Summertime, New Mexico
Hello, everyone. It’s summertime and northern New Mexico never ceases to stun like the black cloud ice storm I drove through yesterday on my way back up to Taos from Santa Fe. And the sun. It heats the chest, makes you love life just a little bit more. It makes you want to give thanks, just be thankful for being able to breathe.
And, life goes on. I have been accepted into New England College’s Creative Writing MFA program. Shortly, I’ll be off to New Hampshire for ten days of intensive writing, lectures, workshops, and readings. I have also become a student in Northern New Mexico’s Teacher Licensing program. There will be more good news following as I have been fortunate enough to find a work-home this year, a place to teach and a place to grow the craft to new proportions.
Book-wise and writing-wise, THE MONDO VIXEN MASSACRE is still in its first year. I’m still alive with my fellow New Bizarro Authors. Grateful. CANNIBAL FATALES, my odd tribute to cannibalsploitation, is available as a limited edition hardcover from Dynatox Ministries. MUTAGON II is coming soon (also from Dynatox Ministries), too. TARANTULEECHEN is stuck in limbo, but when it surfaces, it’ll sure be sticky and icky. And, more on the horizon. So much more to come in due time.

Cannibal Fatales (Dynatox Ministries), a Limited Edition Hardcover
Last summer, while submitting my MUTAGON II manuscript to Dynatox Ministries’ Holy Mountain Imprint (their Bizarro fiction imprint), I caught wind of a Cannibalsploitation series in the works. I pitched my idea and the idea was accepted. The result is a fast-paced 1970s cannibal slasher called CANNIBAL FATALES. It hits some classic cannibal film tropes while also blending the genre in a surrealistic and, hopefully, compelling way. The limited edition hardcover is on sale now as part of a hardcover set featuring, along with CANNIBAL FATALES, novellas by Nick Cato, Jonathon Moon, and Michael Faun for only $100.

Guest Mozart
When G Arthur Brown (author of KITTEN), announced he was handing out story titles to interested authors for publication at his blog, “The Strange Edge,” I took up the challenge. Brown sent me two words: Guest Mozart. I wrote the story within one hour of receiving the title, because I already had a character, immediately grasped and molded an imaginary frame. It’s a short, funny, and gory story. It’s also about a father’s love for his daughter. Click the picture and enjoy.
