Drowned Earth online Launch

Today is the day. After a year - a tumultuous year - the novella finally went out into the ether and the other 7 novellas in the series are all being launched today on FaceBook.

The launch is the culmination of an interesting journey from pitch, to first 1000 words and on to actually write the whole story. Then editing and more editing and then sending it off for the structural edit and

Developing character voice

2.11 An exercise for developing character voice

....

Let’s try this with a character of your own: explore your
character’s eating patterns, and then stress them. Rob them, arrest
them, or make sure that their credit card is refused. Whatever it is,
make sure that the character will have to struggle to extricate
themselves from the situation. The character’s dialogue and action

Introduction to screenwriting develop character outlines

2.6 An exercise to develop character outlines

When we start the process of character development it helps to
create character outlines. Drawing on Michael’s article and the
panel discussion, create an outline for a character from a film that
you’ve recently seen or use it as an opportunity to develop a
character of your own.

List the character’s major actions. Start from the end

NYC Midnight short story challenge 2019 round 1 Heat 18 - Action/Adventure / An eclipse / A fugitive

 Eclipsed

“If I make it out of here Mike,
our friendship is over!”

Winny gritted her teeth and pulled
herself further up the hill.

She reached for the next sapling,
sandals slipping on the dried grass pulling her back down and tearing
off another glittering fingernail. She cradled her hand under her
body for a few minutes while the pain receded and pressed her face
into the grass.

GDPR and other important things

GDPR...um okay it is a lot of important information and it is complicated and it protects the rights of people in the EU to control their personal data and I have until the 25th of May to comply with it if I wish people from the EU to feel welcome to read my blog if they so desire. Now my little blog only has four followers and you know who you are and at least one quater/quatre of you are in the

Killing my social media for a minute

Back in May (Fri 19/05/17) the Moorabool Writers' Craft group launched it's second anthology of stories.Nineteen writers and poets contributed work and I created the cover art.

Life has been busy since then with COMMITMENTS(non story telling stuff) and some writing. I wasn't getting enough story telling down on paper so I killed my super procrastinator - SOCIAL MEDIA! It lasted a week and

Grammar things

Source: www.grammarcheck.net

I quite like grammar things especially handy charts. The problem is I either run out of ink too soon or run out of walls to stick them on. I really need a studio. No I don't need a studio but I would like one with great big whiteboards and magnets so I can story board all my stories and not have to pack them up all the time. A studio with a big padlock on the door

Accessability

Today I am learning about accessibility for my site.
This may just be my own personal little babble blog but I believe it is important to make it accessible to anyone who might want to visit.
To that end I am going to attempt to make what I share here, comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0

I may not get it right but I will try.

I downloaded a thingy that speaks to me.

Puffing Billy

THANK YOU LOUIS

29/06/17

Yesterday, toddler-boy and I went on a train trip. We wore scarves and gloves, beanies and two jackets. There are no windows on Puffing Billy and the temperatures in winter are quite chill for Australia.

Louis, who is now an official volunteer with the Puffing Billy team, invited us along as his guests. Thank you

A night in Ballan

24/06/2017
Tonight was the celebration of an idea.

Ballan, the tiny town with a big heart, has hosted the Black Lite Black Nite festival for the past week,

A small but dedicated group of artists, many of whom belong to the wombat regional arts group  decided to create a community event in Ballan to get people together. Many other creative organisations from quilters to writers and plenty
