Petrol and Diesel Prices are High Due to Lower Corporate Taxes, Not Because of Oil Bonds

Petrol and diesel prices are high not because of oil bonds issued by the previous UPA government, as WhatsApp forwards have been pointing out, but largely because of a significant fall in corporate tax collections, thanks to a cut in tax rates in September 2019. In that sense, you and I are paying the cost of lower corporate taxes, in the form of a higher price of petrol and diesel.
