the hero's POV. It was interesting getting inside Rafe's head.

8. One of the twists about Rafe's past (something he learns after he's out of prison) basically wrote itself into the story part way through. Same with Jax, Rafe's buddy. These characters and subplots just popped in of their own accord!

9. If you're looking for an easy read with hearts, flowers, and mainstream topics—this isn't the book for you. This story will make you squirm, possibly make you sick at times, and push you into the darkest corners of your mind. But I'm a romantic at heart and believe in happy endings. Getting there is hell though.

10. I do not feel guilty about the cliffhanger ending. Have you watched any TV season finales lately? AHHHHHHHH! I understand the frustration, and I'm evil enough to rub my hands together in glee. Don't lynch me. I'm working on the second book. :D

My Review:
Wow! First off, let me mention that this isn't a dark book at all. It's a romantic mystery. It's a cute love story actually with a ton of drama thrown in perfectly. I know it kept me guessing on who the bad guy was. I kept second guessing myself and at the end I still didn't have it right.

Dawn made some amazing characters in this book that you can really connect with. I could see myself being friends with Aurora and her son. Dawn does a fantastic job of keeping you on the edge of your seat, keeping you interested and turned on as you read this amazing story. I finished it in one day because I couldn't put it down. This is a wonderful story by Dawn Robertson that I recommend to anyone who wants a little suspense in their romance.
