Happy Birthday to All Is Silence (and me) 2018.

Full Frontal with Clete Barrett Smith at Village Books in Bellingham.

I officially released All Is Silence February 18th, 2014, so it is nearing its fourth book-birthday and about eighteen months from my fictional apocaloptimistic future pandemic. It’s been a lot of up and down recently. All of them have silver linings, but sometimes it’s just a sliver.

The high school I have taught at for the last eight years, on the site where I have taught for ten years, will be closing at the end of this...

Thanksgiving Smorgasblog

Note: [This post was originally called July Smorgasblog: Tempus Fugit. Isn’t that ironic, doncha think?]

Summer started late for me this year due to ice and snow days during the school year. Now Fall is behind me and a weird winter’s weather has arrived. 67 degrees at 6 p.m yesterday in Bellingham. Expecting flooding in the area today after the early snow on the first weekend of November. Sorry to have not gotten posts done or a newsletter mailed! Here’s what’s up. Lots of things I’m thankful...

September Smorgasblog – Four Days Late

Hey folks, please forgive this meandering post. I wanted to reach out at let people know what’s up.

Been a long time since I rock and rolled. It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. Yesterday, on a day that is usually one of my favorites as it is the birthday of my third son, started badly and ended badly. I woke to the news of the Las Vegas shooting, went to a Doctor’s appointment and learned of a friend’s death, then went to work where before the end of the day I heard that Tom Pet...

A New Kind of Young Adult Story Scavenger Hunt…

I’ve done a few scavenger hunts over the last few years, but this one from the Alliance of Young Adult Authors has an awesome spin. The clues at each of the author’s blogs/sites will tell a story! So cool. Derek Murphy is the brilliant mind behind this one!

This is a chance to meet some new authors, grab a bunch of free books, and sign up to win a whole bunch of epic prizes! There will be one main giveaway for the main prize, a $500 Amazon Gift Card, but most of the participating authors will...

Challenges…

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the support over the years. The last few months have been challenging. Even though I started off the year with a really strong 47,000+ words in January and February, I have a hit a wall and written only 21,000 words since then.

I’m rebooting, finishing edits on TOILS & SNARES for its release as a flip book with the Outward Bound Collection and One Tin Soldier on the flip side. We’ll be having a release party for this PRINTED eBook on July 1st at Village Books with...

On a Shelf: Four Books in a Life

What writer does not like to go into a bookstore or library and find a copy of their book? It doesn’t get old. And sometimes it leads to sales when someone realizes you’re the author. Last week I walked into my favorite bookstore, Village Books, and checked out their new Local Authors section in it’s improved location, right near the center of the main floor near the checkout counter. I was greeted with this sight. ALL IS SILENCE at eye level. Nice. As I looked closer the books around came in...

Here is the cover art for the print Ebook.

What? You don’t know what a print ebook is? And why is OUTWARD BOUND upside down, Charlie Brown? Well…
