Overgrowth

This was a highly anticipated read for me. I love many of the author’s books, I adore aliens, and I love horror, and especially plant-based body horror is super fascinating for me.
Unfortnately, the book ended up not really working for me.

Annihilation meets Day of the Triffids in this full-on body horror/alien invasion apocalypse.

This is just a story. It can’t hurt you anymore.
Since she was three years old, Anastasia Miller has been telling anyone who would listen that she’s an alien disgui...

Autie-biographical Comics

Did you know I was autistic?

It took me years to figure it out, some of my family still denies it. I didn’t present the same way that my younger brother does. He got a diagnosis at about two years old. My step-mother turned into an autism mom. Between all of that, clearly I wasn’t autistic. Afterall, I was a pleasure to have in class. I was just awkward and shy. It happens. My spouse calls me peer-reviewed at this point. I will say something and they will just look me dead in the eyes (you k...

Safe Harbor

An uplifting novel in verse about an immigrant girl adjusting to life in the US through her love of nature, music, and poetry, by the award-winning author of The Bridge HomeWhen Geetha and her mom move from India to Rhode Island after her parents’ divorce, they leave everything Geetha loves behind—her family, her friends, her dog, and all that’s familiar. As if that’s not hard enough, Geetha is bullied at her new school for her clothes, her food, and her English (who knew so many English words ...

Perfect Girl

“Jessa has been raised to be the “perfect girl.” She is unfailingly polite, never rocks the boat, and always follows the rules―no matter what. Her friends love to give her a hard time for being such a goody two-shoes, but Jessa likes it this way. She knows what’s expected of her, and she’s happy to be the person her parents (and society) want.

When a freak storm takes out the power during a sleepover at Jessa’s creepy, old house, things go south before the pizza gets cold. Her friends are at ...

The Solution

Definitely my favourite of the series. Vincent and Mal were absolutely lovely both apart and together, and I loved that there was no unecessary drama around, be in between them or from outside sources. The story had enough tension on its own and worked out perfectly.

Vincent’s determined to leave his divorce in the past and start fresh somewhere new. The solution? He’s about to find it at his friend’s wedding in the arms of a much older man.
All single dad Vincent is expecting from his friend...

Kris’ Journey

“They say sexuality is fluid. Kris is in his own category, or so he believes, as he sets out to explore trysts with men while trying to find the median between his male and female sides.

A graphically enticing, but also thoughtful, read for anyone into domination and submission, as well as men into straight to gay conversion or exploring crossgenderism.

The book gets inside the heads of two characters. Kris, with autogynephilia tendencies, reticent but eager to explore men. The other, Simo...

Free

“An accident brought Rex’s career as an interplanetary bodyguard to an abrupt end. Now, he spends his time tending fruit trees and dreaming of his exciting past. One day, he gets an unexpected opportunity to pick up a ray gun again, but things aren’t how he remembered them…”

I got an ARC of this book.

Something about this art style just always intriques me. It is unique and just fits the way the stories flow. It is not hyper realistic or anything that will hit the mark with a lot of peo...

Bat Eater

This was incredible, super spooky, infuriating, and holding a lot of emotion.

In this explosive horror novel, a woman is haunted by inner trauma, hungry ghosts, and a serial killer as she confronts the brutal violence experienced by East Asians during the pandemic.

Cora Zeng is a crime scene cleaner, washing away the remains of brutal murders and suicides in Chinatown. But none of that seems so terrible when she’s already witnessed the most horrific thing possible: her sister, Delilah, being ...

Hitched at Randy’s

Waking up in Vegas with a hangover and a wedding band on your finger never ends well, but what if this time it does?

Love beyond the binary, serving up low angst trans romances at Randy’s Diner

Hitched at Randy’s is a low angst MM (cis male/trans male) romance about friends who get married by mistake only to realize maybe it was the right move all along.”

I got an ARC of this book.

I am FINALLY caught up on the Diner Days books! This was the last one I had to review and it was a g...

At Every DepthAt Every Depth: Our Growing Knowledge of the Changing OceansAt Every Depth

“The world’s oceans are changing at a drastic pace. Beneath the waves and along the coasts, climate change and environmental degradation have spurred the most radical transformations in human history. In response, the people who know the ocean most intimately are taking action for the sake of our shared future. Citizen scientists track species in California tidepools. Researchers dive into the waters around Sydney to replant kelp forests. Scientists and First Nations communities collaborate to r...
