Favorite Scene – Bad Uncle

Book cover Bad Uncle Family Portrait Book 5I have many unforgettable scenes in Bad Uncle (Family Portrait Book 5) so choosing one scene as my favorite was a task. The reason I love this scene is because of Kevin and Adriana’s relationship. One of the things readers are attracted to in the series is the relationship between the siblings.

In the scene below called Krav Maga, it is Sunday morning and Kevin, Adriana’s older brother is around teaching her how to protect herself. Adriana’s mind is not into it because her boyfriend is leavin...

Gillian Felix on A&R Book Corner

This interview was originally published on Authors & Readers Book Corner by Teresa Beasley as part of the Changes (Family Portrait Book 1) tour.

How did you become a writer?

I have always written. As a kid creative writing was one of my favorite subjects. I got my highest marks in that subject. Growing up I was told you have to “get a real job”. I’ve had ‘real’ jobs and it always brought me back to writing. I worked at a television studio writing Prime time news, it was fun at first but then...

Excerpts from Bad Uncle

Here are a few excerpts from Bad Uncle (Family Portrait Book 5)

Bad Uncle Excerpts Bubble

Excerpt 1

Haze switched his thoughts to Adriana. Every fiber of his being was in love with her and he was tired of hiding it. He and Carys had talked about it on their way to New York, and she made a valid point of saying that he and Adriana were both consenting adults and her parents couldn’t stop them from seeing each other. She encouraged him to go to Adriana’s parents, and if Adriana truly loved him, she would forgive him....

Gillian Process Project Interview

If you’re not yet familiar withthe Process Project, check us out here!

What is/are your main genre/field of writing? (ie: Literary Fiction, Young Adult, Romance, Horror, Mystery, Non-Fiction, Poetry, etc.)

My genre would be New Adult, fiction, drama. Because of the content of my series, even though the main characters are fifteen-year-old girls, they deal with very grown up issues and the people around them are also highly featured. It is not a light and fluffy series… it ranges from dark...

The Many Faces of Family Portrait

Changes, the first novel in the Family Portrait series was born on August 12, 2013.As I tried to find my brand, the covers have gone through a lot of changes so to speak. Here they are.

Changes Family Portrait covers

All covers are the copyright of Gillian Felix.

The first one I felt was too dark, that cover was released for less than a month. It was supposed to be a shattered picture frame which represents the lives of the characters. Hence the name Changes.

The 2nd was a mock I had done for the designer. I wanted to foc...

Changes Review Tour Highlights

Due to my hectic schedule I’ve had to hire a company to do a thistour for me. This is the first time I’ve done this. I must say I am happy with the result. Debdatta was very professional, she updated me on the process along the way. She checked in with bloggers to make sure they were going to post when they said the would. She also helped in the Twitter promotions. I would definitely recommend her company and would use her again.

Below are some of the reviews gathered on the tour.
