Writing and Projects Update for Oct. 2014

*emerges from editing brain fog*

*frolics across the page*

I’m more than a little happy (and possibly also loopy) to have survived self-edits of Hidden Illusions (HI, for future reference). This post is for YOU, so you know what’s happening with HI, what you can do while you wait for it to be released, and what comes after The Hunted.

A version of HI is with my beta readers

I begin writing a novella set after HI while I wait for feedback

Wherein I Learn How My Writing Has Evolved

5th Grade Amanda

5th Grade Amanda

My love for writing grew out of my love for reading. I don’t know exactly when it happened, but I do remember a story involving being whisked away from my elementary school to a magical land, so I had to be 10 or younger when the writing bug hit.

Which is why I got rather excited when I discovered 5th grade writings in the course of some cleaning for the 30-day clutter clearing challenge hosted by Heather Scott. (I recommend it, by the way.)

Because 5th grade Amanda had the passion of a writer,...

Hidden Illusions Update + Release Date

Yes, release date! Beware that it’s a tentative date. I may be ahead of schedule now, but what happens next depends on other people’s schedules and the amount of editing Janey’s story needs. Anything’s possible. But if all goes according to plan, you’ll see Hidden Illusions on…

December 26.

Yes, the day after Christmas. So you can spend all your hard-earned gift cards to keep you busy over the weekend.

If you follow my Facebook page (If not, it’s an easy fix), you know I triumphantly announced I...

Hidden Illusions Update

Sooooo… at the end of June, I said that I was hoping to hit the halfway point in Hidden Illusions by the end of July.

If we judge by pure word count, then YES. I hit 29,000 words at the end of July. Right now, it’s up to 31,000. My word count meter is set for 50,000 total.

But one can never know how it will all turn out.

Other fun bits:

Reed’s made his appearance and, I hope, you’ll find new ways to hate him
There will definitely be a novella (book 2.5), featuring two characters you meet in book 2...

Hello dear Bloggiesta-ers!

We’re going to tackle STORIFY in today’s mini-challenge.

Here are your action items:

I show you a few examples of how I’ve used Storify and walk you through setting up your own Storify story. (You might want to watch full screen so you can see what I’m doing.)

2. Ask me questions (if you have them)

Do that in the comment section. I’ll answer to the best of my ability.

3a. Create a Storify

My Writing Process — Blog Tour

So I’ve been tagged by Kelly Apple, my partner in crime in too many activities to count (but writing is one of them), for a blog tour. I shall answer the questions—all four of them—but in typical party pooper fashion (as I am wont to do), I’m not tagging anyone else.

I apologize in advance for the smart-ass tone of my answers.

1. What am I working on?

As of today, I’m working on Hidden Illusions, which is book 2 in The Hunted Series. It’s a Camp NaNoWriMo month, so my word counts are higher than...

Bookish Announcements!

I got a box of 10 Elusive Memories copies in the mail last week, and with those come lots of cool stuff. I mailed a copy to my grandma. My grandpa, who died when I was 11, loved to tell stories. My grandma once told me he’d dictated one of his stories to her, so it was especially cool to, in a sense, carry on the family tradition.

I like to think my grandpa would be proud.

Now for the announcements!

1. You can ask me anything on Goodreads

Goodreads opened its Q&A option to all authors, so I enabl...

Elusive Memories Release Party + Book 2 Update

I had a lot of fun on Monday with the release party for Elusive Memories. If you missed it or want to remember the fun (and who doesn’t, really?), you can watch the replay here:

And then there’s BOOK 2

Which is called Hidden Illusions. You can check out the synopsis and add it to your TBR shelf on Goodreads. I’m aiming for a December release.

Here’s what I can tell you about Hidden Illusions:

It’s a dual POV, so you get to be inside Janey’s and Will’s heads (Will is a new character you haven’t me...
