Family Portrait Locations

The locations used in the Family Portrait series are a huge part of the story and I consider them non human characters. The major locations I’ve used all have special meaning to me. Below are a couple of locations mentioned in Banovic Siblings and Changes.

Since moving to the United States in 1998, I lived in New York, Los Angeles and now Albuquerque. I have been blessed to have lived in 3 completely different cities with such rich tapestry of cultures.

Los Angeles.

Everything Changes

Changes Dec coverAdriana Banovic’s 15thbirthday sucked! She got fired after eight years of playing Shayanne Montgomery on the #1 soap in the country, found out that her family was on the verge of bankruptcy and worst of all, forced to return to Westwood Academy. Her only saving grace was a chance glance at dreamy mystery boy Haze Lyndon. Armed with only his picture and a determination to find him—even if it means turning Los Angeles over on its ass.

In this new adult novel you’ll meet Robin Banovic, Adriana’s...

The Series So Far

The series so far

We’re 4 books into the Family Portrait series and I thought I’d chat about the series so far and what’s to come ;-)

Ready Set Drama special

In Changes you were introduced to the Banovics and DaCostas. You got a brief history of these families and it left you wondering how theywould all tie together.

Changes fits the name of the book as the Banovic Family experienced many changes from their life as a family and individually. Add to the mix, there’s the DaCosta family who’s also experiencing changes in their life. – Mu...

Gillian Felix on Bookaholic Fairies

Q & Gillian Felix publicity shotA excerptsfrom the Bastard’s Brew tour. This interview was originally published on Bookaholic Fairies.

1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad. I moved to the United States 15 years ago. I lived in New York and Los Angeles for a number of years. I moved to Albuquerque 5 years ago and love it out here. I love to hike, being in nature, enjoy good music, hiking and books with unforgettable characters. I never force myself to write, I do it because...

The Reviews – Perfect Escape

Perfect escape book coverGillian Felix nails another gut-wrenching and magnetic addition to this series, doling out just enough reality and high tension energy to make putting Perfect Escape impossible to put down as my mental cinema played each scene out, complete with background music and full color action. These characters will forge a place in your heart and mind as they fall into three categories, the good, the bad and the ones who must straddle the line with great care. - Dii Bylo, Amazon Top 100 Reviewer

Haze Lyndon in Los Angeles

Haze Lyndon Walk of FameUp and coming model Haze C. Lyndon, 22, relocated to Los Angeles, California from Madison, Wisconsin and is enrolled in UCLA’s art program. I had a chance to chat with him about his adventure so far.

“I had been to LA a couple of times to visit and work, but living here is a completely different story. My mother was born in Los Angeles, and I noticed that people are either ashamed to admit they were born here, or there are more transplants living out here. I dunno maybe my circle is too small....

Love Triangles and Tangles

One of the things in my view that keeps the Family Portrait series moving forward arethe love triangles and tangles the characters get themselves into. Lets examine.

Love Triangle #1

Kev Savi LW

Savi + Kevin + L’Wren = Dynamite.

From the beginning of their crazy, sexy, hot meeting in Changes, Kevin and Savi was fun to write. They were wild, passionate and wreckless. Kevin was attracted to her confidence and edginess. Hethought he had Savi figured out, thinking that she was just another bored Beverly Hills h...

If you’ve been keeping up withmy novel series Family Portrait, then by now you probably love or hate the characters.

“The Banovic and the DeCosta children start to come into their own. They are not innocent like other NA book characters – Rachel Paelin

Either way you are familiar with them. I recently featured my fantasy cast for The Banovics, now here’s a look at the inspiration behind dysfunctional family number 2, The DaCostas.

I thought I’d pull back the curtains of myFamily Portrait series and share with you some of my inspiration behind the story. The series was built off of thecharacters, then I added the plot. California was a no brainer for the location, because the series featuresyoung Hollywood celebrities,ex-celebrities and celebrity wannabes. If you have not read the series, it starts with them, then branch out to their family members… that’s where the real drama starts.

The character...

Creating the Perfect Escape

Gillian Felix headshotCreating the Perfect Escape

When I sat down to write Perfect Escape my mind was in a different place. I had it all outlined and took out parts of the scripts to include in the book (The Family Portrait series was originally written as a television series. For more on that check out the fun facts page http://familyportrait.plaintalkbm.com/fun-facts-about-the-series/)

While writing the characters interaction with each other, the story took on a life of its own. I’ve known these characters for yea...
