Death's Good Intentions & Kindle Unlimited

I have decided to give Kindle Unlimited a try for my latest book. If you’re a subscriber, you can now read Death’s Good Intentions for free on your Kindle device.

Why this is cool: Kindle Unlimited is sort of like a Netflix service for ebooks. If you’re a subscriber, you can read as many books as you want, and now Death’s Good Intentions is part of the catalog. I’ll also have some promotional tools at my control, like the Countdown deals, which I’ll put to use later.

Why it’s not so cool: For an indie author to have their ebook in the Kindle Unlimited catalog, the ebook must be taken down from other sites. This means that Death’s Good Intentions is no longer available for Nook, iBooks, Kobo, or Smashwords. That sucks. I wish it were another way, but it ain’t.

So why did I decide to make my book an Amazon exclusive? Well, I wanted the goods they were offering… and to be perfectly honest, sales have always been pretty poor on the other sites. For the moment, it doesn’t feel like such a bad trade. However, I don’t expect Death’s Good Intentions to be an Amazon exclusive forever. If and when things change, I’ll let you know.

For now, allow me to direct you to the book’s Kindle listing. Amazon US & Amazon UK.

And don’t forget the novel is also available in paperback.

Help make The Man with the Devil's Tongue FREE on Amazon

Hello everybody! I was wondering if I could ask you for a moment of your time…

My novella The Man with the Devil’s Tongue is free everywhere except for Amazon. I want to change that. Amazon does not give authors a FREE option when choosing their book’s price. The only way to get Amazon to make a book permanently free is to ask Amazon to price match another site. The more people who submit the cheaper prices found elsewhere, the quicker Amazon will price match.

This is what must be done!

New Blog

I was never pleased with my old website. The new site design is very much a work in progress, but I like it more already. One thing I like about it is that I can have my blog right here and not a few clicks away on some other blogging platform. That means I can actually interact with you guys from my site -- something I wasn't able to do before! Man, that pissed me off.

Anyway. My gameplan involves having regular posts for the new blog. However, at the moment I'm a tad busy with other projects...

Death’s Good Intentions is Book 1 of the dark, urban fantasy series The End of the World and Some Other Things. The series is about the man chosen to become Death, the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse. Death rejects his role in the coming Apocalypse, making himself an enemy of both Heaven and Hell. BLOOD CHILD now available!

NEW RELEASE: BLOOD CHILD, a paranormal thriller about a man with a dark destiny and a parasite on his soul.

Available as an ebook from Amazon, Amazon UK, iTunes, and Smashwords for only $1.99.

Blood Child is a prequel story in the urban fantasy series The End of the World and Some Other Things. Earlier this month I had released The Man with the Devils Tongue (which you can get for FREE from Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, and iTunes – it remains $0.99 on Kindle). The Man with the Devil’s Tongue introduced you to the female lead of the series, the young April Frausini. With Blood Child, you are introduced to the male lead, the newly chosen Pale Rider, Trey Decarr.

Blood Child is a bit different from The Man with the Devil’s Tongue -- a bit nastier, more violent, and a tad darker in tone. This is partly because it’s a book where Death himself is the hero. Decarr’s a bit of a bastard, but he’s trying. He used to kill people for a living until he caught the attention of the Powers That Be. They named him Death, the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse. Instead of helping to bring about the end times, Decarr rejects his role and does what he can to prevent the coming Apocalypse, making him an enemy of demons everywhere. In Blood Child, his rebellious choices enrage the long dead Ivan Tarkovsky, the man who was chosen to be Death during World War II. Tarkovsky leaves the comforts of Hell so that he may possess Decarr and set him on the ‘proper path’…

A bit of background info for those interested: Blood Child was written during 2013’s NaNoWriMo. This was my first attempt at the competition and I did all right, completing my manuscript well before the end of November. Lots of time on the shelf, followed by a few rounds of edits, and you have the book you see now. I rather like it. It’s like a sort of American road trip horror show mixed with paranormal/urban fantasy stuff. I dig it. I hope you do, too.

Blood Child is available for $1.99 for Kindle, Smashwords, and iBooks. It should be available for Nook before the end of the day.

A paperback copy will be available at some later date for around $10. It was always my intention to make the paperback available at the same time as the ebook, but when I decided to publish three books in six weeks I knew that something was bound to go wrong at some point. I’ll let you know when the paperback becomes available.

Death's Good Intentions ARCs

Hello, my fellow internet wanderers. If you’ve been following my posts lately, you might be aware that I’m releasing some dark fantasy books in August and September. These books are The Man with the Devil's Tongue (available now), Blood Child (available 8/26), and Death's Good Intentions (available 9/9).

One of the common ways to drum up sales and support for a new novel is to offer an advance-review-copy (also known as an ARC) to readers who are willing to post a review in exchange for the freebie book they receive.

So! I am offering free ARCs of Death’s Good Intentions to anybody willing to write an honest review and post it to Amazon (if you want to post it to some other additional site -- like, say, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, your blog, etc. -- that’d be excellent, too). I repeat: an honest review. If you wanna give the book five stars, then great! I’m always happier to receive positive feedback as compared to being dragged through the mud and kicked in the gut. But I’m not asking for fake praise here.

Heck, if you’re interested in all the upcoming books, I’d be happy to give you The Man with the Devil’s Tongue and Blood Child, too (of course, The Man with the Devil’s Tongue is already widely available –- but the offer stands anyway!). It should be noted that I would be supplying an ARC in ebook form, not as a paperback. I can send either a pdf, a mobi, or an epub file –- your choice.

If you’re interested in one or all of these books, all you gotta do is CLICK HERE and fill out the form.

I’m leaving this offer open for a while. Depending on how many bites I get, I may close this before too long. So, if you’re interested, let me know!

Thank you for your time!

RESUME ALL REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING.

The Man with the Devil's Tongue: Free on Smashwords and Google Play

With The Man with the Devils Tongue, my intention was always to make the book as cheap as possible, so that it would act as a gateway to the rest of the series. Ideally it would be totally free of charge, but Amazon does not currently offer this option. The novella is available for $0.99 on Amazon . . . and as of today it is free on Smashwords and the Google Play Store. My hope is that it will be available for free on the Nook soon, and after that Amazon may be good enough to price match the book and make the Kindle ebook free as well.

I’ll let you know when it becomes available for free on Kindle and Nook. Keep checking back!

And to the handful of you who already purchased it from Amazon, THANK YOU.
