First Line Friday — Mel from Redemption

First-Line-Friday-ASToday I’m sharing the first line(s) from Mel’s POV, one of the main characters of Redemption. Since I’m in the middle of writing, certain things might change, but here’s a general idea of what it’s all about.

RedemptionThey say you can never go back.

Eight years ago, Ian Anderson left Minneapolis and swore he’d never return, not when half the city still believes he killed his wife. But with his stint in the Air Force over and his uncle’s health failing, he buys a house and settles in, determined to disc...

Tag Line Tuesday — Redemption

Tag Line Tuesday

Tag Line Tuesday is all about sharing the—you guessed it—tag lines from books. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about a book; our tag line could be about characters, series, or settings. Whatever helps us create buzz about our writing.

I’m in the process of working through Redemption (did you know I finished writing the first draft in November?), so I figured it was the perfect time to share. This will be my next published book, so gear up, readers!

Minneapolis believes he’s a murderer. But...

Tag Line Tuesday — New Project!

Tag Line Tuesday

Tag Line Tuesday is all about sharing the—you guessed it—tag lines from books. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about a book; our tag line could be about characters, series, or settings. Whatever helps us create buzz about our writing.

Bringing it back to my new project with this week’s Tag Line Tuesday. Which still has no name or no title because that’s how I roll.

Mistaken identity is just the beginning.

While you’re hanging around, don’t forget to check out tag lines fromChristi Snow and...

First Line Friday — New Project!

First-Line-Friday-AS

As part of my NaNoWriMo efforts this November, I started a new project, aserializedurban fantasy featuring a PI. For now, it’s a fun exercise, although if it’s good enough, I’ll publish it eventually.

But why not share the beginning lines?

The dim lights flickered, a boom of thunder following quickly on its heels. The rest of the bar quieted in the wake of the storm, but Shay knocked back another drink of Scotch. The sky had darkened hours ago, signaling the arrival of another thunderstorm....

When the Blog Goes Quiet — Goal Tracking

goal trackingHello, lovelies!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

Despite my absence fromthisblog, I haven’t stopped writing—or blogging.

Writing progress for the last couple months.

Let’s talk progress, shall we? Here’s what my tracking spreadsheets reveal about my writing numbers lately.

September:

September Word Count

October:

October Word Count

My October counts come purely from my 3o minute writing sprints in the morning, which I’ve started to tweet out. (If you’re not following me on Twitter @amshofner yet, you should be.) So yes, that’s 21k...

Tag Line Tuesday — Elusive Memories

Tag Line Tuesday

Tag Line Tuesday is all about sharing the—you guessed it—tag lines from books. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about a book; our tag line could be about characters, series, or settings. Whatever helps us create buzz about our writing.

To kick off the inaugural Tag Line Tuesday,I’ve chosen Elusive Memories, which seems fitting, since it was my debut novel.

Elusive Memories

Her missing memories hold the key to her freedom… and the fate of the Gifted.

Sound fun, RIGHT?

Here’s the synopsis:

I Work for a “Self-Publishing Company”

Hillcrest Media Group And those are words I never thought I’d say.

I’m a DIY author. So working for a company that helps authors self-publish their books seemed like an odd choice, especially in light of companies like Author Solutions and its subsidiaries.

(*coughs* They’re scammy. *coughs*)

But when I saw the listing for content manager at Hillcrest Media Group (Mill City Press being its “self-publishing company”), I was intrigued.

Because after working a temp job downtown Minneapolis earlier this year, I reali...
