He’s handsome, experienced, rich, kind, and in complete control of his destiny. Unfortunately he’s also a criminal, the President of an outlaw motorcycle club, and I’ve sworn off bad boys in my efforts to live my dream of being normal. Beach Gorgeous, smart, and deadly, Sarah is my ideal woman, even if she is almost young enough to be my daughter. On the surface she’s one of the toughest females I’ve ever met, but underneath all that hard beauty and menace lies an incredibly tender heart that’s been damaged in the past. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened. From a young Ann has had a love affair with books would read everything she could get her hands on. As Ann grew older, and her hormones kicked in, she discovered bodice ripping Fabio-esque romance novels. They were great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back. Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has accepted that her Muse has a severe case of ADD.

Author Spotlight on Kim Kash

Author Spotlight on
Kim Kash

Kim Kash is the author of two novels in the Jamie August series: Ocean City Cover-up (2015) and Ocean City Lowdown (2013). She also wrote the bestselling Ocean City: A Guide to Maryland's Seaside Resort (2009), and is currently working on the next installment in the Jamie August series. Kim divides her time between Maryland and the Middle East, which can be weird.

What inspired you to write your first book?

As a freelance writer back in 2008, I wrote a travel guide to Ocean City, Maryland for the Tourist Town series (Ocean City: A Guide to Maryland's Seaside Resort). While I was researching that book, I wanted to read some good mysteries set in the region—and I found that there aren’t very many. Ocean City is a gold mine of funny characters and kitschy, fun scenery, and it holds plenty of memories from my own life. I was surprised that the OC-inspired fiction choices were so thin, so I decided to chime in with my own series.

Have you ever disliked something you wrote?

I dislike everything I write, the first time around! I have done a lot of work as a professional editor, and it’s very difficult for me to just shut up and write, you know? My first drafts are always a mess, and I hate them. But I’m finally getting into the rhythm of it and learning to get out of my own way and just get the draft done. Then I edit, edit, and edit again. In terms of disliking any finished pieces? I’m pretty happy with my creative writing. I try not to get my ego too caught up in any of it, though. I write campy genre fiction, with glee! I love it that readers enjoy my stuff, but when I get a cranky Amazon review, it doesn’t cause much existential angst.

How has your writing career changed in the past year?

My writing career just changed in the last month, because I have taken a full-time job. I’m coordinating logistics for the expatriate school in my community, which definitely scratches my organizational itch. I’m really happy about this change. And yet…. I haven’t had to report to work wearing real clothes and makeup in almost ten years. No more days of working in my pajamas on the couch with only my cat Eddie for company. I am still adjusting to the time crunch, trying to figure out put in a full day’s work and still eat healthy, exercise and get enough sleep--plus finish the third novel. Good Lord! Other people do this, I keep telling myself. And it is getting better: I’m getting more efficient, and I have every intention of finishing the next book in my series.

What are you reading now or what do you have in your TBR pile?

Next up is Bad Citizen Corporation, the debut crime novel of fellow UCSB grad S.W. Lauden. It came out last month with some wildly enthusiastic reviews, so I’m pretty excited to read it—and not just because we cut our teeth at the same college newspaper. Lauden is a big supporter of indie fiction, interviewing fellow authors and organizing readings and events in Southern California. We need somebody like Lauden on the East Coast—or maybe we have one, but I haven’t been invited to the party yet. Living in Saudi Arabia but writing about Ocean City, Maryland does leave me rather disconnected with what’s going on with my community of authors.

What are you working on now?

I’m well into Ocean City Getaway, the third in the Jamie August series. In this installment, Jamie faces such daunting challenges as infiltrating a ring of con artists working the eastern seaboard; fighting against her vegetarian boyfriend’s campaign to make her stop eating crabcakes (this may involve a breakup); and smiling through her best friend’s beach wedding while wearing an off-the-shoulder lavender bridesmaid’s dress.

Ocean City Lowdown: A Jamie August Novel (Book 1)

Ocean City Lowdown introduces Eastern Shore Maryland reporter Jamie August, who has a talent for unearthing more than her editor wants and a weakness for Ravens jerseys and sparkly underwear. She is assigned to cover the grand opening of a big new housing development in Ocean City, Maryland. But instead of writing about wrap-around porches and rattan furnishings, she uncovers kickbacks and payoffs, blackmail and murder. Jamie's tenacity, smarts, and sheer recklessness—plus some smokin’ striptease dance moves—can get her out of some tight spots, but are they enough to save her from a psychopathic arsonist and two generations of corrupt real estate tycoons?

Ocean City Cover-up: A Jamie August Novel (Book 2)

Euro-trash collides with American gangsta in Maryland’s gleefully cheesy beach resort. Reporter Jamie August befriends a spoiled heiress who is being pursued by Russian mobsters—and a chart-topping rap star. Meanwhile, a raging crime spree is keeping Jamie busy—and so is a hot new boyfriend and a strict jogging and frozen custard fitness plan. Action careens from OC to Dubai, from the wild shores of Assateague to a wild-west campground. Will Jamie survive to debut her fringed leopard-print bikini?

The Journey Home by Nancy Segovia

The Journey Home by Nancy Segovia Genre: Middle Grade
Publisher: Faith and Reason Publishing
Cover Designer: Book Cover MachineRelease Date: December 10, 2015

Separated from their mother and lost in the woods, two runaway slave children travel the Underground Railroad in search of both freedom and a forever home.

Thomas and Cassie’s mother hadn’t included Old Red in her plans to meet the Underground Railroad conductor. At the planned meeting time, the master’s old hound dog ripped her plans to shreds as surely as he would her two children. Using herself as a decoy, the family separated. Her final words to Thomas and Cassie were to follow the river and stay in the water to hide their scent. They did as she instructed not knowing if this would be the last time they would see her, or that this night would be the beginning of a long, dangerous journey with an unknown future.

He gave her another shove and began to run. “Hurry up, go faster. They’re catching up on us.”

Cassie again faced her brother. “That sounded like Old Red. Didn’t it? Was that Old Red, Thomas?”

He couldn’t see the fear in her eyes, but he heard it in her voice.

Old Red was mean. Mean was the only word that could describe the old, red hound. Not only that, but he hated Negroes in particular. He had been trained that way. The dog had been tied to a stake and beaten, on the Master’s orders, by slaves. Taunted, teased, and beaten, day after day, the dog learned to hate people, and he hated people of color the most.

Thomas shuddered as he remembered the Master turning Old Red loose on a captured runaway slave. He could still hear the man’s screams and see the red blood against the dark Maryland soil. He shuddered again, and pushed his sister ahead of him. His fear making him angry and rough with the sister he cared so much about.

“Faster Cassie. We’ve gotta go faster.”

* * * * *
Thomas heard Cassie’s stomach rumble at the word supper. His own stomach felt like it was as empty as a dry well.

“I’m hungry,” Cassie said.

“Me too. But, we’ve got to keep on. Maybe when it’s daylight, and we get back to the river we can find some watercress or berries or something.”

Thomas knew he was giving her false hope. There would be no going back to the river. For the dogs and the Master were back there, and in the daylight he’d no longer have the North Star to guide him. Without its guiding light, they were lost.

Momma never intended them to go this way; never intended they be without help or food. Help and food had been at the bridge, last night, but wouldn’t be there tomorrow night. There was no going back. They could only go further, deeper into the south. Thomas knew he could never tell Cassie the truth. The awful truth – they were lost and alone.

Bare Wires by Cherime MacFarlane

BARE WIRES AUTHOR: Cherime MacFarlaneGENRE: Romance SERIES: Prequel to Wired For Sound (part of  The MacGrough Clan Series) Lori Ann Reasor is about to get her big break, a gallery owner in Brighton likes her work. To celebrate she treats herself to tea in a posh establishment. What she discovers there puts her off men. She will stick with painting. Hamish is trying to hold Bushmaster together long enough to get them signed to a contract. With a prima donna and a junky in the band, it’s not easy. Bushmaster is on the verge of blowing sky high. The two young people are converging as their dreams play out. Can they both keep it together? The album was done and over with when the band went on tour once again. The first venue down, they quickly had to go searching for a base player when Miller nearly died of an overdose that morning. He was done. A quick call to Warren had the man on the phone to every agent he could find.Hamish got a call just as they were getting ready to leave the hotel for the airport. A very young bassist had been signed and was on the first flight out of L.A. He would meet them in Berlin. With a shake of his head, Hamish informed the rest of the band in the limo.As Hamish was certain he might, Vincent had a tantrum. How the hell was he expected to keep everything working smoothly when the lineup was constantly changing? Hamish endured the tirade in silence with the rest of the men. With a shrug, MacGrough broke out his flask. "Miller isnae doin so well. Tha eejit nearly snuffed himself. I'm nae sure how his family are gonna take it."The other members of the group felt something for the man they had played with for years. Vincent Slaughter didn't give a damn about Sandy Miller. Lurch's dark eyes stared at Hamish whose fingers were white where he was clutching the flask. The message was clear when Walker shook his tobacco brown head before turning to Vince. Lurch was going to have a say. "You are a piece of work man. Don't you even give one tiny little shit about a guy you've worked with for years?"Thud joined in the chorus. "Use some of those upper crust manners yur always yappin about. Shut yur face for a bit. If Warren is sending tha kid, he has tae know somethin."Vince opened his mouth to speak. Faced with the frowns of the other players, he snapped it shut. For a change their flight was quiet. No one felt up to commenting on the plight of someone they had known intimately for years. UNWRAPPING TREASURE by JODY A

Unwrapping Treasure by Jody A. Kessler Series: A Granite Lake Romance NovellaGenre: Contemporary RomanceRelease Date: November 28, 2015

Paramedics Treasure and Bodie never imagined their Christmas Eve nightshift could turn into a dangerous and sexy holiday escapade that changes their lives forever.

Paramedics Treasure and Bodie arrive on scene at a routine emergency call and find an outrageous holiday party, a Christmas tree on fire, and an innocent life to save that nearly cost them their lives.

After escaping the chaos of work, they decide to spend their Christmas vacation together at a secluded lakeside cabin deep in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With the snow falling soft, a warm fire in the hearth, and fresh cookies baking in the oven, an innocent holiday getaway quickly turns into a night of spontaneous passion with no strings attached.

Will Treasure and Bodie’s hasty decision to spend the night tumbling between the sheets – and on the table, and the floor – prove disastrous or will their relationship develop into something neither of them saw coming?

“Slow down,” he said next to her ear.Treasure didn’t want to slow down. She wanted to peel his shirt off and unbutton his jeans and have her way with him. She’d never given much thought to what Bodie would be like to sleep with and now that they’d kissed she knew he could drive her straight to fifth gear with ease. Hell no, she didn’t want to slow down. She stilled her breath as she considered how to approach this unwanted request. With her hand captured beneath his, she clenched her fingers lightly but firmly on him.“I don’t think you can handle me,” she said, tossing his own words from earlier back at him. Still straddled over his lap, she pressed down and scooted her hips forward a couple of inches, grinding her pelvis against his. “Either do me, or don’t, but I won’t beg for it. What do you say to that?”“I say, you’re not going to get away with whatever it is you’re used to getting. Not from me. We’re doing this together or not at all, Treasure. I don’t sleep around and I won’t use you for a quickie.”“Damn it.” She slumped back slightly and thought she better get off him. “I guess I made a mistake. I thought you were feeling this as strongly as I am.” She made a move to the side but Bodie grabbed her hips and held her in place.“You want me to sleep with you and then pretend nothing happened?” he asked. She didn’t know what to say. In a weird way, that was exactly what she had in mind, but when he put it like that, it sounded impersonal and meaningless. She felt confused for a second and suddenly didn’t know what she wanted. He raised his hand and she thought he was letting her slide over onto the couch, but instead he placed the pads of his fingers to her jaw and turned her head so he could look into her eyes. She was more than reluctant to face him now. Emotional confusion battled against her baser needs and she didn’t know what to say.“You’re not wrong,” he said and shifted beneath her so she could clearly feel how hard he still was. “There’s plenty of compatibility here.” He raised his fingers, brushing her cheek with a feather light touch and tucking her hair behind her ear. He moved in to kiss the side of her neck. “Why rush it? We have all night.” He teased her back with nimble fingers. “If you’re going to be my downfall tonight, then it’s going to be memorable. You want to remember why feeling alive is worth it. This is the only way I know how to accommodate us both.”“You’re pretty chatty for a drunk guy,” Treasure said as she tipped her head back to allow him better access to the front of her body.“I’m only setting the boundaries before one of us accidentally crosses a line we didn’t know existed. And I’m not drunk. If you are, then we should probably wait until you’re sober.”“I’m not. Buzzed maybe, but in full control of myself.”

It was a dangerous proposition: sex for money with a complete stranger. Cold, scared, and alone: just where the killer wants her. She smiled her most beguiling smile at the driver who picked her up, and now she's dead, shrouded by the fog that clings grimly to her frail corpse as she lies on the edge of the riverbank.

HE WAITS
When a serial killer goes on the rampage in Dublin, Detective George Ellis delves inside the mind of a murderer to discover what is driving him to kill and why. However, every lead comes with its own sinister undercurrents, and as the body count rises, the shocking truth unravels.

AND...
George’s hunt for the truth leads him to the deadly secrets hidden within his own family, but he has no idea how much danger he's in. As he peels away the layers of a dark and dangerous past, he discovers the murders didn’t begin on that bitter night in November, and worst of all, they won’t end there…

BEFORE I'M GONE
BEFORE I'M GONE is the pulse-pounding sequel to I SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU.

Sometimes the secrets of the past should be left buried in the past…

Crime and justice are Detective George Ellis’ business. Murder is his speciality. In his twenty years on the police force, he thinks he’s seen it all: until now. A bloodthirsty murderer has been stalking the streets of Dublin for too long, leaving death and devastation in his wake. His victims are innocent women who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As the body count rises, Detective Ellis follows every lead: no matter how dark or disturbing. However, there's no apparent connection between the women; they're all strangers with only one thing in common--the killer.

Someone from George’s past holds the key to solving the murders and bringing the serial killer to justice, but little does he know that his private and professional lives are about to collide with horrifying consequences...

Exquisite Redemption RB Banner
ExquisiteRedemption3 GoodReads Synopsis Sarah In my wild, reckless past Carlos ‘Beach’ Rodriguez would have been my ideal man. He’s handsome, experienced, rich, kind, and in complete control of his destiny. Unfortunately he’s also a criminal, the President of an outlaw motorcycle club, and I’ve sworn off bad boys in my efforts to live my dream of being normal. It would be so much easier to resist him if he hadn’t saved my life more than once and didn't treat me like his queen. Winning her love is gonna be a challenge, but I’m determined to have her as my old lady and I’ll do whatever I have to in order to make that happen. That would be a hell of a lot easier to do if people weren’t trying to kill us all the time. **Author's note- This is part ONE of TWO for Beach and Sarah's story and ends on a Happy For Now. Book TWO of Beach and Sarah's story will be available February 4th, 2016.**
